Jump Start Up to 2.5L Petrol

Suits smaller cars (or 80's-90's ricers 😅). Chassis-wise, it looks almost exactly like my Baseus jumper. Also, the plug from alligator clips to box/plug (to battery pack) is the exact same and wouldn't be surprised if they're interchangeable. Seems like decent value as I paid like $50 - $60 for the Baseus I think.

The unit doesnt jump the car per se (the wires are far too thin). Basically comes down to how much charge they think the backup battery will dump into an avg sized battery in said sized motor (in this case - 2.5L).

But if you have a battery that isnt too bad on a 5L motor (and you leave it connected a bit longer before trying to start it), fair chance it will start it just the same as a 2.5L.

    • The clamps look pretty comfortable if you wanted to use it on your nipples

    Detroit 180MM Polisher Sander

Keep in mind that's it's orbital and not dual action.

    • +3

Yup. Great if you know what youre doing.

Otherwise da/random orbital is what you want as a novice.

Good luck finding any stock lol.

These are plenty safe to use on car paint, just swap out the wool pad for a light/moderate cut foam pad and/or use a mild abrasive. Rupes Uno Protect One Step Polish & Sealant is $18-19 from sparebox ebay right now and very safe/effective. Just check over your work and don't overdo an area, it's incredibly hard to misuse a rotary. Youtuber-detailers make dual-action polishers sound like some kind of essential tool when they're really not.

$5 clay bar or substitute + soapy water as lubricant, $50 polisher, $20 pad or two (wash between panels with APC and dry using polisher on highest RPM), $20 for the polish which includes protection and converts into a fine abrasive as you work it. Literal $100 detailing setup, add $20 for a good sealant if you feel like it.

    • DAs might not be necessary, but I bought both my corded and cordless for under 50 each, a Rockwell from SCA and a Aldi compatible from Autobarn respectively. As such it might be better for some to wait for a deal if not in a rush

    • A lot of that went over my head unfortunately - do you have any links to good YouTube videos or guides on how to get started with kit like what you mentioned?

      • @organamisms
It's honestly pretty simple. tl;dr is that your top layer of car paint is called clear coat and it's what gives it that nice gloss and reflection we all love. Over time the upper clear coat gets scuffs, swirls, scratches, sun/chemical damage, contamination, etc. Unless the clear coat is peeling off you can usually make a car look like new again or better through a paint correction.

The steps are. 1) Washing the car, 2) Decontaminating the paint 3) Polishing the paint ) Sealing the paint.

Step 1) Literally just use dish soap and elbow crease to wash the car, it's usually considered too harsh for cars but you're polishing down the paint anyways and want it to be clean.

Step 2): With the car already clean use a "clay bar", they're $5-10 off aliexpress or ebay brand really doesn't matter much here. They're a literal block of clay. Look up a video guide but use soapy water as lubrication while you just rub it all over the car with light pressure. It will pull up invisible contamination embedded in the paint. Afterwards your paint should feel less grippy and more slick. You can feel feel the contamination by wetting your car with water and rubbing your fingers along, you'll feel tiny sand-like "bumps" around the place.

Step 3) Polish. You get a polisher like what's featured in this deal, and use a foam, microfiber or wool pad with it. Think of it as soft sandpaper. You'll apply a compound or polish to the pad (In my post above this is the Rupes Uno Protect One Step product I mentioned. 3DOne is another popular polish. You then turn the polish on and gentle run it along the surface of the paint to remove a very small % of the clear coat, flattening it out and removing most of the general sratches/scuffs.

Step 4) The polish I mentioned already seals the paint but you always need to follow up with a sealant. When people talk about "waxing their car" in movies they were talking about applying carnauba wax to cars to create a protective barrier and further enhance gloss. Now days we have all kinds of sealants, the most popular now being ceramic sprays with better properties.

Apex Detail and Forensic Detailing have really good simple guides on all this. This video is also a good rundown on the principles of paint correction with a guy literally doing it by hand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUdSUDObwVc

Just don't get caught up in spending time and money on the million different products out there. A cheap polisher and polish can give you 90% of the results of a professional detailer with the right technique. You can get great repeatable results spending ~$100 on the essentials. After all, you're literally just rubbing away paint at the end of the day.

    • “Rupes Uno Protect One Step Polish & Sealant is $18-19 from sparebox” I can't find it anywhere near that price. Do you have a link?

  • Which one is good polisher for the beginner? Is Detroit is good?

Update: no stock in WA :(

  • Good effort on the post, but not too many amazing deals here, don't think any would stand up on their own. Maybe if you are desperate for soemthing right now there's some decent deals

  • Put your hands up..

  • Was going to grab the jump starter until I saw the comments from the last time it was this price (including someone who had the battery swell after only two uses)

Given this is something you need to be reliable, I think it's worth spending the money on a known good brand and model.
