      you idiot. no offence

  • Good for Steam Deck?

    • Seems fine to me

Need to use port 2 btw

      • Why port 2?

        • I must have read the manual wrong - port 1 ok too if just 1 thing plugged in. Depending on what’s plugged into where, might not be able to get minimum 45w

    UGREEN or HEYMIX?

    • +2

      Ugreen

    • +2

      Ugreen

    • +6

      Depends

Are you ok with paying a little bit more for quality? - UGREEN
Are you over-insured on your house? - HEYMIX

      • Ummmm should I get rid of my two HEYMIX chargers? Been using them for awhile now, no issues.

        • +3

either that, or increase your house insurance.

Sorry i thought you made your original comment trying to troll, i see now it is a genuine question.

Do a quick search on OZB about heymix products, there have been that many people here have dangerous experiences with them. If someone gave me a heymix charger for free i wouldn't plug it into 1 of my own devices or at my house.

Ugreen on the other hand, has a strong reputation of being built well and lasting the test of time

          • +1

@whitepuma: Ouch. First I have heard if it. I bought a heymix from one of these bargains and it has been going so well.

            • +1

@xsacha: if it's the first you have heard of it, then i assure you you havent researched past skin deep on ozbargain. Use the top right search bay for heymix and read through the comments. We call anything heymix firecrackers here

              • +1

@whitepuma: Yeah I didn't do any research and only saw positive reviews on the bargain listing :( Looks like a lot of QC issues. At least it seems like I have got a good unit as it exhibits no issues and it has been 3.5 years since I bought it. I'll avoid them in future. Thanks.

                • +3

@xsacha: just because you have a unit that is currently working doesn't mean it is safe or good to use. IMO, from all the reviews i've seen here on OZB (including my own experience), even if i had a working heymix i would throw it in the bin as e-waste. Somebody on here even did a tear down of a heymix device and showed photos of how it is terrible quality, doesn't comply with electrical standards, and by all means is dangerous (even if it currently works).

It's not worth risking the damage to your device (say a $1000 phone or laptop) and is especially not worth the damage to your home.

Adding to that, i worked closely with procurement in IT at a prior business i worked for, and they had a ban on all heymix devices, they had bought a bunch of them for travelling salespersons, and numerous of them popped/exploded. It didn't happen to them all, but it happened to more than 1. From a safety and cost perspective that is enough to warrant destroying the rest, banning it from that point on, and cutting their losses.

Some people think to themselves "oh its just a $30 charger, if i lose $30 on it i'll live"….it's not just the charger, the damage it can do to your device, property or self isn't covered.

@whitepuma: Ok, I think I get the picture lol.

Cheers bud. Had 2x HEYMIX. Ordered 3x UGREEN. Will chuck out the HEYMIX ones or donate them to an enemy, as to extend an olive branch.

                    • +1

@Dreamcast: good idea to get rid of the Heymix

It amazes me that their still allowed to sell….HEYMIX is proof that amazon reviews are useless.

                  • @whitepuma: agree. long time ago i bought a cheapo multi charger from aliexpress no brand 4 ports, charged 1 phone 1 ipad and within 15mins it becomes too hot even to touch. crazy scary im sure it would have melt if i didnt notice

                • +1

@xsacha: Here is my previous comment on this

This doesn't cover all of the cases put here on OZB, only some….it's enough for me to play it safe and to get rid of anything heymix.

                  • @whitepuma: Where were all these reviews in 2021 when I bought mine :P

                    • +1

@xsacha: Dunno but I got slammed for slagging Heymix off “via hearsay” around here recently. Tough crowd.

  • Ugreen or Anker?

  • Do these run hot?

    • I got a 100W one yesterday and that got very hot charging my new laptop

    • +1

All of the very compact chargers do, if you put a high load on them. They just have less exposed surface area to dissipate the heat.

  • -1

This is one of those where the plug is the same direction as the fatter/wider side so its going to obstruct any outlets to either side (e.g. powerboard) depending on what else is plugged in. Pass

    • This charger is as wide as the plug, so shouldn't block the next port.

However, the 100W model will definitely block.

    • This thing is tiny slim, no problems mate.

    • Was an issue on my UPS, had to just get a double adaptor with wider outlet spacing.

Haven't had issues on anything else - the UPS just has stupidly close ports.

  • Note this is ~90w by other standards which count the total of all ports. 65w is the maximum single port output

  • UGreen or Zyrontech?

  • Not sure if this price is still available on Prime?

But can someone tell me what is the advantage of this over the 65W uGreen charging station, other than being around $8 cheaper?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/896380

    • +1

      Both prices still valid.

The main difference would be charging protocols and form factor.

      • Charging Protocol: The charger in this deal post supports Samsung Super Fast Charging 2.0 (PPS: 3.3-11V/4.5A); whereas the one you linked only support Samsung Super Fast Charging 1.0 (PPS: 3.3-21V/3A)
      • Form Factor: The charger in the deal post is a straight plug into the wall; whereas the one you linked is a desktop charger with a Standard Figure-8 (IEC-C7) Cable. The detachable cable can be replaced/swapped out for other country cable if you're travelling overseas.
      • Thanks for the detailed reply Richard. I'm less likely to buy a Samsung phone in the future, so #1 is marginal for me. Good observation about #2. The charging station looks a bit more versatile to me - can theoretically charge more small devices at once - and also seems more practical for charging a laptop while in use.

  • Is this meant to run super hot even when not yet pushed to the 65W limit ?
I have just tried this using 45W charging a tablet for 30mins. And this is so hot I can't even grab it to pull it out from the wall socket. I feel that this is getting dangerous I have not had a charger that I can't grab after using.

    • @adventurer I was just about to order this or the anker 65w one, and this comment made me thinking again to buy or not buy…

      • Maybe I have a bad unit ? Waiting for more ppl to comment about the heat.

Anker's problem is cannot easily find PPS specs. If your ecosystem is Samsung or Google Pixel then it'll affect you.

        • I purchased the Anker 65W for ~$36 as the big smile event was ending at 12.

  • I was looking at either and while I had initially purchased the UGREEN one above (as I have so many other UGREEN products that work well). On a whim, decided to look for other 65W GAN chargers posted here and saw a comment about it getting quite hot.

Did a search online and managed to find a video from an American Youtuber that did a direct comparison between the two models and his comments were the same as yours, the UGREEN gets hotter than the Anker under load.

Cancelled the UGREEN order and placed one for the Anker instead.
