    $379 for a keyboard?
I can get a good android tab for this price.

      Plus shipping!

Yeah but it won't be an iPad. A $379 "good" Android will seem like shit compared to a base iPad at $700 or whatever.

This keyboard is actually pretty great, the kind of quality you got with the Surface Pro keyboard. You can use any bluetooth keyboard own iPad, or get the cheaper Logitech keyboard case or even a cheap AliExpress keyboard case. This Apple one is the best of the best.

Rumours suggest the new iPad keyboard case will have an aluminium top case. Also iPad Pro is due for a major refresh so not a great time to buy one if you care about that kind of thing.

Base iPad has been regularly on special for under $500.

Yes, I'd also expect a $700 tablet to be better than a $379 one!

I you want a keyboard with a tablet, a Chromebook is likely a better solution than an iPad. Just get a Chromebook, at whatever price point you want

It's kind of like rich man's boots kind of thing. The rich man spends $700 on his thick leather boots and they last good for 10 years, all his favourite apps run just fine on his boots the whole time. The poor man spends $379 for fake PU leather boots and they are peeling and running slow in just a few years, his boots get second rate versions of apps, the apps crash on his boots more often, etc.

          • @AustriaBargain: PhilToinby his calling you a poor. You going to take that?

          • @AustriaBargain: Except the guy with $700 boots just realised he needs to spend an extra $379 on boot polish ;)

My kids have iPads, and they've had a heap of use over 6 years and still run well. I do get it. I just wouldn't buy a $400 keyboard for one

Keep in ind the rumors are the next gen of pros are getting a redesigned 'magic keyboard' so don't get this for your old one thinking it will work with the upgraded iPad you have planned. Obviously it works fine with current models - just might not be future proof.

Apple must love there rusted on consumers

I have the white one for 5th gen, and it’s generally a really good product. It’s kinda let down by iPad os and the limited softwares, just don’t expect it’s gonna be anything close to laptop experience. It’s still a huge smartphone for entertainment and basic words and docs.

Expensive but the best if you need it.

    Shame iPads are trash.

Have an iPad pro 12.9" m1, my most regretful tech purchase. Insanely limiting software holding back extremely good hardware.

    • I have the launch 12.9 inch redesign and I like it a lot. I wish sidecar were more reliable so I could use it as a second display for my MacBook. But the mouse and keyboard sharing at least is reliable.

      I feel your pain.

It’s a monster in terms of specs but the software really limiting its usecase, perhaps Apple doesn’t want to go against its MacBook product line.

For my usage just ordinary MS suite stuff I found iPad Pro is good enough. I ended up selling my MacBook Pro and now on the go I only have my iPad Pro 12.9 M1 with Logitech combo touch. It’s better in face to face meetings and you can write and draw which is awesome. (Cheapest iPad can do the same though just not as nice)

For more complex heavier tasks I use my desktop PC everything is saved on ONE DRIVE so my iPad Pro can have access to files from anywhere.

Generally it’s more versatile (more fun) than a laptop but you just can’t completely rely on it, you still need a laptop or desktop. Hopefully it will have better and more apps.

Love Magic Keyboard except no f- keys…bit annoying for the app I need to vpn to sometimes

  • Officeworks don’t price match direct imports

  • Logitech touch combo is a better solution unless you use your iPad Pro on your lap very often.

  • It’s good price for the Apple magic keyboard for anyone who wants one.

Agree it’s a very expensive keyboard which is why I haven’t got one yet. I got an external Logitech Bluetooth keyboard for less than $50 which is more versatile as 90% of the time I don’t need it.

  • Fairly standard price for a direct import.

  • Rather buy a real keyboard and deal with it not being so "portable".
