Had one of these for work years ago, was a good machine. Had the inbuilt pen as well that popped out, hopefully included in the bundle.

    • Does it charge via usbc

    • @millikano
Thunderbolt 3 and hdmi 2.0 maybe?

      • Hi ChiMot,
I don't think it had Thunderbolt, just regular USB-C. I was using the USB-C with a 34 inch widescreen, which worked at 50hz.
        HDMI, I'd guess it's probably 1.4, not 2.0.

  • Good tax write-off.
100% tax deductable as under $299 and dont need invoice

    • So I can Claim All of My under $300 dollar expenses no invoice?

      • +6

No, just means you don't have to write off through depreciation over a number of years. The invoice still is proof you actually purchased.
Edit you can claim without invoice TOTAL $300 but with invoice for substantiation you can claim more

        • +2

          Yep. Thats correct.
For multiple $300 (no depreciation), keep digital invoice for 5 years or upload on ato app just incase they audit you

    • Umm you do need an invoice…

      • +2

First $300 work related expenses no.
        Over $300 total, then yes

B Grade = These units will have some cosmetic blemishes that include scratches and/or other surface imperfections. Items with screens will have blemishes to the screen such as scratches and/or white spots.

  • +15

I hate that they dont distinguish between b grade because of cosmetic damage & B grade because of screen damage. I would pay more for a cosmetically damaged machine with a good screen but a machine with a damaged screen isn't even worth this much.

    • +4

Agreed. N don't care about scratch but give me a good screen

  • +2

It's a crime to pay over $200 for B grade when A grade is more or less the same price or less than a $100 different.

  • +3

    B grade….. junky screen

  • +3

The fact that we're playing 'messed up screen' gacha on $230 units is pretty nutty. I'd pay a bit more if I knew my screen would be perfect with a messed up chassis and a little less if both the screen and chassis were in poor condition. Saves time and money for everyone incase the customer wants to send it back because they got a dud

    • +3

If you dont wanna play screen gacha, A-Grade is the way

      • +1

I hear you, man. It's just mindblowing how we're all essentially gambling at $230-300 a pop and people just accept it

  • it’s a touch screen so glass not plastic, so keys don’t touch the screen or issues if people use paper towel at work to clean screen, shouldn’t be scratches …. doesn’t matter out of stock.

    • Same still applies to the L390 model still available.

Going to repaste this from the last 8th Gen thread (doesnt just apply to this model)…..

Anything with an 8th Gen laptop CPU in it is going to thermal throttle, even if you repaste the CPU (which you should do anyways)

You can mitigate the high temps somewhat (but not the throttling completely, it has a fixed 20W TDP limit) with this to undervolt:

    https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-throttlesto…

and this to (better) control the fan (you may need to create your own profile with the tools included, not for novices):

    https://github.com/hirschmann/nbfc

    Also: Out of stock…

    • I think Intel had vendors patch out (via mobo updates) the ability to undervolt intel cpus due to a vulnerability. I tried using intels software to undervolt a desktop 8700 and it failed due to this.
Probably really because they wanted to drive up sales for new cpus.

      • Intel XTU works on mine….115mv undervolt on the desktop (Aorus Gaming 7 MB)

Throttlestop for 60mv on the laptop

Same caveats apply (B grade, 8th gen).

I applaud those who are brave enough to purchase "B-grade" used laptops lol…

  • From the seller's description

    B-GRADE
These units will have some cosmetic blemishes that include scratches and/or other surface imperfections. Items with screens will have blemishes to the screen such as scratches and/or white spots.

Bought the Yoga L390 and received today. Screen very dirty but can be cleaned. However the touch screen and stylus are not working at all. There is a missing screw at the down left corner of the screen. In windows device manager, no hid touch screen device found.

I sent a message to the seller and waiting for a solution.

    • Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate feedback like this since it's given me the push to never buy a "B-grade" refurb laptop ever again. I was considering it for a while but after reading this and talking with a seller where he said they can't guarantee anything, yeah, A-grade only for me.

    • Thanks for sharing. I am yet to receive mine. Hopefully they find a solution for this. Fingers crossed it's just a driver issue. I'm pretty sure doesn't B-grade include non-functioning parts.

      • This is message I got from the seller after I sent back the L390.

        "Hi,
The unit you purchased does not come with a touch screen or pen, as it was not advertised as such. The unit you purchased is the non-touch model, and this information is clearly stated in the description on eBay. If you would like to return the unit at your own expense, we would be happy to replace it. However, please note that you will need to pay an additional amount for the replacement unit, as all units in this SKU are non-touch only. Please let us know how you would like to proceed further.
        Thanks."

Despite of the Title "14" Touch" and Description "bundled with a ThinkPad Pen Pro stylus", the seller now says they sell a non touch model. So they will charge me more for the "touch upgrade".

        • How did you go with ebay? Did they help?

  • Got mine. Screen has scratches and imprint of keyboard all over it. Basically impossible to work on without reflection from damaged screen.

  • For what it's worth, received mine (L380) today. Not sure if I won the B-Grade lottery or not, but laptop seems to be in very good condition. As others have noted, it does have keyboard markings on the screen, but I've seen this commonly on Lenovo touchscreens. Nothing to render the units useless, I'd say. Everything in working order, comes with USB-C charger (so yes to usb-c charging). https://imgur.com/a/0YeoHjf
