Totally agree, it is Telstra after all though so the lack of communication probably shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who has had the misfortune to deal with them before. My hate for Telstra is strong but $499 for a Pixel 7 (when the only alternative at the time was a JB deal of $799 which left me with a $200 gift card I didn't want) was an absolute cracker of a deal and will hopefully be enough compensation for the pain of dealing with the big T.

I dont understand how a big company like Telstra could take so long to get stock?
I checked google after i ordered to see how long they'd take to ship one and it was within a week.
Years ago I remember getting the deals for phones shipped from hong kong and even back then the order shipped way faster.
The delay might not necessary be on Telstra's side but also from google as a supplier.
All the Pixel 7's are OOS on the Google store. Have to join a waiting list.
Are you sure? I just went to Google store and able to add any of the variants to the basket. It says delivery 28-29 Aug to my suburb in NSW

@Rodo: Google probably has different stocks to fulfill Telstra's orders or else I don't see why it takes so long since Google store stocks are always available since 4 August.
You're right! Last night and this morning when I checked, all variants were OOS.
Cancelled the order I had for my sister as unknown ETA even after weeks of waiting.
We know pixel 7 stocks are plentiful in the world and we know anything can be shipped anywhere in the world in a few days so someone is not being honest at Telstra and/or google.
The waiting situation sucks but who else is shipping them for $499?
What's the plan going forward, purchase a different phone, wait until it goes on sale again or just pay the going rate?
She will probably grab an iPhone SE or something at this point as she is coming from a 5 year old Chinese android and only went with pixel 7 because I nudged her that way.
Shame Telstra couldn't be a bit more upfront on the stock wait time, if Telstra could give an ETA maybe your sister wouldn't have to go to the dark side. lol
I haven't been following Apples prices but I'm guessing the SE is a bigger hit to the back pocket as well?

Pixel 7 is available but not with the 1/2 price , its only available for $998. Eg . OW or Jb at $699 and OW price beat to $664.05, $164.05 more.. huhhhh

This is not the news I wanted.
I just did mine thru Chat , refund receipt send to SMS straight away and bought from google store using the student beans discount for 599, arriving 31st to 1september , finger crossed. The OW price beat of JB hifi would be the last resort but student beans price is irresistible after telstra long wait

Will they also issue a new invoice with the revised date when it ships? I will be asking for that when I contact them again tomorrow, 3 weeks after the order placement.
Receiving the device almost 2 months after the purchase is a long delay and they should change the date on the invoice for warranty!
8 weeks from now…….May be, some ozbargainers can claim TRS with a new invoice by then.
Update: Telstra chat confirmed that they won't issue a new invoice but the warranty will start from the disptach or when it is delivered! So, might not work with TRS claims unfortunately.
After cancelling my telstra order , at last good news that google has dispatched my order after only few hours. So, maybe google is upset telstra selling too cheap and holding the stock away from telstra until pixel 8 released .

Both are of good quality, made in China. Hopefully it will fit well on the phone. Which headphone jack did you get pls. I got the pixel buds too and yes, not worth talking about! My wired soundmagic($99) sounds heaps better!

Just finished chatting with Telstra rep. and i am still waiting for mine.
September 19 next month they are expecting to have stock of 256G.
Wow, more than 6 weeks to get stock of a standard model, they are not fast)
I would not be surprised if the Pixel 8 comes out before these are available.
I just don't understand how this can take 6 weeks - maybe travelling by sea with quarantine. I've received custom made laptops from Apple and Lenovo within 10 working days. Here - standard models.
@foxdenis: They took the orders without the stock. Unsure how they get their stock but not having any to begin with is leaving them to rely totally on another company (Google I assume) Rep. told me they can't update their stock online for 48 hours so there is a delay and hence why the back orders - but I ordered at 5am on the first day. Something fishy here :D
