Great pricing on these Q acoustics speakers. Free shipping.

Pretty well reviewed (see https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/q-acoustics-3030i) and would be a great way to build a budget hifi or home theatre system.

These are passive speakers and so will need a receiver to power them.

Their newer and more premium Concept 20 bookshelf speakers are also on sale.

    Been happy with q acoustics

3030 looks like a good deal

6.5" drivers for sub $500 is about as good as you're gonna get

to get substantially better you're looking at $1k like the dbr62

    • +1

Kef q350 is a direct competitor, has been around 700. But this is a great price

      • This is better for people who want a bassier speaker, the KEF Q350 are more detailed but not as warm

        • +1

          All bookshelves need a sub

        • +1

Yeah I have a set of Q100s and it’s surprising how much bass they throw out considering their size. They definitely need a sub but I have managed a few years without one so far.

        • Exactly that. It really depends on the sound you enjoy. If you're into fun U shapes, get these. If more neutral, get Q350s. Mine has changed over the years and was looking at the Q Acoustics before (and their concept line) but ended up going Kef Q350 instead. Will eventually upgrade to R3s to match the R2C centre.

Either way, a sub will help.

    • Do you have a recommendation for an integrated amplifier? Planning a turntable system.

  • +6

They've been this price for a while now.

    • +1

Yep, same prices for the whole year now or so.

  • +1

Have been using 3010's when they were on sale back in 2018 for $199 and they've been great. The QB12 Subwoofer at $769.30 is also a great price!

  • got the 3030i a few months back for same price i really like em, just keep in mind theyre pretty big

  • +9

I built a 7.4.1 atmos sytem with these ( the .1 is an SVS sub) and they sound incredible, regardless of the price range, which is just a steal for what they are capable of! All the speakers except the front left and right are the 3010i's; front left and right are the 3050i's. Powering them via Denon X4800H and Rotel RMB 1504 for the height speakers.

    • Your build is what I am thinking.

4 x 3030i and 2 x 3050i? What are the height speakers? Can I use just one Denon X1700H to drive them?

      • Here's my speaker layout:

        4x height = 3010i
        4x surround = 3010i
        2x front = 3050i
        Center = 3090ci
        Sub = SVS pb1000 pro

Not sure about the amp question. The ones I got were in my budget so I went for them. Might be overkill but I'd rather have more power on tap than less. Good luck!

        • How did you mount the 3010i for height speakers? Mind sharing a photo?

I was thinking of doing the same thing.

          • @Morien: I used four Q Acoustics Q3000WB wall brackets. Really easy to install and straightforward to angle the speakers to the listening position. Just make sure you mount them on studs as the speakers are heavy enough to need studs.

          • @Morien: I've sent you a PM with a link to the pics of my setup. I don’t think everyone will find it useful posted publicly.

            • @aguitarfreak: Please may I have a look? Keen to understand how you're mounting them for height.

        • do you think using 3010i as height speakers is overkilled?

          • +1

@Watanabe1995: Possibly. But for me to really know the answer I would have to compare my setup with some other speakers as height in a movie like say Top gun maverick (that has an amazing atmos track by the way) and see if I am missing anything. I guess even then it would all be subjective to your ears. I had contemplated polk OWM3's which are quite popular height speakers, but they are priced the same as the 3010i's. So I'd rather have the matching look/timbre as well for the whole setup. What other speakers do you have in mind for height?

            • @aguitarfreak: agree, at this price point, 3010i is a no-brainer.
I can't find any other good small speakers at this price.
and I don't trust up-firing Atmos speakers, especially since I am going to try Atmos music.

        • @aguitarfreak would you be able to share what stands you use for the surround 3010i's?

          • +1

@Boxz: Atlantic Speaker Stands for Bookshelf Speakers up to 20 lbs - Pair (Black) https://amzn.asia/d/ex1WYHl

Got them for $94 back in March. And I use picture hanging strips to keep them attached to the base.

            • @aguitarfreak: Thanks, does it not matter that the top plate is too small?

              • +1

@Boxz: It hasn't for me; it's perfect after you use the picture hanging strips to set it in place. I recommend it.

              • @Boxz: The top plate should be a bit smaller than the speakers themselves to avoid reflections.

  • Dumb question…. Say the bookshelf speakers are they sold in pairs or invidual single units?

  • Really nice speakers

  • What would be best for a pure music system (No movies)? Q Acoustics 3030i, KEF Q350/Q150 or the Klipsch RPM 600 II?
I have the previous 2000 Q Acoustics speakers for my home theatre, and while they are great for movies, it sounds very average playing music.

    • +1

You need to audition. Q Acoustics have a sound across the brand. If you weren't happy with the 2000 series you probably won't be happy with the 3000 series.

    • Probably the Q350s but I can't say. You'll have to demo them.

  • Really like mine. I have two pairs of 3010 which are great (overkill) for my apartment, paired with two SMSL Q5 Pro digital amps and an old Onkyo sub.

They look very slick in both white and black.

  • Do they have wireless speakers for rear?

  • +1

Are these good as desktop speakers?

Use for a mix of Music, gaming, movies and general Teleconference/work stuff.

    • +1

They will be great. You will need a desktop DAC and/or amp for them to work (they are passive speakers).

    • Not sure but JBL LSR305s are very good for the money and don't need an external amp.

    • Perfect for it with a mini digital amp. That’s how I have mine set up, they sound fantastic.

    • They'd make an excellent desktop solution. I'd go with the 3010i's + a small desktop DAC/Amp like the Loxjie A30

      bext

      best + next?

  • What's opposite of passive speakers?

    • +1

Active speakers, or in other words, they have a built in amplifier. Most computer speakers are like this.

      • So why would want passive speaker like this over a computer speakers?

        • +1

Allows for choice between amplifiers. and minimises power cords when you run lots of them from the same amp.

Typically, PC speakers do not sound very good at all. Studio monitors are good but usually not appropriate for home theatre due to likely less dispersion and more neutral sound signature, hence why people buy passives.

        • +1

          Quality, flexibility, and purpose.

Quality: Most PC speakers are crap. There are some exceptions, but the active versions of passive speakers tend to cost this, plus a couple of hundred.

Flexibility: You can upgrade individual components when you go passive. You want a different receiver? Go for it. Want to use a DAC? Why not?

          Purpose: These can be a part of a 2.0, 3.0, 5.1, 10.8, 13.4.6 setup. Whatever you want.

        • In addition to what's been shared, if the built-in amp on an active speaker dies - your speakers are paper weights. If the external amp driving passive speakers die, there's a very good chance that your speakers will be unharmed.

  • Im thinking 3020 to go with my rotel A11 tribute amp. Thoughts? (have been holding off waiting on a good speaker deal)

    • +1

      That's a $1000 amp. If you're in for $1300 it's definitely time to audition.

  • How do the 3030i's compare to the Concept 20s? Is it worth spending extra on the latter in your opinion? Is the sound noticeably different?

  • +1

Received my 3020 today. Super fast deliver. Nice solid set of speakers. Thanks OP.

  • +1

I picked up a pair of the 3020is with a Topping MX3S DAC/amp for my office recently. They sound great, but definitely feel like they need a small sub to go with them. Does anyone have any recommendations for a small budget sub to pair with these? How's the baffle design on the Q3060S for a small room (2.5m x 3m)/primarily for music?

    • +1

      Check out the Voll S8.

      • +1

Very respectable specs for the price. Looks like it's been forever since they've done a deal though. Will need to consider my options!

      • +1

Dragged my DALI Concept sub from the TV upstairs to see just how much difference it would make. Pretty much immediately pulled the trigger on the S8 after hearing/feeling how much better the sub makes music sound. Voll have a satisfaction guarantee, so pretty safe gamble in any event. Thanks much for the recommendation!

        • +1

I've been using the S8 for a while now, paired with a set of Jamo C93 II fronts, and recently the 3090ci from this deal.

I found the company because I was looking for an Australian equivalent of the Micca RB42/MB42 which are very highly reviewed, apparently the Voll P44 (third or fourth iteration of their bookshelf speaker) is the same design, but improved.

After buying several products from them, their customer support is outstanding and cannot recommend them enough. Enjoy :)

      • +1

Can attest to Voll S8 being an impressive sub for the money. Your next best bet would be the used market imo
