Thought was a good deal. Was about to pull the trigger until I read that the 3080Ti laptop is somewhat equivalent to a 4060 desktop which is very disappointing. Could be good for someone else. First post, lemme know what do you think of the deal

Nvidia intentionally obfuscate the whole mobile/desktop distinction.
In addition, the 3080 Ti Mobile can come in many different configurations in terms of TDP, so performance can vary between two different laptops that on the surface would appear to have the same GPU.
While there are power and thermal design considerations that come into play here, that does not really excuse how vague they intentionally seem to make evaluating performance just on name.
Also, the user reviews don't paint a great picture for this particular laptop.
I'd say no, given that the legion 7 pro with a 4080 was an extra 400 with the last sale - 5 days ago (cash back included). But then again, there's been such a drought of actual sales/deals that even what we would normally consider terrible deals, can look appealing.

Posting an even older link here for reference.
Full explanation on the neg????
How did I neg? I posted a link as reference to @GachaGamer post as well as liked the initial post for being informative. Are you okay?
Not sure why you're being negged, as you posted a similar (even if much older) deal.
The one I'm referring to is: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/786258
Not sure either, I used an older deal coupled with your deal to show a better deal has happened multiple times for people looking to buy OP's current deal.
@ShinK0: There is a negative sign on your name. I think you accidentally voted negative on the post. That's what we are seeing.
@GuestShopper: Nah, my post of the link got negged by two people before the accidental neg of OP's post. I must've misclicked it when I clicked back or something.
I would still rather get the 4080 for $3,899 down from $5,599.
$2,999?
Does it include MMX technology? It's all about the Pentiums
I wouldn't say it's a bad deal. But I'd rather an i7 13th gen + 4070 for a similar price
As far as I know for the form factor nothing else really comes close. Like sure, you are paying a portability tax but that's basically the whole premise of laptops anyway. If there are better alternatives in the price range let me know so I can keep an eye out for them on sale as well lol.
Not much point comparing laptop GPUs with desktop, they never going to compare.
That price really shows how insane that HP Omen with 4090 for 2800 deal was, so sad I missed it
Can anyone explain the use case for these types of gaming laptops?
Surely a refurb $400-500 business laptop and a $2500 gaming PC would be a better option?
No hate to OP, thanks for sharing. I'm just interested in the appeal over a combined laptop/desktop approach.
The use case would be you wanting some sort of portability to move your gaming PC around. You either need it or you don't
People just want one device. 14" razer is great. Portable enough to take outside or on trips for work, but can also game. Can plug it in at the desk or if I need to go to the lounge room to play Roblox with the kids I can do that easy too.
I basically dont have a spot or space for a desk at home so laptop gaming is the option for me.
I have an older version of a 17" ASUS Predator that i got for less than half this price 5 years ago that still plays everything i need it to, not fussed about maxing out graphics, just want it to run at a decent resolution without burning out.
Will need to upgrade in the next few years but am always happy to grab something from last season for half the price of a new season system.
Check out Dave2d's review on the 16 model before considering
Just by Razers premium pricing standards. This is still a decent deal. Folks need to remember that new razers go fro 6-7k aud and thats not even the max config. I personally wouldnt go for it but Razer does have the best build (read: full CNC chasis) and a stealth look on a gaming laptop that enough people would pay for the premium.
Sure, sure the 3080ti here is massively cut down from its desktop counterpart. But trying to match the joke of a 4060 to this is doing it a disservice. In benchmarks? Sure, but ask yourself this: Does 4060 get 16gb vram? Does the 4060 get 256 bit bus? I dont think so. These alone means you are getting better performance in real gaming scenarios, especially since this laptop comes with a 4k screen which you arent going to go very far with the 4060.
On a pure price to performance ratio, certainly not a bargain. But Razer laptops have always had a huge premium, with that in mind this is a hella bargain for this machine.
Oh and dont forgot about the screen, its not just 4k but complete p3 coverage means this would do well for a mobile multimedia editing station. Sort of a x86 mbp (esp. considering the cnc build) alternative if you like-which is coincidently something Ive seen quite a few people mentioning why they opted for the razer blade over competitors gaming laptops.
3080ti has 16gb vram, could be helpful if you run stable diffusion with low power consumption
If you want top tier laptop gaming performance this generation you're going to have to spring for a 4080 or 4090. 4070 and below just won't cut it.
Mind you, you'll need to temper your expectations for those too, as 4090 laptop = 4070 Ti desktop and 4080 laptop = 4070 desktop
Which is still mighty impressive considering some of these laptops weigh less than a desktop graphics card by itself, but don't be fooled by Nvidia's naming scheme.
