Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Yellow Switches are linear.

Has a multifunction wheel, but wouldn't trust it to last long.

a multifunction wheel, but wouldn't trust it to last long

It's Razer, so the shift key will be the first to go.

Razer is regarded as a mediocre, marketing over quality, keyboard company for people who don't know any better. A bit like, I don't know, people going to Harvey Norman for furniture.

    • Blackwidow V4 75% seems solid.

You're going to chance it on the 4th iteration that they've stopped making shit products? That's generous.

Plenty of other, much better regarded brands, out there.

Just look at the other comments in this thread.

        • I know very little about mechanical keyboards - but the people I know that are into that are raving about the V4. Since it's still a very new product I'll wait a bit and see what the truth is, but it's the first time I've seen people in that group commend Razer.

It might just be brilliant marketing, keen to see.

Be fair, I feel like that applies to all gaming peripheral companies that made gaming mechanical keyboards, if you ask "keyboard enthusiasts crowd".

I feel like now a lot of the custom keyboard features like gasket mount etc etc are getting adopted by these companies like ASUS and Razer which you can see with more recent models like Azoth or Blackwidow V4 75%.

Not talking fancy OTT features here, just basic reliability and 'not shit'. Steelseries, Corsair, Logitech. Razer has for years been a step or two below. But they have a huge marketing budget and kool product namez.

        • Eh, I found them to be… OK. Not groundbreaking, but certainly usable.

Be fair, I have not yet used their Blackwidow line up (They are not an interesting line up for me) and I have a Huntsman and Deathstalker V2. Chasis felt thin and hollow, but otherwise, meh. I will mention that I do have a strong doubt on the longevity on the keycaps for Deathstalker, given that it's UV printed ABS, but otherwise nothing that I was not anticipating with a gaming peripheral brand. .

If I were to be honest, I think gaming keyboard brands are terrible value in general for keyboards at least. That said it's not like I have not heard horror stories from other brands as well.

    • What is this 2010s?

Razer was shit back then and there are still some issues with their support and certain product range, but if you're actually in the scene for the periperals you would actually know that their products have improved and they have solid keyboard and mice now that are up there in terms of tech and quality.

Pro tip: buy optical switches and you will not run into issues like double clicking and such.

    • Which brand do you recommend?

    • I think they had a drastic quality control shift over the years.

Currently on a Blackwidow 2013 Stealth Edition that I bought new. Has Cherry MX Brown and all the key caps look as good as new.

Do not buy razer yellow switches, my one got double , triple presses problem after 2 year.

    • Same thing happens with the green.

    • Got mine in the first week and again within a month on the replacement. Haven't had issues with their green

    • I got the razer black widow yellow switch. Other than the volume wheel doesnt really work any more keyboard has been fine. Had it for 2.5 years now

      • volume wheel can be fixed by spray WD40 into it.
I did, work as a charm.

Bought a yellow switch board years ago and it's still fine.

    Edit: was actually orange 🍊

  • Why oh why is the wrist pad not magnetic, it just sits there and slides around.

    • going to put double sided tape on mine

  • all the blackwidows i have owned have all ended up with ghosting keys and i only got them for the macro buttons now the v3 doesnt have them i wouldnt waste my money on one

I bought the Deathstalker v2 pro last week. It's the only one I liked when i tested many keyboards- paid pretty much full price after a failed eBay attempt to get one cheap.

I noticed it will disconnect from the wireless dongle - particularly when the PC isn't being used (locked) for an extended period. After unlocking it will sporadically disconnect and misbehave, missing keys when typing etc.

I then found out me Mrs razor keyboard does the same - she got hers a few weeks ago but never told me about it.

I've done extensive research and found the issue is with the Razer synopsis software. It's been reported buggy for years.

I've done some troubleshooting of my own to help it stabilise. So far so good, even with the software running.

    What I did:

    • Disable all USB 'allow to power off' settings in device manager
    • disable USB suspend state in Win power settings
    • fully uninstall the Razer software
    • uninstall ALL (inc hidden) Razer drivers in device manager
    • reboot and reinstall the software - confirm the device manager has not re-enabled allow to power off
    • plug the wireless dongle into the USB c cable provided, with the Razer adapter.

    Hope this helps someone.

Worst case, the fix, according to people on internet forums, is deinstall and not use Razer software, using windows drivers. The downside is you pretty much loose RGB control and custom settings.

I've also had no issues using it on Bluetooth on my work laptop - with full Razer software installed. Bluetooth does disable some of the advanced lighting settings.

Got one of these last prime day ($97) has been great. Spent a good bit of time researching keyboards, there are negative comments/reviews about ALL of them if you read enough reviews. Lots of hate for the software too, but again its been fine.

Maybe it starts playing up in 2 years, hopefully not but when purchased on sale thats not outrageous.

    • Wow that is good! I paid $329 for the deathstalker wireless. I am a bargain hunter but haven't seen this gone on sale recently and got fed up with a failed eBay purchase (he sent the wrong keyboard). Sometimes I just have to say 'screw it' with frustration and just go out and get something 'now'. Even if it goes against every 'cheap' bone in my body :-D

I hope mine last a lot longer than a few years

  • How do you apply the cash backs?
