10% cashback with cash rewards currently

    • Because these coupons are pre-filled the cashback should work.. mine did from the $850 lenovo deal from before

    • Can you please share where on cash rewards it's currently 10% cashback? I can only see 3.5% cheers

      • +1

        Same, can only see 3.5%

        • If you're seeing 3.5 now then the 10 per cent upsized CB must have ended, and now back to standard.

Is this "better" than https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/790354 ?

    .

Personally, at this resolution I wouldn't want to go bigger than a 14" screen, so I'd pick the ThinkPad. ThinkPad also has upgradeable RAM

      • +1

According to the specs the ThinkPad is also lighter and slimmer than the Slim.

    • I ordered that deal and the laptop is sitting right next to me… i removed the 8Gb Samsung ram and added a 16gb corsair stick so i now have 24Gbs installed

      • +1

How quickly was that one delivered from time of order? Are you happy with it?

        • +2

I ordered it on - 02/08/2023 and it arrived from China on to my front door on 14/08/2023. ( so just under 2 weeks ). its a work laptop for a new engineer in the office I'm setting up.. needed something with at least 24Gb's of ram to run Revit . AMD Zen3 6 core 12 thread is enough CPU power.

So far so good.. its fine i guess. A little annoying to open up to add the ram but after watching some youtube videos it was all good

          • @vid_ghost: Thanks for responding. Might have to skip it as need something faster than that. Glad I checked with you!

      • +1

Does that reduce performance losing Double Data Rate (DDR)?

        • 8 + 16 still runs in dual channel.. they fixed that on motherboards a long time ago

          • @vid_ghost: Oh I see, I checked and 16GB runs faster in the Dual Channel while the remaining 8GB runs slower in single channel mode.

Need a laptop with zen 4 cpu

      Awaiting the 680m igpu

  • Recently bought this
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/791549

But now kinda regreting it. This $800 one is so much cheaper

    • +5

Nah, you did good. That laptop is a beast.

    • +3

You'd mostly have bought the one you did because you needed the 32gb of ram, which is great value for $1300!

    • I ordered one too. No regrets, tracking says it will arrive tomorrow

  • Decent

How many hours battery life without gaming?

  • 16 " exactly the small pocket size laptop that I can carry around without anyone noticing as it is really small and compact.

  • good for gaming csgo?

    • Yep. "Any video card 256mb or higher" and will run on core 2 duo. It's a really old game so will be fine on integrated gfx offered here.

    • I would wait for a cheap gaming laptop deal instead, CS2 looks to be much heavier on the GPU (though still pretty light) and you’d probably want a dedicated GPU.

  • Got this for our sales reps. Needed the 2 out display ports, so a good deal.

  • +2

300 nits display but only 45% NTSC

If there is an option to upgrade the display, it will be GOOD.

  • +1

This 45% NTSC is what is killing so many of these otherwise fine laptop deals. I know they need to cut corners to get this price point but a slower CPU + better screen would be much better value. I guess the base manufacturing cost for the better screens is what is messing up selling these laptops.

16 inch are fairly big laptop screens so this makes a pretty good 'school', 'parents' and wfh laptop (normal corporate apps, not engineering or graphics industries).

  • +1

Dumb question - I looks like it has a round power plug, and a USB-C port, do you think the laptop can be powered from the USB-c? Thanks

  • Bought the $1300 ideapad pro 5 16" 7735u deal last wed, and my estimated shipping date is 8/9/23.

    Cancelled my order. Screw that.
