Can it do 65W each at the same time?

    • nope.

    • +5

      That would be 130W.

It's a nice and compact charger, but comes with a bulky power cord

    • +1

It is grounded though which should mean no tingling with some devices.

    • +2

That bulky power cord makes it perfect for international travel- just get an IEC cable for whatever country you're going to.

Also means that it doesn't have to sit on a wall and block the socket next to it.

I personally prefer a charger like this that plugs directly into the wall. You can swap the heads for the country you're visiting. The charger itself isn't much larger than an AU mains plugtop alone.

I have 2m and 3m USB cables which are longer and take up less space than a 3-core mains lead.

Also means that it doesn't have to sit on a wall and block the socket next to it.

Pick a slim charger (like the one linked above) and it won't block any sockets.

        • The issue is there are not many products from reputable brands.
I could see only Heymix or sometimes Zyron.

@Averell: I haven't spent much time looking since my Minix is still working, but one could get this Targus from Officeworks. Or use a travel converter and Anker charger specifically for the country you're visiting; those tend to be more compact and safer than the universal ones.

            • @eug: Thanks. Do you know whether that one has 2 or 4 ports?

The description says: "Includes 2 x USB-C and 2 x USB-A charging ports.". However, the photo only shows 1A1C. Do they have two more ports on the other side?

          • +2

@Averell: Minix has been making good mini-PCs and Android boxes for over a decade now. I'd regard them as a reputable brand.

          • +1

@Averell: There are plenty of chargers available around this price point both locally and grey that would be better than the various rebrands spamming Amazon.

Off the top of my head, there are at least 2 Anker models, Belkin 68W, Belkin 65W Gan, Mophie 67W. Then there are grey imports and less reputable Australian market brands.

            • @ihfree: But I think they all need an adaptor to use outside of Aus, don't they?
The Belkin 108W is with a figure 8 cord, but I saw many complaints saying that it's noisy.
I currently have the Anker 543, but it supports 45W max for one port.

              • @Averell: Mophie and Satechi also have units. There's also ugreen, but I don't know much about the brand.

Not bad. Note that this was $39 + delivery(~$13 from a comment) in the previous deal from AusPCMarket.

  • Looks like it’s free delivery for most areas. Exceptions are rural or regional areas.

If you need something locally these are pretty good AT THE SALE PRICE. I never suggest these at retail because they're egregiously ripping you off.

At this price they are decently built circuit wise, use a good GanFet controller, decent caps and decent components. All safety features trip as they should and overall there aren't any corners cut worth noting.

There are better options from Chinese brands and companies on Aliexpress that would have better packages sizes and also use an iec connector at higher outputs like WOTOBEs 100w ($44-$50 w/100w OLED cable)

This model has an IEC C5/C6 cable/socket with a ground pin, which I can confirm is connected to the PCB. It’s also generally well made, quite heavy/solid for its size and doesn’t get very warm even at peak draw.

The unit is certainly less totable than, for example the Anker Nano II 65W which I was using with my laptop previously, but I got a big static shock when I touched it a couple weeks ago (it’s an EliteBook with an aluminium case/shell) which I’m probably very lucky didn’t fry anything.
That Nano worked and still works great, but I’ll keep using the HP GaN for the extra piece of mind.

Ive been trying to look into reports of zapping in various GaN Units to reproduce and eventually collate. For disclosure I also work with some manufacturers in development.

Would you mind telling me what sort of laptop ya have, (newer or older elite books??) what sort of cable you used and any specifics like if it was on insertion, general use, mid charging with the device on/off, and if it was a short zap or continuous until you removed your hand?

Overall the Anker nano II is generally a great unit and its extremely unfortunate thats happened, it absolutely should never be occurring. Did your unit blow or stop working, that would probably give a bit of insight into what's going on.

  • I have had issues with dell 65 watt usb c chargers due to their 1 wire protocol wont turn on for some devices, are these one wire enabled?
