Travel Ease - Medication for The Prevention of Travel Sickness 10x Tablets $7.99 Delivered @ PharmacySavings

670

Hi Ozbargainers,

Despite the Federal Government retarding competitive international airfare pricing I've been asked by a number of Ozbargainers to run some medication deals to support frequent Ozbargain travellers. I've not been sure if this type of item will have sufficient demand to warrant running a deal (or deals) on Ozbargain, so I've been hesitant to list this type of product - anyway - as always; the votes, comments and sales will dictate whether we see these products on here again!

  • Appreciate the deal! Ordered.

    I suggest chewing gum.

    • +1

For the relief of what precisely?

I suggest sitting under a tree.

      • -1

Pro tip, if you have travel sickness. Maybe just stay at home.

  • +2

Isn't it a little disingenuous to market a product as "relief" when in actuality it prolongs the symptoms of the illness?

    • You are assuming it's always caused by an infection

      • I don't think Loperamide - an over the counter medication - is intended for people suffering a chronic condition.

        • Loperamide is commonly used for things like irritable bowel as well (a chronic condition).
There would be certain cases even in infectious gastroenteritis where it would be not unreasonable to consider using loperamide - eg if your situation did not allow you to reach a bathroom easily (travelling).

Delivered anywhere in Oz - please post link to this price or less delivered, I'll eat humble pie and accept. Otherwise please consider removing unfair neg.

        • +11

Ok but to be fair you haven't validated your neg by supplying the same product (or a similar product) for a lesser price - delivered.

It's only fair to compare apples with apples. Delivery, packing and processing does have a cost, maybe not to you, but to many others it has some value.

We are actually a Chemists' Own preferred partner so if another vendor is selling this product for less than us - I'd really be surprised, if you can post a link, I can then use this to match (or most likely better) any competitor in Oz, it would be of huge help to me if you could post a link to any brand of this item for $8 or less delivered.

        • +6

In that case you better neg all the amazon deals that pop up on here too

        • +2

Unless they are next door to you, be quiet.

  • +1

Op surely kids paracetamol you can source?

    • +41

Yes can source - but per above neg and comments, margins on paracetamol are non existent which means many others will come in at similar pricing to us, thus meaning its a huge risk (to us) to offer/post on Ozbargain as a rep post even if we are the cheapest in Australia on that particular line delivered.

Keyboard warriors will jump on and basically smash us to pieces, followed by 5-10 abusive emails from the sheep accusing us of everything under the sun because one user makes an unsubstantiated claim which incites many others to spend hours crafting critical emails to us. If we dare respond to any of these emails to try and assert our position - this is then followed by countless reports to the TGA or other authorities which take many hours to defend - So whats our crime? Potentially offering a deal on a bargain website some people may think isn't that great….yep.

What the average punter may not realise is that if reps get negs (or low + votes) our ability to post deals is restricted. So on one hand we receive some criticism for continually posting hayfever meds (which vote well and sell by the thousands) but special requests, low volume or niche lines like tonights deal which may or may not be available at similar prices elsewhere (NOT INCLUDING DELIVERY) are very hard to promote as a rep without risking slander, reputational damage or posting restrictions which then come from poor votes. It's a very fine line to walk around here, in some ways its a bit sad as we have so many requests coming in and so many different items we'd like to offer - but navigating the vibe/ways of Ozbargain users really does have to be considered posting deals as a rep.

I knew tonights deal is the best available in Oz delivered - but I also knew that the offer was quite niche and 10-20 people may benefit and 1-2 may try to poke a hole - and …. here we are. Point made and confirmed - it's very hard for reps to post niche items/deals and walk away unscathed.

      • Can't make everyone happy, stick to your guns and post good deals op. I ordered some travelcalm for upcoming cruise

      • +1

As someone who has had travel calm I believe in the past and still been stuck vomiting in a plane bathroom on a 14 hr flight, my question to you is. Are these more potent/likely to work?

Thank you either way for your work!

        • Different things. Travelcalm is specifically for the prevention of infection caused by ecoli. It doesn't treat symptoms, despite what it's called.

This is a treatment for the symptoms of travel sickness - nausea. So yes it will work if you are on a boat.

However if you are going to be eating in places with disgusting hygiene (at risk of what Australians lovingly call Bali belly) you should still use travalcalm.

          • @greatlamp: Maybe I am very wrong about what I took them, either that or maybe I had the wrong thing.

Is the one this guy is selling, strong/ the strongest you can get because I need that

            • @1v1MeTetris: I mixed up travelan and travalcalm. Sorry please ignore my comment

      • +1

I for one hope you continue to post deal of any kind. Been buying from you for what feels like several years now.

      • Fair point op.

With the travel tabs. I noticed it has both dimenhydramate and caffeine.

Guessing that’s to help counter the drowsy effect?

Also is it true your best to take the night before and on the day to get into your system??

        • Caffeine also helps prevent nausea. You want it in your system, maybe 2 hours before. The night before - it might not last that long.

      • Lol ignore those keyboard warriors

  • I would prefer it if they used the term motion sickness rather than travel sickness. I can feel like vomiting if I start playing a 3d computer game and haven't played one in a while (no tolerance). Ginger can help and products like "Sea Bands" than push on an acupressure point just proximal to the wrist. Most other medications, like the one advertised, work by clogging up muscurinic acetylcholinergic receptors (a lot of older tricyclic antidepressants, and antipsychotics both new and old, also do this, amongst other things).
