FIBA Basketball World Cup: All Boomers + Team USA + Finals Games Free & Live on ESPN @ Kayo Sports

2210

Get behind the Boomers - Bronze is the new standard after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Now Patty, Joe and the next generation have their sights firmly fixed on Gold.

The attitude and commitment of all those involved in the Boomers program over the past 20-odd years is nothing short of inspiring; good blokes - that realise they are extremely fortunate to land multimillion dollar mercenary contracts - who choose to unite under the Aussie, Indigenous and Torres Strait flags every couple of years.

Huge game against Germany Sunday arvo after crushing Finland

    Thanks!

  • Tried watching F1 practice when Riccardo came back and wouldn't stream.

Showing my ignorance of Kayo here. Watching the Boomers isn't free because you need at least a basic $25 per month Kayo sub to register, right?

        Ah, thanks!

Thank you sir! Was literally just looking for a resource on where to watch the FIBA games.

  • +16

    OK Boomers

  • +1

Well I'm an idiot, signed up for Kayo on friday night to watch the game after my stream kept failing.

Great find, just wondering if a direct link to Kayo Freebies might help:

    https://kayosports.com.au/sports/sport!basketball/series-fib…

You have to go through the usual stuff to register, name, e-mail etc, then tell us your favourite teams…but worth it.

Will we get a public holiday if they win?

    • -1

No, because Basketball isn't as popular as soccer. Other than some right wing friends on Facebook that are upset at people focusing on women's sports, no one is talking about this.

      • +1

        "Right wing nutters"

        Fixed it for you

        • Conservative nutters

        • I think some of my friends found my comment and negged me 🤣

      • +4

You mean the female soccer players already back playing in front of crowds of 150 people on a weekly basis ?

      • +2

Because it was a home World Cup in football, yes. Even if it was women, people were jumping on the bandwagon and now have jumped off now.

    • I reckon boomers winning is even more difficult considering US dominates the sport.

    • they will get a statue if they reach 4th place.

  • -1

Whats with the team usa squad?? No Lebron and Stephen Curry??

    • +3

US normally only put up their best players for the Olympics, not the world cup.

      • Wow so world cup is not basketball no.1 torunament, interesting.

    • US still the favourites but not expected to be as dominant

    • This tournament is considered a third tier competition. As such, the US team are only sending their youth & fringe national team players.

    • +1

US stars/veterans often only play once in FIBA/Olympics to tick boxes add these gold medals to their CV.

Nowhere near as passionate for their flag as Aussie and other Euro teams in finals contention and most dont make themselves available for selection for either tournament.

      • So the team that win the world cup arent really no.1??

        • +1

everyone knows that if US send their best 12, they will win, no contest.

and they will most likely win with second/third/fourth string teams as their talent pool is drawn from hundreds of NBA players.

The challenge for other teams like Spain, France, Germany, Serbia, Lithuania, Argentina, Australia and Canada is to make it past each other and then 'have a crack' at the US in the finals.

its not all about being number 1, but actually getting on the podium…

        • +3

Olympics is definitely considered more prestigious in basketball.

But you can only play the team that turns up.

        • +1

World talent is starting to catch up. Once they start losing a few of these im sure US will start bringing in their top stars. But i also guess the biggest goal for them is nba championship and the top stars want to limit their number of games to keep them in top form for that especially as they are aging

          • +1

@Bluey123: Top talent in the NBA is all about load management these days. NBA stars don’t play for pride, they play for $$$ and glory. Look at the all star weekend these days, mainly the sink comp. The best dunkers in the game are too scared about their reputation to compete in it.

Streamotion (who run Kayo and Binge) is the worst streaming platform. Their AppleTV app absolutely is absolutely horrendous. Why do companies insist on using their awful UI instead of the one that's been developed by Apple completely baffles me.

    • +1

This. One of the reasons I only occasionally subscribe to Binge/Kayo, the UI is so unintuitive and seems to get in the way of watching the content - I’m also using Apple TV so not sure if it’s any better on other platforms

      • +1

The thing that I don't get with Kayo is why can't I just have on the screen the sport that I am interested in? I only have Kayo for F1. Why do I have to scroll through endless tiles for sports that I have zero interest in? It's so frustrating.

      • It's not.
It's a steaming pile, but it's far cheaper than Foxtel and fairly reasonably priced if you share a login and grab the occasional discount offer.

  • +1

Wish this was on free tv instead. Easier to get partners and families who arent into basketball to watch on free tv then to go through an app and sign up. I doubt the women soccer would be as popular for everday people if you made them go through an app to watch. but nevertheless at least its possible to watch for free :)

    • +1

yes - those girls deserved every bit of the attention and support but half the reason Matlidas blew up was hype from Channel 7.

The Boomers have a very dedicated and loyal fanbase which keeps growing each year and the team we have now is full of quality NBA talent - the best we have ever stumped up by some way.

they will get more coverage once finals start next week

    • Channel 9 has some of the friendly games as free replay https://www.9now.com.au/boomers-vs-world - but no live stream of the actual world cup.

  • Dang, signed up friday to Kayo for a month just to watch this.
