IMPORTANT UPDATE 26 JULY 2023: RE Method 2

OlduBil: "Transfers from foreign bank accounts to our bank accounts in Turkey are not possible".

  • OlduBil is no longer accepting deposits/transfers from foreign bank accounts. Please DO NOT make any transfers into OlduBil (i.e. your Türkiye Mastercard) until further notice!

  • If you already have the funds in OlduBil from a previous transfer, you are free to continue with Method 2. For those wanting to top up your Türkiye Mastercard, please DO NOT initiate any transfers into OlduBil from Wise or Revolut until I have a new update

  • For those who do not have funds in OlduBil and wish to utilise Method 2, I'm afraid this is no longer possible at this point in time. Every transfer done is at your own risk!

Background:

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Xbox Game Passes, Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up. The processes below are very easy, just take it slow and you'll get there! Just remember you'll be saving hundreds at the end of the day.

Due to a price increase by Spotify worldwide, my previous guide has expired. But no worries, this guide is now better than ever, and combines the two methods together (Google Pay for those who want to use Australian Cards, or Virtual Türkiye Mastercard for those who can't do the Google Pay method) as well as providing more information on extra plans and family systems. There will be some screenshots throughout the sign-up process for OlduBil(see screenshots in the instructions section) from previous testing - and yes, I can confirm the validity of these methods because I don't spend money for nothing. Most important thing - Türkiye is still very cheap!

Thank you so much for all your support and previous comments (I love reading them)! Any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

Instructions – Method #1 via Google Pay (Android Required) – If you want to use your Australian debit/credit card

Note: If you currently subscribe to Google One or any other Google services via Türkiye, then you may already have a Türkiye payment profile in your Google account. If this is the case, you may not need to do Part 1 at all (go straight to Part 2).

If you have an existing Google account and don't want to create a new Google account, simply add a new Türkiye payment profile into your Google account (not ideal for Google accounts where the sole user is an Android user or the family system consists of Android users - see why in the notes section of this post. You can create a new payment profile by following these steps: go to https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/settings and clicking the pen icon next to "Country/Region" and a link to create a new profile should pop up. You can then add details for the Turkish profile (If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address).

If you don't have an Android device, and would still like to use your Australian debit/credit card via Google Pay, consider this BlueStacks method by @langh using a PC.

Part 1 – Creating a new Google account

  1. Create a new Google account on your phone.

  2. Delete your Google Play Store cache (this may not be required). If you don't know how to, please see Google's instructions.

  3. Select your new Google account in the Google Play Store app to switch over from your personal account or add it in if it's not there (to do this, click on your top right icon, then click the dropdown next to your account email, then click "Add another account"). Make sure the selected account is your new Google account.

  4. Add a new payment method and select "Turkey" as the country (to do this, click on your top right icon again, then click "Payments and Subscriptions", then click "Payment methods"). If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address for the payment profile. You can use your Australian debit or credit card (or any card as you wish) and best to use a card with no international transaction fees (Suncorp and Latitude Platinum have no international fees).

Part 2 – Subscribing to Spotify Premium

  1. Boot up the Spotify app and click "sign up" or "log in" with VPN off. If you don't have the Spotify app, download it from the Google Play Store. See link here.

Can I sign up with my Australian Spotify account? - Yes! Simply log in (make sure your current subscription, if any, is cancelled).

  2. Turn on VPN and connect to a server in Türkiye (see Notes section for suggestions) and leave it on for the remainder of the steps below.

  3. Boot up the Spotify app again. Click on the premium tab on the bottom right of the home screen. Select the plan you want. Scroll down to the bottom and make sure the country is set to Türkiye. If it's Australia or another country, click the dropdown and change it to Türkiye.

Alternatively, go to your Spotify account settings on a web browser and check what country is selected. If it's Türkiye, you're good to go. If it's Australia or another country, click the dropdown and change it to Türkiye. However, you still have to double check on the app again on step 3.

Country dropdown box greyed out? - I bet you have a current Premium subscription running? If so, this will have to finish. You can't make changes to your location while Premium is running.

  4. Click on "Google Pay". Complete the Google Pay confirmation prompt to subscribe. Your debit/credit card should already be preloaded (add one if not). If requested for an address, please use your Australian address (new Spotify accounts - family plan sign-ups).

If you get an error, trying clicking the "change plan" option and re-select your plan. Muck around with it a little… Turn VPN on or off etc.

  5. Fly back home and turn off your VPN. YOU'RE DONE! WOOO! Enjoy your savings :)

Part 3 - Family Members (Family plan only)

  1. On the main account (plan manager), go to: https://www.spotify.com/tr-tr/account/family/ to obtain an invite link. Ensure the address listed is your Australian address (DO NOT use a Türkiye address)

  2. Get a family member, friend, bf, gf, or whatever person to accept that link. When requested, enter in the same address as listed in Step 1.

Error? "You need to live at the same address? It looks like you’re trying to join Premium Family from a different country. Premium Family is only available for family members that live together. Try again when you’re at the same address."

Simple solution - go to the relevant Spotify account on a web browser and check what country is selected. If it's Türkiye, you're good to go. If it's Australia or another country, connect to a VPN server in Türkiye, then refresh the page, click the dropdown and change it to Türkiye. Accept the invite again and it should work. You can turn off VPN after this.

Instructions – Method #2 (If you want to use your Virtual Türkiye Mastercard)

Türkiye-based Virtual Mastercard REQUIRED

Please read the following instructions carefully. If you already have a Türkiye-based Virtual Mastercard via OlduBil, proceed with the following instructions. If you do not have a Türkiye-based Virtual Mastercard, STOP HERE and see how to get one here in the instructions section (Part 1 and Part 2): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/784047. I'm in the process of making a wiki page on the Türkiye-based Virtual Mastercard via OlduBil, so stay tuned!

Notes: The Spotify sign up pages may be in Turkish (which is easily navigatable if you have some common sense). Feel free to translate the page to English otherwise.

Part 1 – Subscribing to Spotify Premium

  1. Log in to Spotify (VPN off), or make a new account (VPN off).

  2. Turn on VPN and connect to a server in Türkiye (see Notes section for suggestions) and leave it on for the remainder of the steps below.

  3. Go to the Spotify Premium plans page.

  4. Scroll down and select the plan you want. Proceed to pay with your Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard. If requested for an address, please use your Australian address (new Spotify accounts - family plan sign-ups).

  5. Fly back home and turn off your VPN. YOU'RE DONE! WOOO! Enjoy your savings :)

HELP POINT: Because the popup payment windown cannot be translated to English, here are screenshots of the process in the following order: (1), (2), (3)

Part 2 – Family Members (Family plan only)

ISP Notes (Important)

  • If you currently have a Spotify Premium subscription, simply cancel the subscription and you'll be able to resubscribe via Türkiye. If the current subscription is a family plan, simply cancel the subscription and once you resubscribe via Türkiye (do not let the subscription expire), the entire family system will remain intact and no futher changes will be necessary.

  • Most VPN services will connect to Türkiye, unlike India. Those include NordVPN, Private Internet Access (PIA), free Windscribe Chrome extension (recommended), free UrbanVPN Chrome extension (recommended), ExpressVPN, etc. If one doesn't work, use another VPN.

    • If you're using Windscribe and it shows different currencies: keep turning the windscribe on and off. Each time you don't get TL, turn it off and on, then refresh the Spotify sign up page. You'll eventually land on TL. Go to https://whatismyipaddress.com/ each time you turn it off/on and see if you land on Istanbul.

FAQ

Q: Will I need to turn VPN on everytime I listen to Spotify?
A: No! You no longer need to have VPN on every time you use Spotify Premium. VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Spotify without a VPN.

Q: I got charged a different rate compared to the prices on this post. What happened?
A: Due to foreign exchange rates constantly fluctuating, prices will differ by several cents each month

Q: I have an existing Spotify account, can I use the same email?
A: Definitely!

Q: Is signing up to Spotify Turkey going to affect my Spotify library/catalogue?
A: After setting up this sub, you may or may not notice the Spotify catalogue/recommendations may be weird with brand new regional music, etc… but your Spotify catalogue will adjust to what you’re listening to and soon it will look like nothing ever happened

Q: GST/VAT and Tax related questions?
A: Don't worry, there really isn't any tax you need to worry about.

    • i have tried this a few times over the last couple of months. but today it worked.

Not sure exactly which step worked, but I used PureVPN, did not work, treied free Windscribe, it did not work. Both continued to display not available in you country message. Then used the Urban VPN and it worked. I have cleared cahceds etc but only at the point of using Urban VPN did it work

      • Interesting. I ended up getting mine working via the bluestacks method.

      • Hey after you set up teh google play account, when subscribing to spotify, is this step done on your phone?

Or can this be done on the computer? Not sure how I can get a VPN working on my phone.

        • all done on the phone, i just installed the vpn onto the phone

  • Have a problem saying if I change google account country I can’t change it back for 12 months.

    • thats why a new account is recommended

  • +2

I started this process back in July but always got stuck with the 'Google Play purchases not supported in your country'. Tried again tonight inspired by the price increase. 2 hours later I have been able to get it to work.

I had a google play account that was set up for the Disney Turkish deal. So reused that one.

I had an old phone that I created a new profile on and logged in with the google acct. Over the many attempts the other profile on the phone had a google account that i deleted, the other profile had no google account in the end. So only one google account logged in, the Turkish one.

During various journeys I got a variety of messages where the premium screen would not load. I removed the expired sim card as per a google search and it appeared to fix it up shrug

From earlier in this thread I had performed these steps:
-Deleted all app data for Webview, Chrome, Play Store, Play Services, Spotify multiple times
-Removed ALL Google accounts other than the account with the Turkish profile

I tried at this point to use my existing VPN - PureVPN and then tried the free Windscribe- then relented and downloaded Urban VPN

-Use urbanVPN app to get onto Turkish VPN -
-Loaded up Spotify, logged in (WITH VPN ON)
-Go to Premium bottom right corner, I selected the Family plan and was able to follow through with the Google Play option for the first time.

    Good luck

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it didn't work for me! I don't get the "not available in your country error", rather "something went wrong…" when Google Pay tries to process the payment. Oh well.

  • I got an email this morning from Spotify welcoming me to Spotify Duo (in Turkish) and providing me details on how to invite the second subscriber. I had previously been subscribed to the family plan as per this guide, so perhaps they bumped me down due to the price increase. Fortunately my card was debited still and I'm still on premium!

  • +1

Congrats to everyone that got on this gravy train, but (at least for me) option 1 doesn't work anymore.

I've spent at least 4 hours trying different VPNs, credit cards, Google Accounts, wiping phones, using Android Studio emulators, etc. I always get a "Something went wrong" error message when I try to purchase the Turkish subscription. I contacted Google Support and they basically gave me some generic message saying your payment method is blocked, and we won't tell you exactly why, but it might be because of VPN usage, emulators, etc. They seem to be clued on to how some of us try to get this working and are actively trying to stop it.

Praying you can find another workaround I Smell Pennies!

  • I am paying some ridiculous amount per month for the family account. Frustrating. Not sure I am competent enough though to deal with this. :(

  • +3

I've had no luck with this unfortunately. I've method 1 a few ways (Using bluestack & using an android phone) but I keep getting an error saying that something went wrong I try to purchase it. I've spent hours trying to get it to work. If anyone has had luck recently, would love to hear how you did it. I have seen other comments about trying the Philippines

    Thanks

  • I also keep getting the "Something went wrong" error when making the payment. I tried several phones, making new accounts etc. I contacted google support and they said my account had "inconsistencies" and they wouldn't fix it.

In the end I used the Binance P2P method to send TRY to my Oldubil card.
To get USDT on Binance I used Coinbase to buy USDC using AUD transferred instantly using PayId, then sent the USDC to Binance (they have no fee when using a network other than Ethereum) then converted the USDC to USDT on Binance (there is a fee of less than 0.5%).

  • How do you prepay for a year? Thank you.

  • struggling to get this happening, running into the "something went wrong" part when paying

have tried 4 different cards and it still happens

  • +1

Deal is dead, just says this subscription is not available in your google play country.

    If anyone can help, appreciated.

    • +2

I have the same issue. New Gmail account, even tried a new Spotify account. Using nord VPN and cleaned cache on just about everything on my phone.

New google account is set to turkey so it's got me stumped.

      • +2

Yeah, spotify have caught onto us now. i used brand new phone, brand new account and purevpn, urbanvpn and PIA. Deal status should be changed to expired

        • The deal is still active. People are still able to subscribe to Spotify via Turkey VPN, such as from this comment.

I'm not sure what exactly triggers all of these issues, but I know for a fact it does work.

          • @I Smell Pennies: This so so true. I have seen it happen with all sorts of service providers that there are some people that just don't get it to work, even with detailed instructions, through no fault of their own. If you're one of them, my advice is to get a mate to try using their PC/phone/VPN/ISP…, use a totally different system. Let them follow the instructions, don't tell them what to do. If they get it working, take the easy way out and buy a family spot off them.

            • @Iangh: i understand, i have been blacklisted by the turkish government .

          • @I Smell Pennies: Using a different android phone amd hotspotted to a different phone on a other carrier i was able to get to payment when i got this error " transaction can not be completed" use a different payment instrument.

Any ideas on what else i could try.

One was a wise digital card, another was a greater visa debit card.

        • +1

Using the blustacks method i can get further but i get "somethong went wrong" error

  • Didn't work for me. And then when I said bugger it I'll just keep paying, it freaked out because I live in Japan now but I have been paying for Australian Spotify this entire time. So I had to change my account location on a PC from Turkey to Japan, and pay directly with my credit card, Android wouldn't even let me use my legit Japanese Gmail account and payment methods anymore.

  • +2

I had a chat with Oldubil support, and they said that as long as the money is coming from an account with an Turkish IBAN number, which Wise does, the transfer should go through.

Thought I haven't tried this payments through Wise might work?

I noticed that Wise isn't able to process transaction to a good majority of the banks listed on Oldubil's deposit page. I was able to initiate a transfer to Denizbank, but cancelled it due to the estimated wait time for the funds to be released, at 18 hours. So, I ended up using the P2P Binance method listed before by @heyimsu on page 8 which got me the money in about an hour.

    • +2

can you try transfer from wise to olubil and let us know if it works?

      • +1

        I've sent it, $15NZD!

Money should be released at 6pm New Zealand Time according to Wise. I'll keep y'all updated.

        • +4

The money showed up, 6 hours after Wise cleared the payments. SO keep this in mind, I guess Denizbank is a bit slower than the previous bank.

Hope that help guys! Happy bargain!!!!

PS: The methold listed on page 8 (sorry forgot the name of the person, its previous comment) also works. Though that requires a verified Binance account.

          • @OmgItsHeaven: awesome, thats good news!

          • @OmgItsHeaven: When transferring from Wise, is the Business Name: Denizbank A.S.?

And what IBAN do you use?

Might send $1 first to test it out.

            Thanks!

            • @Stooge007: The name is TURK ELEKTRONİK PARA A.Ş

The IBAN is found on the app when you select Denizbank, but it's this TR32 0013 4000 0098 9370 0000 62 (Please double check with the app)

And in reference put your 16 digit card number.

Also you might want to do like 10$, because Wise takes about 1$ to transfer. And you lose about some percentage at Oldubil processing.

              • @OmgItsHeaven: I get "we cannot currently send payments to this recipient" message

Did you leave the email blank in wise?

I clicked send money and tried both pay someone else and business or charity neither worked

                • @denserham: That was what was happening to previous banks. Try checking some of the others banks in the app. If none of the banks work then we are out on luck on that.

  • Tried this over the last few days via Turkey, but similar to others got stuck on the "subscription not available in your country" after selecting Google Pay as my payment method. I tried it with a fresh Google account, on a freshly wiped Android device, used a few different VPNs - kept getting stuck at that same point and couldn't find a way around it.

Saw a few people were successful moving to the Philippines, so gave that a go. Did a full factory reset on the phone again, and setup another brand new Google account in the Philippines. I did the bare minimum setup on the device and downloaded Private Internet Access (already had an account) as soon as I could and switched on the VPN. Created a new payment method with my Philippines address, was able to use my own card (Bendigo Bank) with no errors/issues. Opened up Spotify and created an account using that new Google account.

Once I was logged in, I went to the Premium page, selected a family plan and it initially redirected me to a webpage with two payment options: pay by card and pay by carrier. I selected pay by carrier and it pushed me back to the in-app screen which had the Google Play payment option. I selected that and it redirected successfully and I was able to process the payment. Charge came through on my phone immediately, 214PHP = $AU 5.89. Would obviously be cheaper for the single or duo option - but I needed to share the sub with my normal Spotify account (I cbf losing all my playlists and recommendations) and my wifes.

Had a few issues accessing the "setup family plan" screen. It was coming up with an error "we're all mixed up" which suggested refreshing the page or trying again later. I'm not sure exactly how I solved this, I just tried with VPN off, then back on, logged in and out a few different times and eventually it came up with the screen I needed. Then was able to set my address (I used my Aussie address) and grab the invite link. Turned VPN back on, logged into my normal Spotify account (it is a bog standard Spotify account using my email) and updated the country to Philippines, was then able to put in my Aussie address and accept the invite!

Had similar issues with the "we're all mixed up" error when I attempted to use the invite link with my wife's account (her Spotify account is logged in by using her Facebook account). I tried a few combinations, but ended up working by restarting my computer and using a different browser (swapped from Firefox to Edge) - VPN was turned OFF for this.

I now have my family group all setup and working. I guess time will tell if the automatic monthly billing works! Good luck to everyone else giving this a go, hopefully this helps.

Now, onto the next project: trying to use this new Philippines Google account to replace my Google One storage subscription!

  • +2

Thanks OP! This worked for me after many days of trying and running into a lot of different errors like the "subscription not available in your country" and "transaction can not be completed" use a different payment instrument".

I was magically successful today using an andriod device, NordVPN and google play. Signed up to the family plan and successfully added family members after changing their Spotify location to Turkey via VPN.

Like everyone else that got this to work - I have no idea what changed but I tried for a few days until I got frustrated, I then reached out to google directly and mentioned I was having issues paying for Spotify for via Google Play. They said they would look into it and get back to me in 48 hours - they never got back to me…

I randomly gave it one last shot today (4 days after reaching out to google) and did all the same steps (cleared cache and data for google play, gmail, chrome), vpn'd to turkey, signed into spotify with the same google account as the turkey payment profile. Clicked the google play pay option, and my credit card was accepted straight away. No payment errors at all.

I then followed the OPs steps for adding family members. I was also getting a payment error for Youtube Premium and that went thru today also.

My guess is there is some flag on the google pay level and by going thru the help desk - they removed the flags that were causing all the errors people are getting.

Anyways, good luck to all!! Thanks OP and to all the other users who left comments!

How did you contact Google Pay support? I can only get "community" support as an option, not actual support!?!

      • TLDR: Turkey payment issues. Make a Google account for Philippines, use ExpressVPN and Google Pay method worked.

Same! Couldn’t locate the live chat option unless you had a Google one subscription which I don’t have any more.

Anyhow, I got it to work!! Although not for Turkey but for Philippines. I was setting up the subscription for my partner and their group of friends and for 2 hours, I couldn’t get it to work!

Had success last month when I set this up for my group of friends so I did exactly the same thing but nothing worked.

The first time I did it (used an old Samsung phone):
        1) Downloaded NordVPN, Spotify and created new Google account once VPN’d to Turkey.
        2) Cleared cache on Spotify, Google Play Store & services via the android settings app.
        3) Added UP card to Google account payments.
        4) Waited till subscription ended then hit the join premium tab on the home page. Then selected the family plan and payment via Google pay. Success.
        5) Adding the family was a challenge. Figured out they all had to change the country to Turkey in their account settings and it should work. However, did encounter some issues and I think restarting the phone helped. We did try using VPN but I think their account country was the issue.

So, for the second time doing this today (had to wait for partner’s premium to end) I repeated what I did initially and thought it’ll work.

Got up to the payment page and kept saying something was wrong… please contact support. Google’s live chat was almost non existent on their help page.

Ended up creating Philippines Google account and worked. Had to use ExpressVPN instead of Nord but used the same steps as mentioned above.

  • @ I Smell Pennies - thank you so much! After several failed attempt, I managed to get it work, Initially used Method 1 but got stucked at payment page. It's not accepting my 28 degree card eventhough i followed the instruction to the dot. I keep getting "Something wrong" message when I chose Google Play payment method.

I decided to use method 2. It's a bit fiddly because I use iPhone and the only android device is a Samsung tablet. Tried bluestack and Android Studio on Macbook, failed both times. Google Play is not showing on my chosen android device via Android Studio hence unable to download spotify or vpn.lat.
Ended up following one of the instructions I found (i think from xbox game pass ultimate) and use FUPS. Initial fee is rather costly as I had to purchase Turkish debit card from Plati.Market (Aud $6.93 - you get the card within a few second with $0 bal), activate it using PingMe ($9.99 in AppStore) and top up card using Revolut as I read it somewhere you can top up debit card directly from Revolut. Turns out you can't do it in Australia!

I was about to use Oldubil but i thought I'll give Revolut a go and do Int'l transfer from Revolut ($20), I chose DenizBank as AktifBank, VakifBank and some others are apparently not accepting international transfer? FUPS provided the banking details but not the BIC or address. But this is easily found via Google. Transfer processed & completed instantly but not showing on my FUPS debit card. So I contacted FUPS and gave them the transfer receipt. Within 6 hours, i got a reply and monies in my card. Went straight back to Spotify using vpn & make the damn payment via debit card. LOL. Got charged 54.99 TRY for a Duo account.

  • I set this up back when we were using Oldubil with Revolut - I need to top up that card before my next renewal. After reading this new thread on Oldubil no longer accepting foreign transfers, I take it I need to use Google Pay now going forward for my Turkish plan as I can't go Revolut -> Oldubil anymore?

After going through all comments trying to figure out how to get funds into my Oldibul account …. @OmgItsHeaven came up with the easiest transfer option from Wise via Denizbank.
Funds were transferred within 2 hours.

    • Thank you, this is what i needed to see. I am currently going through the process of that, in the email section in Wise, what did you put ?

      • Leave empty

    • Update:
I used Wise first time yesterday to top up Oldubil card via Denizbank. It worked and in card account within a few hours.
Found Wise much better than prior Revolut transactions.
      Follow the original instructions exactly.
      Good luck.

  • Im getting 'You already have a Spotify Plan' when i click on the Google Play Payment Method and tells me to go back. anyone else getting this?

  • Unrelated, but this method was working with my normal Google account with all in-app purchases being in TRY, but one day it just stopped.

I made a second Turkish Google account to do in-app purchases in TRY again, but no matter what I do it just defaults to my normal Google account (which I recently reset to have my Australian details).

How do I get all my apps to take payments from my new Turkish Google account?

  • Thank you I smell pennies for all that work.

I tried my very best following all advice on pages, yet Google pay would not let me purchase Turkish Sub. "Unable to use this service from your country.

Clean format on old android phone, Aus CC setup with Turkish postal Address AOK, surfshark vpn first app installed and used to load Spotify app, turkish set as country both Google Acc and Spotify, caches cleared. Still no dice.

Like acid in my mouth limping back to Aus Spotify Sub.

Anyone else have a win with this method recently?

    • I have had no luck with any of these methods or suggestions either. If anyone has a new way around all of this that would be great.

    • exact same process here and no dice

  • There are a host of other countries offering dirt cheap subs Indonesia, India, Bangladesh.

The bottle neck seems to be which countries Google allows you to make payments with G Pay.

Has anyone had success in any other cheap countries.

I see someone has been successful with Philippines in this thread?

    • Following. I dont care if its not the absolute cheapest. Happy to pay less than the AU plans if its easy enough.

    • Unsuccessful with Phillippines using the same setup. Said payment through Google Pay not allowed.

Method 1 didnt work for me either with Turkey. Got the "something went wrong, contact Google Help Centre" error when trying to pay 64.99 TLR with Google Pay (ING debit card with Turkey address)

  • Used Wise to transfer into OlduBil through Denzibank as per above comments.
Managed to get it to work the first time, but subsequent Wise is ‘no longer accepting payments to this payee’.
    Need to find another method!

    • You could try using other banks. Thats what I initially did to find Denizbank.

  • Nothing is working for me, I tried everything and even changed my google play country to Turkey (which can take up to 48hrs to come into effect). I'll try one more time in two days' time and if that doesn't work I will give up wasting my time and delete my .y account and move over to Google Music.

  • Hi Mate,

Is there any update on how to send money to OlduBil via the Revoult app? My existing money on OlduBill account is running out for Spotify Premium.

    • Oldubill completely shutting us down. No way

  • To those trying to get Spotify premium cheaper follow the google method here.

Google Play store purchases are not possible at the moment, even for citizens living in Turkey. It's related to the recent economic policy changes, not some big crackdown.
    (renew payment is unaffected?)

Altho, I also see someone saying Google has discovered people using vpn and Google Pay to get a cheaper deal doing some cracking down and starting suspend/ban ( I doubt it through),

My payment did not go through via Google Play Store mehtod. I raised a support ticket with Google and they removed the block. I have been using it without any issues.

      • Thanks, I made a google support ticket, keep getting error message of not being able to complete the transaction, will update how this goes.

        • @Godanipicprofile - did you have any success after you raised the google support ticket?

Just received this notification from Oldubil:

    https://www.oldubil.com.tr/sayfa/14-oldubil_announcement/

Does this mean we can't use existing Oldubil funds to pay Spotify Turkey?

Oldubil warned about changes to the rules for anonymous cards and recommended "using the balance before today evening"
It is still unclear what will happen to the purchase Spotify.

On October 2, 2023, the Turkish payment system Oldubil sent a warning to customers that anonymous cards can now only be used on Turkish websites with a trust seal. One of the first to notice this was user darios13 from the PlayStation community on DTF.

According to the regulation issued by the Central Bank of Turkey, anonymous cards can only be used on Turkish websites with a trust seal. We recommend that you use your balance before tonight. We will keep you informed.

Oldubil advised customers to use their balance “until tonight”, that is, until October 3, 2023. The company said it would share details in the future.

Some Russian residents use the Oldubil payment system to buy games in Turkey on the PS Store, Microsoft Store and Steam. How the policy change will affect them is unclear.

I still have around 300 Lira sitting just for Spotify renewals, I am not sure what would happen to it? Anyone can help?

      • Yeah I've got 900 in it
        Not sure what to do

    • Got the same message and came here looking for this, hoping for an answer. I've got about $53 sitting in there for Spotify.

    • The important part is the trust seal, if Spotify Turkey has this, then we're fine. But I have a feeling it doesn't. Some background here: https://www.nortonrosefulbright.com/en/inside-turkey/blog/20…

Which links to this site (the governing body?): https://www.guvendamgasi.org.tr/index.php

And here is their list of compliant sites: https://www.guvendamgasi.org.tr/view/guvendamgasi/gdalan.php

Less than 50 sites in that list and all look local, no big name global brands.

      • Good work. So take out the money?

  • payment failed. got an email from spotify to update my payment method…

    • Is this using your OlduBil card?

      • yes I'm

    • My payment with Oldubil just went through. I’ve also received this notification in the oldubil app

We continue to work on allowing anonymous accounts to proceed with transactions using passport information. Please keep your accounts active to stay informed about the developments.

Sending them my passport is a no-no for me so I’ll be looking to other ways at the end of this month

      • Mine isn't due until 24/10, so I guess I'll just wait it out and see if the anonymous account situation changes.

        • @yamumma How did you go with the payment?

          • @Fi5htanker: Payment seems to have gone through fine on the 24th.

            • @yamumma: @yamumma Super lucky! I’m jealous haha.

Oldubil not working with VPN on (also tried incognito tabs). And can’t sign up via Google Play as only works on individual plans, not family. Might have to go back to AUD

    • So what have you done?

  • I believe "Option 1: Creating a new Google account" is not working anymore. It seems that Google is cracking on these Turkish accounts

    • +1

Not sure why my comment got downvoted… If you browse the last 3 to 5 pages of comments you'll see that everyone is getting "Something went wrong" message when paying. If you manage to chat with Google support, they will reply 24h later with inconsistency in your account.

I spent 3-4 hours trying with 4 different Google accounts (1 old one and 3 new), 3 different cards, and expressVPN. I always get to the same payment step with this error.

It seems they flag accounts based on the credit card used, and the phone number used to create the account (ie. if you create another account and use the same card, it's not even trying to verify it).

I might try with a different country but as of now, I was unsuccessful with Google Pay payments.

      • I've had issues with Google Play payments with Turkey for maybe about a month.

I recently switched to Ukraine and whilst it is significantly more expensive than Turkey, it works and I'm still saving money instead of purchasing an Aussie sub.

I looked into using the Philippines too, but it wouldn't work for me either.

If theres another country that works, and is cheaper, it would be awesome if someone could chime in.

        • I followed this video which explain how to do it with play.google.com, which I think is a better option: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eW5xDBY7eN4

Before doing the steps from the video, I've logged out from my main account on my phone, you can do this using a browser, listing the device your account is using, find your phone, and log out.

From here you need the VPN 100% of the time, on your phone and on your laptop (if you use one).

Go to your Spotify account profile and select Philippines, save.

Then I created a new Google account in Phillipines this time, added my card (ING) with Phillipines as a country and a random address in Manilla.

Then I uninstall the Spotify app from my phone, and follow the steps from the video, visiting play.google.com and installing Spotify from the web Play Store, sending it to my phone. At this point it asked me if I wanted to use this account for payment and installation or just installation, I chose the first option.

I could see the download was pending for ages on my phone. I force closed, cleared cache, cleared storage for Spotify, Google Play service, and Google Play Store, and did the web store installation steps one more time. This time the download started, once finished I opened Spotify, logged in (you should be asked to after clearing storage and cache), and navigated premium, Prices are in PHP, I picked the DUO at ~ AUD $5.59 and paid with Google Play, and it went through first try!

Maybe this method is also fixing the issue I had with my Turkish account, but to be honest I don't want to do it all over again 😅 I really think Google is cracking on all these Turkish payments.

          nevergiveup

          • @maxwell2022: Much appreciate the write-up! I'll give it a crack and see how I go.

For reference, Ukraine was ~$8. That was hard to swallow after paying Turkish prices for quite some time.

  • Has anyone’s Spotify successfully renewed since the OlduBil changes?

    • Yes, just happened to mine which was expiring today. I’ve also received this notification in the app

We continue to work on allowing anonymous accounts to proceed with transactions using passport information. Please keep your accounts active to stay informed about the developments.

      Haven’t you received that notification?

  • thats a foreign credit card, I'm not sure if this would works

  • I have a Duo account for Spotify for my partner and I.

Changing them both to Individual and paying for a 12 month plan in case all these virtual cards (OldiBul and FUPS) become useless.

    • Did you just make the change? Which card did you do it from?

      • Yeah did it for my partners account. Used the FUPS card and paid the 399 TL.

Will try my account later, just waiting for my FUPS card to reload with credit. Not sure if I will need to wait for my Duo sub to lapse before I can go to annual Individual account.

        • Do you still have Oldibul credit? it worked for me 2 hours ago. really want to change to the yearly individual plans, but i have 5 others attached to it… ditch them? :D

          • @cheapass88: Yeah I had about 1500 on my OldiBul. Put it all as funds on my PSN account.

Haha 5 people to ditch is an effort. I did the maths and it was only something like $8aud cheaper to get a Duo account for a year billed monthly then 2 annually billed Individual accounts. Not sure the maths would be that good on 5 individual accounts compared to a family one haha

            • @robbiey: I've already been renewed for another month from today anyway. I think i'll leave it for now - I still have a FUPs account and I hope that'll continue to work. Some people on my Spotify account don't know I'm on the Turkish billing lol (my ex and her friend) - so I've been profiting last few months haha

Whats the next best option to get spotify, is there a guide for ukraine or phillipines, Couldnt find one with searchin here
    Thanks

  • Wise to Oldubil is working. However, I had to email their support team ([email protected]) with my wise transaction receipt to get the transfer to come through from wise.
Since then I was charged twice:
    1. TL Loading Fee (Bank) -37.92 TL
    2. Money Order/EFT Erroneous Transaction Fee -3 TL
Now I’m 8 TL short of paying for a second Spotify account and Wise is now asking for a payslip (I assume for KYC) in order to allow for new transactions/deposits to come through …. :(
