    I SECOND that… :P

    • brilliant

  • +4

Is the RRP quoted the price of a 'new' computer or a 'refurbished' one ????

    • Hi there,

RRP is based on a new computer.

      • +19

Why are you comparing them to the price of a new one ???
A refurbished one's market price is much lower than the new price…

Do you normally sell the refurbished ones for these RRP prices ?

It is very misleading and deceptive to quote RRP when you don't normally sell them at that price, and the ACCC agrees with that….

      • +5

Doesn't seem like a bargain to me. JB Hifi and Harvey Norman regularly have 20% (or more) of NEW ultrabooks.
Or are we talking about 20% off an already discounted price?

      • Hi does this refurfished as new , How long the warrnty for globally , and how long will take to deliver it

        • Hi,

Refurbished models don't have a global warranty. They are only covered by local (Australia wide) warranty which is handled by Asus directly. They are refurbished to fully working order but there are no guarantees against minor scuffs. Scratched screens and damage that effects the full working order of the laptop are not included in refurbished notebooks. Delivery is typically overnight for orders fully processed before 2:00pm aest Monday to Thursday but this can vary depending on your delivery address.

        • Hi I just made an order but later only realised to use the promo code for 20 % discount can you please amend it for the order 1806
          thanks

  • +3

Why can't you see the final price before having to enter in your details?

  • +5

    "Intel Core i3, 4GB, 320GB, 15.6"… ONLY: $399.00"

I could buy a brand new laptop with those specs for $399, possibly less.

    • Thank you for bringing that to my attention - i have adjusted.

  • Its 20% off the refurbished price which is already way below RRP (because it's refurbished). This is not meant to be deceptive its just a way for people to gauge the discount from new to refurbished. Also note that the price indicated on the website doesn't have the 20% discount applied - this is only applied at the checkout stage.

    • +5

which is already way below RRP

as it should be, after all, they've been used

This is not meant to be deceptive

Read the ACCC section on "Comparisons with the recommended retail price (RRP)"

      http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815334

      • Hi, i have removed RRP pricing.

        • +2

          i still see them…

        • +2

My team is moving through them as quickly as possible - Refurb Zenbooks RRP has been removed.

    • "…refurbished price which is already way below RRP"

Oh come on! even price for brand new units are way below RRP (unless this is apple stuff of cos :P)

  • What is the condition of asus refurbished?

Is it everything renewed like apples or can i expect scratches etc?

    • +3

website says it's "re-packaged into brand new packaging"

which i think means you get it in a new cardboard box ???

    • Hi, these are factory refurbished meaning they have been sent back to Asus for some reason. A lot of the time they are DOA returns - meaning they didn't work out of the box so have very little, if any sign of use. Having said that there are no guarantees that there wont be any scuffs or minor scratches. These still come with a 12month warranty that is supported through Asus directly.

      • +3

what if the screen is scratched ???

that would really piss me off…

        • Asus do not ship scratched screen laptops as refurbished stock.

        • it is probably worth mentioning that while we do not guarantee that there is no scratches on the refurbs that 90% of them are in practically brand new condition. I can speak from experience as we have opened up several refurbs prior to sale and have received dozens of positive feedback with regards to the conditions of the refurbs.

ASUS UX31E-RY009V - Intel Core i5, 4GB, 128GB SSD, 13.3" HD LED, Win 7 Home Premium (Refurbished) for $649.15, doeesn't seem like a bad deal, although I don't know if I would call it the bargain of hte century.

  • -1

    Hi,

Does it comes with a 64 Bit version of Windows 7?

    • Yes it does

  • +2

"mod - clarified in title that these are refurbished zen books going for 20% off RRP and that they are not going for 20% off a regular price for refurbished units"

I thought it was 20% off the refurbished price?
    So for this model is it $799 - 20% = $639.20 + $9.95 delivery?
    http://www.asusnotebooks.com.au/notebook/asus-ux31e-ry009v-i…

    • Comes up as $649.15 delivered for that one when you use the "zenbook" promo code.

That's a pretty nice price for the Asus compared to the Acer and others. Better screen, plus the USB LAN, and HDMI adaptors that Asus includes (and no one else seems to). Tempted to grab one….

    • +2

This deal is for 20% off the listed refurbished price not 20% off RRP. The price listed is discounted from a new price because it is refurbished - So this discount code offers you a further 20% off the shown price.

    • Sorry about that.

The OP was replying to a different question and I thought the OP said it was 20% off RRP. That was my mistake.

      My apologies

  • -1

we have to calculate the discount ourselves? im not prepared to do maths just to find out a price then figure out if i want to buy it or not which probably dont because the zenbook have had a high return rate

    • +8

Is it really that hard to calculate 20% off a price?

      • -2

do you have the algorithm ?

        • +9

          Price * 0.8

  • Are these the 1080p versions, or the run out before they are released?

    • +1

Original 1600x900 versions. The 1080p ones are signficantly more expensive (I saw one bloke imported one for $1800… too much for an ultrabook IMHO).

    • 1080p version can be had for under $1000 + ~$80 delivery from B&H video

      • Not anymore since the exchange rate dropped below 1.03 :|

  • Okay so resetting a bit here.. a refurbished ASUS UX31E-RY009V for $650 delivered seems like a good price? Or not..?

  • hello, will I still be able to claim GST back if I bring it out within 30days? and is the Asus 1 year warranty Global?

    • We send all orders out with a TAX invoice and the items do have(refurbished) at the end of the product description (on refurbished items). My knowledge of claiming GST with regards to refurbished items is a little light on so i don't have answer for you. In relation to the warranty all refurbished items carry a local warranty only - meaning only covered in within Australia.

  • i7 2670QM, 8GB, 750GB HDD

$495 after 20% is Good Price for me…. Definitely +++++++++++++++++

    • +2

      I don't think that gets 20% off since it's not a ZenBook?

  • I have to reiterate. The 20% discount is for our Refurbished Zenbooks only! All other transactions using this code will be cancelled and if any money has been deposited it will be refunded.

    • Huh? So This one is not included?

      ASUS K53SV-SX486V - i7 2670QM, 8GB, 750GB HDD, 15.6" HD LED, Win 7 Home Premium (Refurbished)

I was about to click buy button, it said the "zenbook" code was accepted????????

You made me SECOND guess this deal :P

  • +1

first, there is only one model with "zenbook" on the title.
    ASUS UX21E-KX004V Zenbook - Intel Core i5, 11.6", 4GB, 128GB SSD, Win7 Home Premium (Refurbished)

SECOND, I think you should just put this one model in a deal instead of listing everything that is not.

    • +1

Hi cloud68 - It is stated in the deal heading that this is for Refurbished Zenbooks only.

      • -2

I am aware. So Why Are you allowing the code to be accepted for all refurbished item?????????????????????????????????????? This alone is misleading and confusing……

SECOND, only one laptop which is a zenbook model, why don't you put that particular one as the main deal instead of directing everyone to browse others that is not part of the main deal that makes it interesting in the first place????????????

        • -1

Before anyone else think I am crazy talking:

They are updating the site as I type. There are 6 models titled zenbook and you cannot enter the code for non zenbook model.

          Damage Control. Lame Deal.

        • +1

Unfortunately our eCommerce engine doesn't allow us specify discount codes to a certain product or products. Regarding the zenbook title i have since added that into each of the refurbished zenbook titles. Regarding why i didn't post a the link to the zenbooks only is because there is no specific category for the refurbished zenbooks models meaning i cant single them out with a URL.

        • +2

Hang on - i quite clearly stated the models in the title - the discount code could be labelled anything! Zenbook is the discount code not the model number. No damage control - just keeping things clear as questions are raised.

        • so can I buy the ASUS UX31E-RY009V Zenbook - Core i5, 4GB, 128GB SSD, 13.3" HD LED, Win 7 Home Prem (Refurbished) with the code now.?

        • +4

To be fair, they did state the models in the description above from the very beginning.
          "Models available are UX21E i3,i5 and i7 and UX31E i5 and i7."

And to be fair on the other side of the fence, the website wasn't set up well enough to point you in the direction of the Zenbooks, or to limit the use of the code only to those models.
Some people may have thought that a Zenbook is a name given to all Asus notebooks..

It looks like Asus Notebooks have given a couple of good bargains in the past, I'm sure it wasn't intentional to mislead us on the items that could be bought with the code.
Let's not scare them away and not have discount codes provided in the future at all.

        • Yes and if there is any issues with the stated discount code then try "zenbook2"

  • -1

i think this 'bargain' deserves a…. NEGaton bomb.

    • Is this not a bargain? Can you find it even remotely close to the prices that we have offered?

If this is a bargain then TROLL somewhere else please.

      • +3

I dont see it to be trolling pointing out these are still high prices for effectively a 2nd hand laptop. good luck with your sales and website.

        • +2

Thanks, and while the laptop is definately 2nd hand, I should point out that they are in practically new condition due to the circumstances of their returns and at approximately half the price of the cheapest new ones. I think that constitutes a bargain.

Also, could some of the several customers who have purchased these in the last few hours please report on the condition once receiving them over the next few days?

          Cheers

          ASUSNotebooks

        • +1

i will disagree but I like that you are at least offering an explanation. kudos to you.

also removing my neg, not for any other reason that people can google the reviews and prices and make up their own mind.

  • isn't the ASUS UX31E-RY009V Zenbook - a "zenbook" ?? I am trying to buy this and being told that the promotion code Zenbook has expired or invalid !? … boooo

    • No Caps on the Z - its zenbook not Zenbook.

      • zenbook

        cannot be used

        • Ditto, not working.

      • Yep no workie even with lower case http://upload.ozbargain.com/2012/09/04/9323_zen.jpg

      • ummm dunno know why, but i am still getting the error code with the Zenbook or zenbook anyone else having this problem… or just my browser… (i am using chrome)

        • Hi everyone, try "zenbook2" (without quotation marks obviously). I am not sure what is going on with the promotion codes, except to say that I apologise if there is an issue. I just tested with zenbook2 and it appears to work fine.

  • I think getting a SECOND capable IT person would be a great DEAL on your end….

    • We are currently re-writing the engine - this will be a feature in the future.

    • -1

Alright, we get it, you think capitalising words that are particularly relevant to this thread is funny. No need to go on about it.

      • cloud68 I appreciate your feedback on this, and I should point out we have 4 full time software developers and over 10 full time it support techs but we have so many websites and client projects to work on that there are several features far down the list for development in the future. Any feedback will be taken seriously though, but I can assure you we know about most of it and it frustrates us as much as it does you.

      • I would have stopped after my SECOND post right on the top if the deal was good and i can order effortlessly.

Too much to ask for a RefUrBISHed item

  • Hi everyone, try "zenbook2" (without quotation marks obviously). I am not sure what is going on with the promotion codes, except to say that I apologise if there is an issue. I just tested with zenbook2 and it appears to work fine.

      • Are you aware of anything regarding an Australian release of a 32GB TF700 sans a dock? Giant PITA, the situation here in Aus.

  • +2

Also for all people frustrated that the code does not work on non-zenbook series refurbished notebooks/netbooks/tablets, I have created a promotion code that you can use on all refurbished notebooks for 5% off. This promo code is "ozbrefurb".

Sorry about the confusion regarding whether or not a notebook is a zenbook, I thought it was pretty clear in the title. As it says, "This code is only valid for Refurbished Zenbooks, all other transactions using this code will be deleted."

  • +5

wow… can not pay via credit card !

you guys are making is harder and harder to buy this thing….

    • can we use paypal?

      • Yes, paypal is accepted (and preferred)

    • We turned off credit cards after the high (2-3 per day) credit card fraud attempts for our laptops. If you can provide a scan of your credit card and ID then we can do a credit card payment over the phone/email.

You might want to edit your original post, and answer some other queries, to avoid further confusion. Right now, this is a bit of a cluster#*%&

    • I've got to head off for a while.. one of my colleagues will come on a bit later to assist with other questions.

      Thanks for the feedback

  • Great deal! Can't wait to get my hands on a ASUS UX31E-RY018V Zenbook!

  • +6

woohoo… finally able to get the ASUS UX31E-RY009V Zenbook - Core i5, 4GB, 128GB SSD, 13.3" HD LED, Win 7 Home Prem (Refurbished) for $649.15. have to shuffle up some cash to paypal though.

Thanks asusnotebook for fixing up the mess and new code. Don't be put-off by the short temper, and keep on posting these deals. I am very new here and totally appreciated the good bargains…

also thanks for not having massive delivery charge… under $10 for delivery of a laptop is a bonus.

  • Ok bit the bullet and bought the UX31-RY009V for $649.15 delivered too.
    Seems like a good deal!

  • Any extra discount if I pay via bank deposit instead of PayPal? :) For a ASUS UX31E-RY018V Zenbook

    • Hey there, sorry for the delay. Unfortunately we cant offer any further discounts at the moment.

      • Can't hurt to ask! Order made.

  • can you upgrade the memory for the zenbook?

    • I highly doubt it. The RAM is most likely soldered on to the motherboard to save on space, and I doubt there would be any spare slots.

    • Unfortunately not - the RAM is soldered to the motherboard.

    Hi rep,

Can you advise how you clean the bodily fluids from these units from the previous owners?

    • +1

Bring it to an Apple store for a Mac Genius to do it.

      • workaholics fans in full effect tonight :)

  • +1

    Hi there,

the cleaning process occurs at Asus. We get security sealed boxes… fortunately i haven't had any reports of bodily fluid on any of the 1200 odd refurbished notebooks we have sold so far.

  • -2

Not a good deal, 20% off for no idea what you will be getting. Misleading wording.

    • How do you justify that comment? There are detailed descriptions of the product and its specification along with a 12 month warranty with the manufacturer. The condition of the notebook itself is guaranteed to a level that it will not be damaged or in any way not in full working order.

      • -6

It's second hand, scuffed & scratched goods that have been put into a new box and taped up. What is the bargain about that? You want to buy my '98 VT Commodore for $10,000? Commodores go for $40k new, so it's 75% RRP. Bargain right?

        • +1

Have you bought from us before? anyway you are entitled to your own opinion and draw your own analogies. And no i don't want to buy your Commodore but thanks for the bargain offer.
