NordVPN: 96% Cashback (Uncapped) for New VPN Plan Customers @ Cashrewards

960

Back again is this increase at NordVPN for new customers. Offer ends July 24 11:59pm AEST.

Be sure to check the terms below and TA's handy tips here

And as mentioned in the terms below in bold don't add any of the upsold products. A lot of people do and wonder why their cashback is lower. If you make a mistake you can cancel for a refund.

Special Terms

Cashback is eligible for new NordVPN customers only.

Cashback is eligible only on NordVPN plans, and not on any up-sold products such as NordPass & NordLocker.

Cashback may be ineligible if using codes not listed on Cashrewards, and ineligible on any payments made with Crypto currency.

Cashback is calculated and paid on the advertised cost of the plan only. It will not include any GST, taxes, credit card or PayPal surcharges.

The amount that tracks to your Cashrewards account may differ to the paid amount due to international exchange rates. Your initial payment is converted to USD, then converted back to AUD when reported to us. The advertised cashback rate is based on the reported amount, not the paid amount. Cashrewards has no control over this process.

Enjoy!

Hey guys, and thanks for posting @HamBoi69. Will drop these handy tips here, as they’ve helped many buyers previously. Have a great weekend :)

A new customer is defined by NordVPN, and nothing to do with your Cashrewards account. Simply use a new email address at their end, the same Cashrewards account as always, and you're good to go.

Click 'Shop Now' or 'Shop Offer' and buy - don't click away to other sites looking for codes and don't use any 3rd party plugins. Best to use the Cashrewards mobile app on 4G/5G as this eliminates potential issues with WiFi/router firewalls etc. Tracking for NordVPN typically takes 1-4 hours.

Remove any up-sold products from your cart such as NordPass & NordLocker as they are ineligible for cashback.

A tip from comments in previous posts is to select a country with no GST to save further at checkout as GST is ineligible for cashback. Pay with a card that does not charge overseas transaction fees.

And finally please remember you have the safety net of NordVPN's 30-day money back guarantee should tracking fail or if you’re not happy with the product. All the best :)

Hey @tightarse, thanks for the instructions. There's so many options in their plans. All their plans have been discounted by 66%. Does the cashback still apply? (Even better)

Ps, looking to get a 2 year.

      • yes even I had the same question

        • +2

All plans (discounted or not) are eligible for 96% cashback (2-year, 1-year, monthly) but not any up-sold products within the plans (as described above). So unless you really need or want the extras, best option (IMHO) is to simply choose one of the Standard plans and not Plus or Complete. Hope this helps :)

          • -1

@tightarse: I purchased two 2 year plans using different emails addresses. Only one got tracked via Cashrewards. The second one still hasn't tracked.
Is there a limit how many cashback we can get using a single cashrewards account?

            • @VishSunny: lol I am not sure if he will respond to you on this..

              • @PeeDee: Anything wrong in what i asked? i may not have worded it correctly. Just wanted to know if there is a limit of 1 cashback per cashrewards account?

  • Thanks OP

  • Hi, first time using cash rewards. How long does it take to show the transaction in my cash rewards account? I'm worried I've just paid full price and won't get cashback. Thanks!

    • Usually a few hours to a day.
Bit I believe Nord has a 30 day money back. So you can get a refund if it doesn't track.

I'll be interested how much you paid & the CR amount. Previously I only got ~87% back (even had my address in a no sales tax/gst place).

Can anyone please comment on the quality of NordVPN?

    • It works. What do you want it for?

      • I want to know if i can watch F1 races with overseas tele?

Also general user experience, latency, reliability and so on?

        • +2

It's fine for general location-spoofing use like that. If you're interested in privacy though it doesn't rate as high as other such as mullvad & proton.

        • If you use Kayo for F1, I highly recommend Windscribe VPN. It's the only VPN I have found to work with Kayo and I've tested a few including Nord.

        • I use Nord for F1TV via a Fire 4K Max and it works flawlessly, and is so much better than Kayo!

          • @bataleon: Can i ask which country you subscribe to F1TV? I can' get my CC working with them, always shown error.

            • @skinnybutt1: I use the USA. Here's the caveat though, I use my brothers existing account, and he lives and works in the USA and pays for it using his American CC 😕

    • +2

Nord VPN has dropped India from its list. If you need to connect to India, I would suggest you avoid this one.

I’m using Private Internet Access (PIA) now but was using NordVPN before this. I miss Nord tbh, PIA for some reason kept showing me captcha for Google search (Nord never did) plus on iOS PIA doesn’t have a snooze function (Nord did) so sometimes I forget to reconnect. In terms of the quality/speed of connection both were fine when connected - I just miss the features of Nord.

Positive change on the first point though is I made the switch from Google to DuckDuckGo which is probably better from a privacy standpoint and not relying on so many Google services (and gladly no captcha shown each time I want to do a search).

      • "" I made the switch from Google to DuckDuckGo which is probably better from a privacy standpoint and not relying on so many Google services (and gladly no captcha shown each""

Very smart move………… DDG hates google 100%

Their new DDG windows browser is in beta but very good overall.

  • +1

Great deal! Still got 1 year left from signing up last year. Hopefully this comes around again this time next year ;)

    • +2

This deal seems repeat every month or so. Just keep alert on ozbargain site

  • +3

Hey to double check, when you click thru I should be selecting the 2yr ‘standard’ plan? Not ‘plus’ or ‘complete’?

    • Bump on this.

      • @nebula9 @Gravehaunted

You are correct. Only the “Standard” plan I believe.

  • Does the Gmail +1 trick work?

    • why would you even do that and risk money. just sign up with a new email id

    • +2

It does, at least a month ago when i did it

      • Different company but it seems like menulog stopped sending verification codes and order confirmations to those emails, so use with caution.

  • +1

Plan expired last two weeks. So just in time!

  • Lol. Took out a 2 year standard plan, set the country to a non-GST one. Total was $86 or so, paid for it and got a receipt / charge for $136.. Are there some US / AUD currency conversion shenanigans going on, or did I just get played?

    • 86 USD —> $136 AUD

      🤷‍♂️

      • Yeah, makes sense. If the pricing was in USD, was just a bit surprised to get an invoice straight into AUD without some mention of the $86 USD cost.

        All good. ty.

        • What's a non GST country we can use.

          • @VishSunny: I used Monaco, because that's where my holiday house is.

            • +4

@dojomojo: Hey neighbour. Could I ask you close your blinds when getting dressed or attend a gym regularly.

      • Weird my receipt says "Total: A$125.64/2 years"

I selected Haiti as no GST

        • I used Albania (which says no GST) and then it just seem to slap it on there anyway… Weird.

  • +1

Does it work for Netflix, prime etc ??

  • Any recommendations for a router that can connect to this vpn and whole house network goes behind vpn easily?

    • +1

Possible with Ubiquiti Unifi Routers. At least the Dream Router. Assume will be the same with others that can run the latest OS

    • +2

Most decent asus routers can do this even on default firmware, e.g. AX56.

  • Is NordVPN still good after the security breach?
I used to be with CyberGhost and it used to be good but I did not resubscribe after my subscription lapsed because I got sick at almost every website I visited required me to do a captcha challenge. It was tedious.

I tried ProtonVPN and Mullvad and they were so so.

  • Well that was interesting.
Signed up for NordVPN only to discover that it doesn't allow the running of Remote Desktop Connection app to access my media server.

I hope the refund is as smooth as the signing up!

    • +1

It does support Remote Desktop. There is a setting in NordVPN app to enable Remote Desktop apps and also turn off stay invisible on local network. Whilst it works, there are a few limitations I have found. If I am on the same network and want to RDP to a PC using nordVPN, I can only RDP using the IP address of the PC, not its computer name. RDP over the internet (if you are ok opening such a hole) works fine.

      • I really appreciate the reply. Using your advice and some tech support from Nord, I was able to get it working.

        Thank you again.

  • Got a similar deal from Jun 12 and haven't received my money yet, still saying pending.. Not sure if I would trust cashrewards again.

    • Up to 90 days to approve the cashback.

      • yeah, apart from this I have other click purchase which I am trying to claim but haven't heard back from them for a month.

    • Mine was on Jan 16, approved on Mar 16, exactly 2 months time

  • What else to make more out of this? Cost about $9 for 2 years and I only used once so far to buy One Drive Subscription

  • Thanks OP. Cashback tracked within an hour of purchase. $8.75 for 2 years cant complain!

  • Can someone simply explain what I'd get out of getting a VPN? As many things you can think of

    • +1

      From ChatGPT:

Getting a VPN (Virtual Private Network) can offer you various benefits that enhance your online experience, security, and privacy. Here are some key advantages of using a VPN:

      1. Enhanced Security: A VPN encrypts your internet connection, making it much harder for hackers, cybercriminals, or even your internet service provider (ISP) to intercept and view your online activities. This added security is especially crucial when using public Wi-Fi networks, which are often unsecured and vulnerable to attacks.

      2. Privacy Protection: By using a VPN, your IP address is masked, and your online activities become more private. Websites and online services won't be able to track your real location, providing you with a higher level of anonymity while browsing the internet.

      3. Bypass Geo-restrictions: VPNs allow you to access content and websites that might be blocked or restricted in your region. This can include streaming services, social media platforms, and other websites that may not be available in your country.

      4. Anonymous Torrenting: If you engage in torrenting or file sharing, a VPN can help hide your IP address from other users, reducing the risk of potential legal issues related to copyright infringement.

      5. Avoid Bandwidth Throttling: Some ISPs may intentionally slow down your internet connection (throttle) when they detect specific types of online activities, such as streaming or gaming. Using a VPN can help you bypass such throttling, ensuring a smoother online experience.

      6. Safer Online Banking and Transactions: When using a VPN, your sensitive information, such as login credentials and financial details, are encrypted. This can prevent hackers from intercepting your data and helps secure online transactions.

      7. Access to Public Networks Safely: VPNs protect your data when using public Wi-Fi, reducing the risk of falling victim to man-in-the-middle attacks or data interception.

      8. Remote Access to Corporate Networks: Businesses often use VPNs to allow their employees to securely access company resources and files from remote locations, ensuring a safer connection.

      9. Gaming Benefits: VPNs can provide lower latency and reduce lag during online gaming sessions by connecting you to servers closer to the game's servers, potentially improving your gaming performance.

      10. Circumvent Censorship: In countries with strict internet censorship, a VPN can be used to bypass these restrictions and access blocked websites and services.

      11. Privacy from ISP Monitoring: A VPN prevents your ISP from monitoring your online activities, ensuring more privacy and freedom while browsing the internet.

      12. Protection against Public Surveillance: VPNs can help safeguard against mass surveillance and data collection by government agencies or other entities.

Overall, a VPN is a valuable tool that helps protect your online presence, keeps your data secure, and allows you to access the internet more freely and privately. However, it's essential to choose a reputable VPN provider to ensure reliable service and the highest level of security.

    • Almost a must if you use public Wi-Fi often (shopping centres, hotels, airports, etc). As you have no idea who's running them and how secure are they.

Also handy to bypass geofencing, to use services and check information restricted to other regions. But this is getting less effective as service provides actively backlist VPN servers and use other technologies to detect users' real locations. But still has its values.

Privacy, if you want to minimise your online footprint.

      • Thanks for this. What about to download things …………………… ?

        • That's part of privacy protection. If they trace your IP address, it will stop at NordVPN, instead of your ISP, so they don't know who you are.

If NordVPN really maintains no logs, then it will be difficult to trace: https://nordvpn.com/features/strict-no-logs-policy/

But I think there's always a way if the matter is serious enough, there are specialist tools and technologies to assist with legitimate investigations.

          • @browser: Yep. I getcha. Thanks a lot for that. I think ill get it, do I need standard or a higher solution? Have a friend coming over and want to binge watch a hard to get show

      • Thanks guys 👍. Useful information!

In terms of avoiding/reducing Bandwidth Throttling by your ISP - I've read some VPNs have issues actually slowing down your internet?

  • 96% is good,

I am waiting for 99/100% deal hopefully, Otherwise 98% should be good enough too (after current VPN subscription expires)

    • Yeah I'm holding on since this is a monthly deal and my VPN hasn't expired yet until Oct

  • Thanks OP! My old vpn sub just ran out yesterday, handy timing. BTW Anyone know if, after paying, whether cancelling the autorenew will a) mess up the pending cashback and/or b) cancel access to the actual service - even if it has 11 months to run? Afraid I'll forget to cancel at the end of the 12 months I've paid for.

    • I should add I had NORD for a year back in 2018 and they billed me for a renewal a good fortnight before the subscription was due to end

  • Hi all, I have just paid for the Nord VPM for two years. I am not a whiz with computers but I have downloaded it and it is running. Can you point me somewhere where I can read more about VPN's and what they do? I have read the message above about the advantages of a VPN but not sure how I should set it up. Thanks in advance for any help.

    • What are you wanting to do with it? (Seems a bit odd that you'd buy it without knowing what their purpose is..)

      • I bought it because I was under the impression that it will make my computer and other devices more secure and stop hackers.
I have seen them advertised on some of the YouTube channels the my husband watches where they talk about VPN's. I have seen VPN's advertised where they talk about the ability to use streaming services from other countries but I am unsure of how that works. So I was asking here where can I read more about them as I thought this was the best forum to ask that question.

  • why o why does a business give 96% off its services?
and that on a regular basis too?

  • What is the experience like for the 30-day refund period? Is it a pain free process and how long does it take?

  • Bought this Saturday - 2 yrs Premium - not 96% cashback but $116 of $218 tracked very quickly
HAve installed reinstalled on desktop and laptop - on IPAD perfect - on desktop and laptop Email server with iinet wont work with Outlook 2016 any more (with AVG internet Security AND Avg SecureVPN this is hitchless, and have been using for years.
Now email pingpong with NordVPN support - I do everything they say, and Outlook 2016 still wont connect to iinet servers (but outlook and ms exchange work OK)
Does anyone have a workaround for email servers via Outlook 2016 or Outlook
Another thing is it keeps changing serversHours and hours uninstalling AVG VPN, disabling AVG Internet Security, installing Nord VPN
Anyone know how the refund works This has been a $217.80 waste of money

    • I contacted support via the live chat button on the website and requested a refund - they asked why and just said it didn't work for me properly and then the person said they would process the refund and I'd see the money within 5 - 10 days. However, I never received any confirmation of this and the subscription still shows as active when I log in - but I'll give it a bit more time before I ask them to cancel and refund again.

      • Thanks

Which Is why I paid by Amex charge card - Amex will remove the charge from account if you have done due diligence, you give them proof you have attempted refund Then it is up to merchant to prove they are legally entitled to not refund you This was helpful just as covidemic hit and had to get money back from cheats like Swiss Int Airlines and Singapore Air - other vendors eg hotels.com, AmericanAir.com hilton.TLV Qatar.com gave money back almost stright away and had a conscience

  • wow 96% not 97% or 95% off… sounds perfectly legit what could go wrong.

  • 92% from what was tracked, not 96% but good enough

    • If you paid GST, that isn’t included in cashback. Hence TA’s tips above to choose a country that doesn’t charge tax.

    • Mine also ended up being 92%, and I chose a non-GST country. But not complaining .. good enough for me!

  • for the record I signed up successfully (with a new email) but Nord cancelled/refunded within 24hrs with zero comms. I only noticed it because I got a refund notification on my credit card. Not sure why but putting it out there.

PS: Ended up signing with PIA (currently 95% off CR). Overall about 40% cheaper too. Not sure about performance etc but it'll do for my purposes.

  • do former customers count as new customers, or do you need a new account?

  • +1

Argh! Just discovered I need this deal, one day after it expired!

  • @tightarse
Any chance of this coming back soon? Only saw it after it expired and it wasn't on for very long :(

    • It was on for 3 days…..

      • That's a pretty short time
        I wasn't on ozbargain in those 3 days :(

Understand you snooze you lose, so not complaining - that happens sometimes.

Just wondering if there's any news of it coming back again soon.

        • Lol I have the same question, my last 3 year plan ends in a few days. If I was better prepared, I would have set up a reminder for a few weeks before it ended.

Looking back through previous deals, it seems to pop up about once a month.

  • I missed this deal. Will there be any deals in the near future do you thin?

    • +1

Yes, this month. Similar deals happen every month.

    • Back again.
