10% off $250 Coles MasterCard Digital Gift Cards ($7 Purchase Fee Applies) @ Giftcards.com.au » All Comments

      • i've use the same email address 5 times using the same prestige card. 4 other times with my partners email address using her own citi prestige card

    • You mean 9x10?

      • Thats correct 9 x 10 gift cards.

  • +3

Just bought 4 to pay my rates. Came through straight away.
Taking a while to apply the payments with Gold Coast City Council BPoint payment system though. Asking me to wait 5 minutes between each payment otherwise getting an error message. Still, saving over $67 + getting credit card points for ~20 minutes work. Not too bad.

    • Yeah, I was thinking of doing it to get my council rates paid.

      It's a minor saving tho, like $100

Last time, I had 5x fkybuy bonus so it was closer to 10% off

  • Tried both Commbank & Citibank cards, no luck. Transactions failed.

    • I could only get it to work on edge. Doesnt seem to work on chrome/firefox

      • Thanks, tried Edge, still no go for me. :(

    • Looks like my streak has come to an end. Have toggled between:

VPN, browser, machine, mobile data, credit card, email, phone number and all returns a failed transaction.

  • Noob question. Can these cards be added into Apple/Google Pay?

    • I purchased 9.12am today and received all cards in 2 mins. Paid by Citi CC.
Tried to add Google Wallet but an error saying this card is not supported by Google Wallet.
Will use them to buy SB supermarket GCs, Woolworth GCs, Prezzie and swap to all various gift cards, pay rates via PayPal / Post Billpay etc.
Only the small petty amount (>$1.0) leftover is to purchase Amazon gift card to finish it off.

      • Ok thanks

      • SB wouldn’t accept these cards. I tried to link them. It comes up with an error message saying ‘ for security reasons, you can’t link this card to this ShopBack account’

        • Strange - I didn't have this problem.

          • @pyr0: didn't have problem until 18th perhaps shopback changed something to reject these?
tried again hour ago with no luck after full 24 hour break just in case i applied to many in the past week

            • +1

@mantra: You're on cooldown. Haven't figured out the exact trigger but SB will put you on cooldown (should be 7 days) when you've done too much stuff* in a given timeframe.

I triggered one SB account during the 2000 flybuys points promo last week at Coles, inceptioning gift cards. That account already had a lot of payment cards attached so I removed some during the inceptioning. That may have been the trigger.

My other account I didn't do that with and it is still going strong.

              • @wavesgreen: thank you, five cards attached to my account got this error at around 3 cards
removed one and realized removing them would invalidate cashback so quickly reapplied and hope i still get cashback
24 hours after the error it allowed me to add two more cards but adding more is getting rejected so best i wait 7 days

thought maybe 5 card limit? hoping will work before 31st got two challenges left to complete

                • @mantra: Nobody really knows the exact trigger limit(s), it's kinda BS. This is all just theoretical trying to figure out what SB has put in place.

It's also super frustrating when there are back-to-back promotions going on in the marketplace increasingly at the moment and it means you get locked out of participating. SB also gets less engagement so it's a lose result for them as well.

  • I am traveling at the moment so dont have my rates account number with me. Is there anyway to find it out ?
    (for Brisbane).

Damm it I have run out of things to prepay. Maybe will have to stock up on gift cards then.

    • Can you log in to your Council and find it by entering your address?

      • Thanks for the suggestion. I had never setup an online account will do that.
But I found out they actually work on weekends via the call centre so called them up and found out the info :-)

I guess means now I purchase some more cards later.

  • Where is best to use the little leftovers of the card like a dollar or less?

    • +2

      Buy Amazon GC on Amazon

  • Still works, just bought $2.5k GC to pay health insurance before premium increases

    • Gah - my health insurer only allows 4 online payments per day :(

  • Does anyone know if using prepaid debit cards (like Zip Pay) as payment method work for this?

    • +2

I always got the Transaction failed message when I tried to use the Zip Single Use Debit

    • +1

ZIP, STEP PAY WON'T WORK BUT MONEYME WORKS

  • Thanks a lot BargainsGrabber. Have successfully purchased a few sets.

Most success was using mobile data through the Edge browser on my phone

  • Thank you OP. Health fund premium sorted for next year. The transaction went smoothly with Chrome, cards received within 2 mins after the invoice.

  • Do we have a list of retailers, energy providers that do not accept this card? Or is there any general rule other than testing them?

    • +1

If you can pay using auspost billpay you can use these cards.

But yes just trial and error

      • I used Auspost billpay twice then third failed but it worked the next day. May need to do it gradually.

  • What's wrong, I'm trying to purchase 6x via combank, boq, and westpac all failed with the same name, email address like yesterday, any idea? I used incognito on my phone but it doesn't work

  • Amex, Nab creditcard Failed.
    Only Citi Mastercard successful.

  • Bought 10 just now, it randomly worked for me. Bought 8 then 2.

Tried 2 again and it failed.

    So here's my theory lol

You can't buy more than 10 per 24 hours, this also confirmed by the support person. But it took maybe more than 24 hours for me, maybe 26 hours, I don't know.

You need to call CommBank and tell that this is not a fraud transaction, you are buying these gc for groceries. They'll lift the ban. Might as well take some time to reflect on your card.

    Enjoy.. 😂

I wasn't going to pay a bill, needed to buy lenses and speakers.

    • Theory fail

Can reject even for people who never bought before or even buying 1

      It's some random bs

      • true, i use mobile internet from my husband to purchase for the first purchase, it didn't go through. yesterday went smoothly under my name. today nothing works

    • I purchased 5 x 10 on the first day. 6th failed but worked the next day plus one more. On the third day purchased 5 x 10 again. Today just one but not tried anymore. All on AMEX. My theory would be you can buy 5 x 10 per day.

  • Just split my rego quarterly so I can pay full amount with VicRoads and tried to pay with sniip but they "the biller doesn't accept this payment method" ☹️

    • Why dont u just pay on Vicroads website?

      • Do they allow online split payment at all?

        • +1

Nah it says they don't accept split payment, but splitting the bill in quarterly payments means it's now less than $250.

          • @captbollocks: You will need to pay the card payment fee anyway. If you dont have HCC/PCC there is an extra charge fot quarterly bill too. Just do it on the website if you are willing to bear that surcharge.

        • No, the only way to split pay for Vicroads is to pop into one of their service centre, join the dauting queue and annoy the guy behind the window. Hate it but I still do that every year:)

      • Cool - it works if I forgo bPay. Just needed to pay a $1.20 card transaction fee per quarterly payment but I still come out on top!

        Thanks!

        • forgo bPay??

  • +1

Glad I waited for the rush to go through.
I bought 1st batch earlier - came through after 2 mins, now onto 2nd batch.

  • +1

I bought 5K by 5 batches. All of them came within 5 minutes after purchase.

    • which card did you use?

  • bought about 10 - 15 cards each day. Worked fine with AMEX every time.

just tried to order some more and it's saying "Transaction failed, please contact customer service."

Unlike the Amazon saga, it didnt take my money this time.

Looks like the run has come to the end for me ;(

    • Just tried Amex and also an hour ago and got the same, Amex customer support says there's no issues on their end so more than likely a giftcards thing. Bummer

      • Definitely giftcards issue. Just purchased my third lot of 10 for the day with AMEX. It's so weird how it works for some people and not others.

  • +2

Thanks. Was able to buy 40 of these in a day on my Macquarie Account before they locked it for suspected scam and had to call up.

Had no luck buying any on Up Bank or ING; Transaction failed.

  • Decided to try my luck, (only tried once)

    Didn't work

"Transaction failed, please contact customer service."

    Attempted using HSBC.

    • Try to get 4 cards or below. That is below $1000.

      • i tried to get 4cards with combank still failed

"Transaction failed, please contact customer service."

  • When does it end?

    • +1

OzBargain deal states midnight/11:59pm August 21.

Coles.com.au states "Offer available from 16/8/23 9am to 23/07/23, While stocks last."

Giftcards.com.au T&C states "Offer available from 16/8/23 9am. Limited Time Only."

      • +1

Last time it ended early because they ran out of "stock"

        • I wonder how much stock they have..

          • @AkuroPlays: Billions worth

          • @AkuroPlays: Every promotional campaign will have target sales figure, or a variable target based on some other metric, ie number of individual purchasers, site hits, August numbers vs May numbers, etc.

      • Damm, I literally have a new Westpac CC on the way and I need to hit 4k spend!

        Ohwell

        • +1

Check the westpac app. You should be able to use a digital version right away. Last time I had a westpac card I had met the minimum spend before I actually received the card.

          • @endolphin: I have no email or details from Westpac? They called me, and emailed me saying I'm approved 3-4 days ago.

I may call Monday, and ask for details and maybe I can buy 2.5k worth Monday! I got my rego, council rates due plus last time they were handy for wine! Lol

    • It will probably end when the beancounter is confident of showing a decent top-line growth both QOQ and YOY.

  • can i use Coles Group and Myer gift cards to pay for it?

    • +1

      No

  • +2

Paid council, water, gas, every single thing.
    This deal is so addictive.
What is the risk of keeping these cards for few months without using them?

Imagine a life where this deal lasted for years.

    • What is the risk of keeping these cards for few months without using them?

      Not insignificant.

    • +2

The risk of keeping these cards is you might come back and see it have $0 because someone as has used it.

    • +3

based on recent history, you may see this deal once every quarter followed by sale of physical cards at Coles (which usually doesn't have great availability).
Who knows for how long will Coles take loss on this. But based on past data, I usually buy to pay bills upto 2-3 months in advance as this deal or instore usually happens every qtr.

      • In-store is better, my flybuys always has 5x or 10x bonus pts and it stacked.

At least people can abuse the system to get more, but if history is anything to go by, they'll probably close that loophole the next time because unfortunately people abuse things and then they notice and they close it.

So I got true 10% off, that's why I'm not really jumping at tho…even tho still solid.

        • i thought flybuys doesn't work for gift cards?

          • +1

@neezy: You do get the standard flybuys points when purchasing these in-store when 10% off.

            • +1

@Yola: It worked for me, and I got bonus 5x! I can screenshot my flybuys account LOL

              Maybe they changed it?

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: I would like to view it as you mentioned several times. I doubt it.

                • +2

@Neoika: I got standard flybuys on the recent 2000pts promo in-store. I had 5x points offer activated as well but that was only applied to the groceries I bought in the same transaction as the gift card.

                • @Neoika: How do I show last year? Seems I can only go back 4-5 months.

              • @[Deactivated]: Never worked for me. Don't think they changed it. It's strange you got it.

    • i think it's been removed. just goes to Coles Facebook page.

      • +2

@neezy link goes to the post advertising this deal (not removed) - make sure you go to the mobile link in web broswer (otherwise app will just redirect to coles FB page)

Yeah, doesn't work for me. Seem to inly go https://m.facebook.com/175168509213839/ 🤷🏾‍♂️

          • @neezy: @neezy try this /6361140187316672 (your last digit is missing)

            • @ilikedeals: yeah, still doesn't work. dunno why the end is getting cuf off 🤷🏾‍♂️ oh well, no biggie, just odd., lol

  • When using these for like council rates, how do you use multiple cards? I forgot.

I feel like you end up with left over on the cards, and have to remember. Last time I used it for wine, told my broker $250 per fard so was okay.

But I can't remember if and how I used for Council rates & rego and how I did it!

If I go to buy wine from Qantas website $330, it only lets you put in 1 credit card? And max is $250 a gift card?

    • Go to the utility/council website most will allow you to enter the amount you wish to pay, and enter $250. If they have a surcharge lower the amount you pay to include it. If you cannot do that use Post BillPay and enter $250, the card directly, or add the card to Pay Pal and use that for payment. If this does not work you may be able to call and use the card on the phone.

      • +3

So many basic questions. I doubt further on the flybuys bonus points worked like he said.

        • It worked for me, how do I find my old history from last year? I can screenshot.

        • +1

Agree Neoika, if only people read the thread they would see the answers. It's not that hard just need to go to view all and do a word search on what you want to know.

  • Is it possible to combine the cards. Want to buy something for about $1k but the online merchant doesn't take multiple cards as payment method.

Look at PayPal but you can only add funds from bank accounts not credit cards

    • +1

You can use these cards to buy store gift card first.

      • +1

Handy, can you buy Wish? I spose double dipping buying BWS with 5% off…suddenly it's a solid 10%+

I just don't wanna keep the cards, unfortunately it's risky! It sucks that they get hacked!

        • Yes, add the card to Paypal and purchase gift card via NRMA/ RACV Benefits… Discounted eGift Cards.

          • @jimojr: Oh awesome.
            Definitely handy

Last time I bought these, all the ladies in the line asked me but none went to grab any

Most people don't have thousands of dollars to leave sitting on GCs even if it saves them money long term.

  • +6

    130 cards. Thanks!

    • Mad… that's $231.30 x 130 = $30,069…

      For a card value of $32,500, and profit wise: $32,500 - $30,069 = $2431.

I'm surprised your bank didn't block you from these high value transactions!!

      • +1

I have done 170 so far. All purchased by the same AMEX or its subs. No blocking this time but last time they did once even though I purchased less than this time.

        • Yeah Amex seems pretty intelligent with your card usage with respect to fraudulent transaction prevention. I always max out my limit during the 10% sales and they never declined a single transaction. Probably got to worry about Amex closing down our accounts though :)

          • @truetypezk: I dont go over the limit. I add funds to it as I go.

    • +2

Man, you are the hero, but still long way to go.
I'm very surprised you made about $7400 profit but didn't upvote the both post.

      • Few comments down and another user has claimed to buy 400+ card but was an in-store deal (which definitely requires more effort!)

        • It's funny, the people who claim they've dropped $30,000 to hold in prepaid credit cards are the ones looking for $12 SIM cards as well

Don't believe everything you read on this forum.

          • +3
            • -15

              @mrfuku: Fair enough.

I can turn 30k, into way more profit than 2k.
Holy shit, I flip stuff I buy from America for 30-40% profit all the time.

Why would I drop 30k, to make 2k?
Savers spend their whole life saving, rather than earning. (I am guilty of this btw)

How many hours all up to buy these all? How many hours to use them? Im not even rich and make $70 OT, so I would make $700 on a 10 hour shift.

Is it really a saving, when you account the time? How many stores did you visit?

Sorry mate, it's great to save when it's easy. if it's super easy, the effort some people go to I just have to laugh! These online GF are much easier for sure, so it's alot less effort.

You're also the type of person I assume who hid all these GC in stores to get them all to yourself, so that makes you a pretty shitty person on top.

              Each to their own.

              • +2

@[Deactivated]: Lot of projection and assumptions there haha

I am not rich by any means but at my tax bracket it 100% made sense to invest the time, effort, into doing it. I didn't hide any gift cards and never would do something like that.

              • @[Deactivated]: Which products still have a 30 - 40% markup these days (with the rubbish AUD/USD)?

          • +3

@[Deactivated]: Is it posdible some people have to pay a high tax bill plus councils rates for multiple properyies? Everyone's circumtances are different.

      • +4

The best part is, the profit tax free.

    • Where are you going to use it?

  • Oh dear, I held off this long, attempted to purchase 5. Transaction failed :(

I've got a google temporary hold but no transaction.
    Should I try again?

    • Attempted again.
Chrome and CBA credit card. Transaction failed but no charge yet…..

      Another browser? Another day?

      • +1

its been happening from ystd, combank, westpac, boq, and st.george all failled, maybe the promotion is over? out of stock?

        • +1

Giftcards.com.au have something wrong with their payments system. It declined all attempts for both me and my wife to pay with our CBA Mastercards. I rang CBA who deny that they are declining the transactions. I rang Giftcards, who say that their computer is getting a reply that their payment portal does not understand, and therefore they decline at their end. Luckily, no such problem with Amex.

  • +1

Worked a treat with Amex, bought 10. Free rewards points and ~8% discount on where mastercard is accepted! Thanks OP.

  • Hmmm anyone used these to top up Revolut? Zero surcharge as treated like debit maybe, seeing as someone said paying ATO was a very low 0.2% surcharge…?

  • +1

This is a wonderful way to save money when paying large bills for things like Council Rates, Health Fund Contributions, etc. You need to invest time however to pay in a series of $250 dollups. You also need to be prepared, if the sites you are paying on flag your transactions as "suspicious" and stop taking additional payments, to then go via a 3rd party intermediary such as PostbillPay or PayPal.

One note however is that to buy this card, the seller, Giftcards.com.au, has something wrong in their system that declines payments using Commonwealth Bank Mastercards. I rang them and CBA. CBA claim that they are not declining the transaction. Giftcards says that they are getting a response that their payment system does not understand. Very frustrating. Luckily, I could then pay by Amex instead.

    • Why would you want to pay by cba when you have Amex though? If you got the platinum edge card, this is now considered as a supermarket transaction and you get 3x pts.

      • Same thing for CommBank awards card. You get 1.2 Qantas points on awards black or 3 CommBank points per $

      • My AMEX declines but my CBA works… :(

    • +1

I can confirm this isn't true. Purchased 10 on CommBank credit card just now with no issues at all

    • +1

The site just frankly likes to block random cards and there's nothing you can do about it, it's the reason for most of the negative votes. It blocks my own Amex but works with my Citibank.

  • +3

I prepaid my private health insurance yesterday - had to phone up and get them to process each one over the phone.
The customer service rep on the phone was very patient and polite, and I explained/shared the ozbargain website and details when my payments were all processed.

  • +1

This is great thanks. Purchased 20 and paid health insurance upfront with Medibank for a year with no issues. Now using for ATO tax bill again no issues

Can also confirm it worked with shopback so getting another 1-5% back on-top. Bloody good!!

    • what bank did you use?

      • CommBank awards credit card. Bought in 2 lots of 10. Just changed name and phone number to my missus number. Same email and all. I think it uses the phone to determine a customer

    • Sorry what do you mean by shopback 1-5% back?

      • +1

Shopback is an app that offers cashback on purchases including gift cards. For Amazon as an example they're doing 1.75% cash back. So use this deal + bought some Amazon cards for extra money back

    • How did you prepay Medibank please? was it via the phone?

      • Easily done via the app even if you are on direct debit. You can prepay up to 12 months. Only thing you need to evaluate is cashflow vs 7% saving vs earning capacity on the cash. In general it's a no brainer to prepay at least 6 months

        • found the option now , thank you

  • Any other way how i can buy Woolworth group egift card using this card as it doesn’t accept directly, and paypal said that card is linked with other account which is not true as i just bought it.

    • +1

This means the card has been double issued. Check the balance. If it is unused, use it as fast as you can, as if the other person uses first then you'll need to be calling support.

      • Thnx, balance is still there.

  • Tried a few credit card different browser/Incognito/mobile/etc. Everytime got the same message "Transaction failed, please contact customer service."
Customer service says - bank is blocking
Bank says - no transaction received contact vendor

Did too much work for an effective 7.5% discount now. I would have loved to avail it…but I think I am officially done with giftcard.com.au website.

    • Yeah probably not worth it if not working easily, but I could rarely find the physical ones when those deals were on. So this ended up being much better for me, luckily.

  • Virgin Money Visa card working consistently. No such luck with NAB Rewards which only did the trick once. CS tells me it is because transactions are limited to one per customer but that is of course not true.

  • What's the advantage of loading the digital gift card funds to PayPal account?
Also apologies if been asked before - can we use these gift cards at Prezzee?

    • +2

Some providers (e.g. Woolworths Gift Card site) don't accept the cards directly, but will accept Paypal as payment.

      Yes, Prezee accept them

      • Thanks, although comments above seem to suggest that Prezzee blocks the coles prepaid mastercards..

        • +1

I've never been able to add one to Prezzee. I add to PayPal first, then use that to buy from Prezzee.

  • Pro tip if you have the Amex Plat edge get triple points, 2313 x 3 = 6,939 points per batch of 10! Even if you redeem GC that is close to $35 worth of GC.

    • you are so lucky, my amex plat edge keeps showing transactions failed. Can only use citi mastercard.. :(

      • Try a different phone number or email. Different browser, different name address etc.

    • how do you get triple points?

      • Amex Plat Edge gives triple points for spending at supermarkets, the charge comes up as Coles.

  • Anyone know if these work on Paypal? If so, can we use multiple in one transaction?

    • They do but you can only use one at a time.

      • Sorry to be a dolt but -

On Amazon, I just bought myself a gc and immediately redeemed it.

Is it same process with PayPal?

        • +2

It's okay we all had to learn. As long as you don't ask things that have already been answered many times. You add the card just like you would a CC (into your wallet). You then use it the same as you would a CC but only for something that costs $250 max.

          • +1

@Yola: Got it. Will do that now. Thx very much for explanation.

  • Will this offer still be available tomorrow?

    • +3

Nobody knows but last time it was pulled early.

    • Expires on 23/08 if not sold out.

  • Just done mine for 1 as I'm testing my companies GC portal first. Tax Invoice/Confirmation came within 1 minute. Let's see if I get the card.
EDIT - Got the card in 5 mins

  • Tried online with my AMEX multiple times and it always gives error on payment screen.

    • +1

That is so odd I have purchased 200 now with my Ultimate AMEX.

      • +1

why do u stop at 200?

        • I am still going.

      • how do you plan to get rid of them all?

        • They are scheduled to arrive 10 per day. 80% will go to PAYE tax and the rest council rates x 3, water bills x 3, gas, electricity, and whatever else I can use them for, especially if they do not take AMEX. Usually I do 100% to tax but this time have managed to get enough so can do other bills.

          • @Yola: omg, I'll assume you run your own business and hence need to pay PAYE tax. Lucky in that case, for individuals churning that many cards will be 1-2 years worth which offsets its benefit given 5.5%+ bank interest rates.

            • @nsingh21: Yes now that interest rates have gone up the benefits have changed slightly. But for me, the amount I have purchased is less than one PAYE installment.

      • Yeah I don't think I've had AMEX decline a purchase, ever. My AMEX always approves so fast I swear it's not actually checking against my account. I always say AMEX just auto approve and they'll get their money later by hook or by crook.

        • I keep the account in balance by adding funds as I keep purchasing. They did reject a purchase in the last deal because they thought it was a scam.

  • +1

Managed to use leftovers at HCF Thank You to buy Giftcards at exact or near exact values. Amazon gift card normally 4% off and with this is around 11%

  • -4

I made payment to ATO, anyone knows how to withdraw without a letter from accountant?
I googled it but there is no clear answer.

  • Hmm - trying to get a few more cards this morning, but their payment gateway seems borked and not handling payments despite 2fa on cards for me.
Anyone else got probs right now?

    • been getting 10 - 15 each day with amex with no issues at all. Seems it's stopped working for me since the weekend and tried several times. But unlike the Amazon GC saga, they haven't been taking the money out of my CC.

Just tried now and still no luck. Hoping someone fixes it this morning so i can buy some more before the deal runs out.

      • yeah, was just looking at getting a last lot in before the offer finishes, but maybe its not happening this AM.
At least I have spent all my cards already.
And there is always next time (in a few months time)

      • I had one fail this morning, but not charged but one worked just now. Both AMEX subs of the same card.

    • +1

FYI, I successfully purchased one at 7:42am AEST

      • +1

damn had me excited.. i just tried @9am with Amex for 10 and still "Transaction failed, please contact customer service."

    • +1

      Working for me @8am AEST

      Using CBA Ultimate Award

  • Can you use these MCs to buy Coles Myer cards online?

    • where do you get discounted coles myer gc?

      • +1

I usually get them from AMEX, Westpac and Commonwealth bank offers.

  • +2

    Still working 9:40am today.

  • Hmm - post 9am and the website still showing the offer…
    edit - wrong day!
    we have until Wednesday 9am!

    • Offer available from 16/8/23 9am to 23/08/23

it doesnt say what time it finishes on the 23rd, only that it starts at 9am on the 16th.

      • +1

Initially the deal was set to end on 21/08, but I noticed they changed it on Coles website

        • Thats why I got confused! I am sure I saw 21st somewhere

          • +1

@Zippy7: You definitely saw it correctly :)
I only amended the deal yesterday

        • -1

They didn’t sell enough because of all the Ozbargain neggers making people think twice about purchasing

        • Actually 21/7, good ol' Coles copy-pasting. Even when they changed the date to the 23rd, they still have it as /7.

  • Has anyone tried using them for overseas purchases?

    • Yes, didn't work for OF :8

  • +1

Just used 2x $250 card to pay for my Monash Health bill. Worked perfectly!

Hopefully they are not charged back!

  • -3

Anyone considered paying their electricity bill or other bill way in excess and then asking for a refund back to bank acct?

  • Boo, I'm getting transaction failed on all my cards now.

    • that seems to have been the best way to get through - I've made 4 purchases but the only way I got this working was buying on different cards. First I used credit cards but eventually switched to even my debit card for the last 2 orders.

Good run, nice little easy money earning. Come the next round though I'm not going to have as many options to use the cards on.

      • Hmm I might try my debit cards, worth a shot.

  • Can I purchase these. Use sniip and then pay via bpay into my Amex and/or Mastercard?

    • +1

      No.

Although you may see Sniip say that you can pay all BPAY bills through Sniip, that is not actually true. There are a number of BPAY biller types that are blocked by Sniip, as outlined in their FAQ:

I tried adding my BPAY Biller Code and it says, ‘Blocked Biller’, what do I do?

Each BPAY biller is reviewed by Sniip to ensure it is in a permitted industry. If a biller has been restricted by us, you will receive a ‘blocked biller’ message when you try to process the bill payment.

Due to the risk profile of certain billers, Sniip has initially restricted certain sectors.

      These categories include:

      • Remittance service provider
      • Charities and Not-for-Profit
      • Intermediaries
      • Pay-day lenders
      • Internet gambling
      • Casinos
      • Goods dealers
      • Foreign exchange currencies
      • Securities and derivatives
      • Managed investment schemes
      • International business operations
      • International students or travel products
      • Hiring and leasing
      • Banking and financial institutions

Any BPAY billers related to credit card statements should be captured under the last dot point and therefore be blocked.

Additionally, some BPAY billers (e.g. ATO) are not completely blocked by Sniip, but you will be blocked from using a Coles Mastercard gift card as a payment method. If you link a Coles Mastercard gift card to your Sniip account and then attempt to use it to send a payment to the ATO, you will get an error saying the biller does not accept that payment method.

  • Can anyone confirm, if can be loaded to the Wise account for the payment to other bank account in Australia? Trying to save some $$. Or any other way to pay to other bank account.

    • No.

    • It used to work, back a couple of months ago. But now it doesn't.

  • I found these good for council rates, or anywhere you can select the amount owed. Left over amounts are a pain to use, probably have to buy discounted gift cards to finish them off.

Alot of websites don't let you use multiple credit cards, so it's pretty bad for buying stuff online.

    • How do you use 2 cards to pay rates if say you owe $500?

  • OMG I'm missing 4 cards and 2 of my cards were already linked to a paypal account.

    • Yeah gotten the linked to PayPal message quite a few times. Reckon it’s a bug but probs worthwhile spending it in case you’re worried.

    • missing as were never sent?

      • Yeah, I found 1.. but one of the batches of 10 I bought they only sent me 7.

    • Yeah got that today as well. Just spend it. I think they're recycling old numbers.

      • I have the same issue and if they are indeed recycling old numbers, would the different date and cvv stop the previous user to use the newly issued card?

        • I believe what might have happened is the previous user used it all up, removed from Paypal but on Paypal's end it takes 24 hours before it gets completely removed from on account to another hence you'll get that message. Although I'm a bit paranoid when seeing that message hence I usually just spend it quickly.

          • @nightelves: Yeah I just immediately spent those ones. Hopefully there's no chargeback or other issue down the line.

  • For those who have purchased these cards using amex, cba, Citi prestige cards etc, do these purchases qualify as ‘supermarket’ spend to qualify for bonus credit card points? I’ve seen reports that they do qualify for amex prestige (although I’ve read previous reports saying they’re not). From personal experience, cba only qualify as normal spend.

    • Purchases of these cards qualified for ANZ bonus credit card spend.

      • Thanks for that. I was more referring to the merchant classification of these gift cards spend as some credit cards award bonus points if they are classified as supermarkets or groceries. I’ve read conflicting reports of whether these are classified as supermarket spend. I’ve used cba and they were not classified as such although the description was ‘Coles group’.

        • Yes it does. It's coming as supermarket for me on CommBank

    • +1

Wookie's wiki has the merchant classification for giftcards.com.au as 5399 - Miscellaneous General Merchandise Stores
On my Citibank Prestige this is not classified as supermarket spend hence I only get 1 point per dollar in total

  • +16

Purchased 12 x 10 = 120 cards in total. Let me tell you what I've learned about their system, for future reference:

Nothing. I couldn't figure it out.

But here are the variables that I changed over hundreds of attempts over the past few days to get my transactions through, and the ones that I think actually matters.
    1. Name - doesn't seem to matter
    2. Billing address - doesn't seem to matter
    3. Phone number - definitely doesn't matter
    4. Email - seems to matter - there were times when putting a different email address with everything else the same lets me successfully purchase
    5. Credit card - definitely matters - no matter how many details I change, I just cannot use the same card to purchase more than 2-3 times in a day. Another thing to note is that I have more success with the major banks - ie. ANZ, Westpac, St George; and none of the small online banks eg. Me, Up or even BOQ, Macquarie worked for me.
    6. Browser - definitely matters - initially just chrome worked. Then chrome incognito, then safari, then microsoft edge. Had various success with each but there are definitely times when changing the browser with all the same details results in successful transaction.
    7. Network - seems to matter - had some success going to the local cafe and using all the same details in the same day for a successful transaction, and then again at the local McDonalds. Same with mobile network.
    8. Device - seems to matter - same details but instead of my Macbook I hopped on my phone, and subsequently my iPad, and got a few more successful transactions with the same details. May be just redundant with browser though because I did try a few different mobile browsers on my mobile devices.

What I 100% can say is that it's all the work of the website - your transactions are not being blocked by the bank. That is of course unless you try a gazillion times and the bank eventually flags them as suspicious transactions.

    • I figured out how it works.

Because you can only make 01 transaction per customer (T&C), your card because it will be blocked.

To have a successful payment, you have to change to a different IP address (use VPN) and different card. It will work.

I got my card blocked with "Transaction failed, please contact customer service." but once I changed things above, it works straight away with same name, address, phone number and email.

Edited: Remember to save the counting of your transaction, try to place 10 cards by 01 transaction.

      • +5

I dont think thats correct becajse myself and many others have used the same card multiple times in the same day to purchase

        • I used the same card on the same day which was ok, but on the next day, it's blocked. So, I think they have a delay before your card is blocked.

          • @LeVuHoang: Real hit and miss.

My citi prestige has worked flawlessly the whole week, multiple purchases on same day, with just email change (all other details the same).
My ANZ Qantas CC kept failing at the 2FA screen last week, but over the weekend has started working again. Was able to put through 3x purchases today with no issues, again with just a email change.

Even the email doesn't have to be particularly different (Gmail + IYKYK)

      • I've used the same card and same network to purchase over different days as well. Also I used some overseas cards and it just straight up didn't work. So… still dunno.

        • The supporter came back to me saying as per T&C, there is 01 transaction per customer. That's why my card is blocked.

          • @LeVuHoang: Potentially but then a whole lot of other people have this issue the first time they try to buy

      • Used the same Westpac credit card to buy over multiple transactions yesterday and today, all worked fine.

Only change I made after hitting 10 cards was to use a different email and different mobile number. Everything else was the same. YMMV

  • Since each card only has $250. How do I do the split payment for my rego that has got $458?

    • You can't, unless you can pay 3 monthly rego instead

    • +2

I pay for 3 months, then what's left I buy a discounted BWS card
Cos I know I can load them onto my account

Good for council rates, good for using through a broker for my wine but can't use it for online much unless you want multiple cards with small amounts I gotta remember to use
Probably can use for Woolworths discounted GC, no idea if they load onto account like BWS.

    • I think you can if you pay rego directly to NSW service

      • Same for VIC, split payment in person only.

      • How to do use these cards to pay for rego… Can you please explain as one card value be 250… so can you use another card after to pay for the remaining balance….

        • i use the reminder for something else, last resort would be woolies gc

          • @ivyholmes: No my question was is there an option after using the first card…we can use the second card for the remaining amount…. also when you buy woolies gc for the remaining balance can you get custom amount for the gc

        • Pretty certain you won't be able to use two Coles Mastercards at once, as most online places will only accept one Mastercard payment details at a time.

Yes, for Woolies gc you can enter a custom amount as long as it's between $5 - $500.

          • @Alinnia: Thank you guys for the feedback… Will try to pay for some bills and the rest use it for woolies gc

            • @ARUN365: Yes you can use coles mc only for online payment, the reminder you can use for woolies, sb, etc. i think woolies is easier since you can put 5.xx (two digit for cents) so you can finish it up full ballance

        • I pay 3 months, then I basically buy a wish or BWS gift card through RAA with 4% off with the remainder.

It's a bit of a pain with left overs, BWS allows you to load GC into your account tho! I'm not sure about Woolworths etc

    • Can you just pay $500 and have $42 credit on your rego (you could always ask for a refund).

      • Ring and ask?

I assume you can use these credit cards over the phone? So sometimes if you ring, they can process it manually for you.

  • Anyone know if "Paypal pay in 4" accept these cards?

    • +1

      Nop

      • Thank you. I'm guessing it isn't possible to load my PayPal account balance with these cards either.

        • "We only support transfers from confirmed banks, not cards, for adding money to PayPal."

  • -2

    10 worked easy with Westpac.

Easy enough to pay my Council rates, Registration & a few other things due.

Dropping two and a half grand, to basically save $160 personally for me isn't worth it.

I mean I just have to work a couple of hours overtime, and not have to stress about using gift cards.

But for some people, they're like amazing at tracking all this stuff or possibly have huge bills. I can understand because the process only took me like a couple of minutes.

99% don't have a spare 10-15k laying around, it comes down to timing aswell!

My council rates rocked up 3 weeks ago, my rego is due this week, I just got a new Westpac CC and have to hit 4k minimum spend blah blah

    • +14

I mean I just have to work a couple of hours overtime, and not have to stress about using gift cards.

YMMV but the satisfaction I get from literally laying in bed spending approx 30mins paying off bills that otherwise I can't get discounts on, expenses taken care of well into next year, all the while accruing 1000's of points at 3x rate by paying with AMEX kinda can't be beat.

These 10% off Digital Coles MasterCards are pretty much the deals of the year for me.

      • +4

The thrill of spending money to save money, while risking getting hacked and losing it all makes me feel alive

      • This -> “satisfaction”. So true, utility maximisation.

  • +1

Is there anyway to spend more than 10 on ATO portal and 5 on easy pay?
Is the limit per 12hrs or 24 hrs for both portals?

    • +1

idk about easypay, but ATO reset every 12 hours for me.

    • 12 hours on each portal, pretty strict on times from my experience. Only other bypass is to use a different payment reference number on easypay (Just tried it)

I also tried to put through a different payment reference on ATO portal, but seems to be 10 total across all reerences.

    • +1

ato portal a bit temperamental.. sometimes it lets 10, sometimes 9, sometimes less in a 12 hour period. I get the feeling it is actually 10 "attempts" per 12 hours ie if you try to do 11 in a 12 hour period, you will only get 9 chances 12 hours later.

      • So moral of story is to only do it 10 times per 12 hours, dont attempt more?

  • Hi all,
Quick questions, can this mastercard buy other gift cards at giftcards.com, ?

  • -4

    When do the cards expire?

    • +11

      hacker alert…

    • The cards I got expired in 2028.

  • I just tried it to top up my Go Card online (Qld public transport) and it doesn't work. Says authorisation failed or something like that.

    • Yeah doesn’t work for me either :(

  • -2

Does anyone know if these gift cards can be used for online Woolies orders? Where it says "Add a gift card" in the online payment section…is it any gift card or just the Woolies gift card?

    • -1

Woolies gift cards or WISH cards

    • +2

These are not treated as a gift card, but rather a prepaid Mastercard with value loaded onto it

  • +1

    Thanks guys. Appreciate your replies.

  • +1

For those with OVO Energy, if you cbf thinking of other ways to use up your remaining balance of a few dollars or a few cents, you may choose to top up in OVO with any amount.

  • -1

Can we use these to prepay utility bills, council rates, rego even if not due? If so, can multiple $250's be used for this purpose or there is a limit.

    • +1

Many comments about this above. Go to view all and do a word search.

    • +1

Just make sure you keep a record of all your cards and what you paid with it in case they decide to refund the overpayment to the original method of payment.

      • Wonder why they would do this?
Anyone tried with vicroads and council rates, any issues?

  • my amex that stopped working last few days.. is now working again and was able to purchase 10 with no problems.

  • As this deal almost ends, anyone going to buy some to keep for some time? Or too risky?

    • +2

I've kept some around for a while before but I think you're better off just overpaying ATO/utilities/rates.

    • +8

You can schedule them to be delivered at a future date. They are not activated until then.

      • Wow really? Might be able to buy heaps and keep paying the ATO then

        • Next time.

    • +2

I bought extra and converted them to activ visa.
Currently no free conversion. Cost is $1.

      • How do you convert?

        • +3
        • @RTY I just tried purchasing Activ Visa egift card using the Coles Mastercard gift card via Paypal and it keeps giving me the error "Check your account with your card issuer before trying this card again."

Does this method still work for you or they changed it?

          • @Alinnia: after applying the code, refresh the page first then continue to check out with paypal

        • @RTY Great, that works. Thanks.

      • +1

What's the incentive to do this? Isn't it the same kind of thing and you waste $1?

        • Was wondering this as well. Are the Activ visa cards more secure?

          • +1

@1d0ntkn0w: Card can be used instore when added to your mobile wallet

            • @littleburrito: Thanks for the clarification. Not bad but depends where you do most of your in store shopping. If you buy from Woolworths, etc. Buy e-gift cards at discounted rates of up to 5% off to basically stack 7% + 5% off your supermarket or Big W shop.

But I guess it's good for other things like restaurants, etc.

              • @0 0 0: Personally I haven't tried but I think it would work if I buy discounted gc (Eg 20x points apple this week or 20x TCN tomorrow at woolworths) in store

              • @0 0 0: You can't use these Gift Cards to buy Woolies Gift Cards or WISH Gift cards. Can't use for online orders at Woolies either.

                • +1

@eddieboy2: People have mentioned buying Woolies GC by adding these cards to PayPal.

                  • +1

@Yola: I can confirm this works

      • -1

        Great idea

  • Anyone knows if we can pay Australia Post insurance with multiple cc ? I know that aami can by calling them.

    • They are online cards only. I tried at Auspost & they said they couldn't manually enter the CC details but needed a physical card.

      • Ok thanks

      • This would depend on the person. I have paid over the phone by dictating the card details.

  • tried to pay rates for Frankston City Council over a few days… can't seem to make last $250 payment through epathway, "declined due to policy reason". council may be on to it (though I did use their chat feature yesterday to ask how much I had outstanding as I couldn't remember how many payments I had made so my account may be flagged, will try again in a few days

    • I'd say its automatically flagged for using many different cards, probably picked up as potentially fraudulent

  • +1

Never had any issues so far except now.
It keeps saying transaction is failed

    • Not able to add to cart now..

      • still working and managed to get 10

        • Me too.

      • Change browser or clear your cache

  • Looks like the party is over - hope everyone got a decent haul

  • +1

Rip it's over - Glad I kept trying, I managed to snag 50 cards today after getting failed transactions in all previous days.
Only 1 was already linked to another PayPal account so quickly spent it on Amazon credit. I'll take the 1/50 odds tbh.

  • looks like party over early not showing discount.

  • Not showing for me either :(
Missed out - only bought 2 to test out and wanted to buy a few more today

  • +1

They always end early. Better luck in next quarter.

    • It almost lasted for the duration of the promo. Last time they had 10%, it lasted until Saturday morning.

  • +1

42 cards.. should have got more

  • fml only got 30 … had the money ready to get another 15 today

  • +5

I got 260. Dont neg me but was still hoping to get a few more.

    • Well done. Can i ask how you bought so many? Tried to buy more and kept getting transaction failed.

      • +1

All with AMEX one card or its 4 subs. Different emails. Kept topping up the AMEX account. Did 4 or 5 per day but only 2 today. Out of 30 x 10 transactions 4 failed.

    • That’s a lot!! You must have lots of bills or tax bill to pay!!

      • +1

        Yes PAYE tax.

    • Last offer ended a day earlier too. Was hoping it'll be midnight tonight cos I'm waiting for funds to clear to get more.

      • Ditto. Was aiming to get another 10 pieces.

    • Got 250 myself, was hoping to get more as well :(

    • +1

Thanks a nice $4550 of tax savings (tax free too!)

      • Nice! hope you used Amex Plat Edge cos thats 84000 Krisflyer points!

    • -1

Cards not working now, are you scared?

  • Do ppl think Paypal cares repeated cards being linked and removed?

    • Yep, you will have your account restricted, guaranteed.

    • +2

I had no issues adding and removing around 40 cards

      • It is all very dynamic/relatively depending on your account history and usage. However your account will definitely get restricted eventually. They will ask you for a range of documents to reinstate the account, if you can provide them satisfactorily.

        • Thanks. What kind of documents will they ask for? I’m guessing just receipts/invoices for the cards

          • @El-Rhi: It is really hard to say. I have been asked to provide ID, proof of address, card statements for all cards linked to the accounts, explanation of past transactions, particularly incoming payments. I would say dont go to fast with Paypal, probably just like 5 cards max/day.
Btw I feel it might got more to do with the frequency rather than the total number of cards linked. I have added and removed more than 1k cards in my PayPal accounts but the restrictions always happen when I do to many (like 10+) on a single day.

    • My account was restricted but it's easy to unblock it after some security checks.

    • Can get your account flagged and blocked from adding cards for a brief period. Can last for a few hours up to 24 hours sometimes.

If you get blocked form adding them best to wait and try add them again after a few hours, continually trying will increase the blocks duration.

      Got this from support ^

  • Please bring this back Giftcards.com.au. It’s win-win-win for everyone!

    • +1

Agree, but a lose for either Coles or the card operator. The free money is coming from somewhere.

      • I guess not every one uses straight away . i still have some balances from previous deals.

-if a few millions is collected by selling cards this way every quarter they can use this money to generate revenue more than 7% for sure . free cash flows .

        • Expired or left over money or lost card money belongs to them.

        • They have your transactions data they might be able to use or sell.

google search gave me below link

      • This card has a very limited use nowadays getting more and more not accepted online. And this card cannot be used at POS at a brick n mortar shop/service. They are banking on people who buy and leave it or forget to use, or leave a small balance in the card

    • they make heaps, for every $1 not spent they can lend out like $10. with higher Net interest margins now they are making a killing.

You can add this card as a payment method in the ShopBack App.

10 cards short of 100! Oh well, fingers crossed they have another one later this year 🤞🤞

  • I used the cards to pay my council bill, worked without any issues

  • +1

wish i could have bought more but faced the dreaded transaction unsuccessful issues constantly

  • Does anyone know if you can use these cards to pay aami insurance?

    • maybe give it a go by phone? i reckon you'll do split payment?

      • +1

I tried that. Called up. They can’t do split payments even over the phone. Can go monthly or some other schedule so that the card covers it but I usually pay annual.

        • +2

I did split payments calling up thru AAMI last friday but still have not got an invoice as they need to 'push' the amount thru. Will call and chase them up again tomorrow for an invoice

          • @akma1: That’s annoying! The lady I got said they can’t do split payments when I tried

  • trying to get my card details but when i click view gift card the website is just showing blank. have tried a couple of different browwers aswell.

      • I had the same experience, but when I then tried via Safari on my iPhone, it worked immediately.

    • +2

They ran after they just sold billion dollar of cards

      • They must have a lot of people not using up their cards for them to make a profit on this after subtracting the 10% discount that the issuer, Heritage Bank, is giving away. I imagine that the up-front fee is kept by Coles.

    • Same.

    • I didn't see this coming.

    • It has started working now.

    • Yes, but it is working now

  • -1

it looks expired now to me, anyone see otherwise?

    • +3

      22 Aug 5:58pm

  • My council only allows one payment per business day, annoying.

  • Question, if I made a purchase with this card, and the retailer refunded me due to a return. It will go back to that card yes? If so, how long will it take?

    • +1

      Yes.

It will take as long as it would take with any credit card, usually a few business days.

      • Ok cool beans. Thanks for confirming!

    • Yes, it does go back onto the card, and in my case, I had already thrown away the card because it was "empty". Money gone.

      • You didn’t keep the original email that was sent with a link to the specific card details?

  • +1

ShopBack blocked these cards as payment it seems.

    • +3

Worked for me during the promo.

If add(/remove) too many cards in a certain timeframe, there is a 7 day cooldown period however.

    • Worked for me. I only added 3 cards over 4 days period.

    • no, they accepted mine

  • yikes! Sydney water doesnt need the CVC.

  • where do people use their cards when under $1?….

    • +1

      amazon gc from amazon

      • +1

The minimum seems to be $1 on Amazon.

    • +1

In Colesworth for shopping using split payment, can use even 1c.

      • Not with a digital card

        • You could if you get a staff member to input the details manually. I have done this before when the GC does not scan.

    • +1

I had a couple with less than $1. I used it at Synergy

  • I bought 6 X $250 gift cards from this deal. While I have used 2 of them, the link for other 4 does seem to be working. I keep getting the error: A system error has occurred. Please Try again later.

I have spoken to Giftcards.com.au who keep saying it is Mastercard issue and they are waiting for a response. I am getting nervous as no one seems to be taking responsibility.

Also, I noticed that all the card links that are not working have location US instead of AU in the web address. I have tried multiple browsers, VPN, mobile interest but to no avail.

Is someone else in the same situation?

    • My 3 cards are also generating the same error. I hope it's a temporary issue

      • I have just been notified that the issue has been fixed and I seem to be able to access my cards again. Hopefully it works for you too.
