16 AAA Eneloop NiMH Batteries for about AUD $42 Delivered, from Amazon

The price on AAA eneloops has just dropped, according to CamelCamelCamel:
http://camelcamelcamel.com/Sanyo-eneloop-Pre-Charged-Recharg…

Note this is actually for packs of eight AAA Eneloops, but when shipping is added, the per-battery price doesn't get good until you buy at least sixteen batteries, hence the title.

Price for eight batteries is US$16.35 + US$8.48 delivery = US$24.83 = about AUD$23.93 according to Google

Price for sixteen batteries is US$32.70 + US$10.97 delivery = US$43.67 = about AUD$42.09 = AUD$2.63 per battery.

Note these prices assume you use a 28 degrees credit card, otherwise you will probably be paying a surcharge for the currency conversion.

The link to the right is a direct link to the Amazon page for this deal, but please use the CamelCamelCamel link above, and spread a little bit of the joy their way for offering such a nice (and free) service. (No, I'm not affiliated with them).

And finally, yes, you can probably get these batteries a little cheaper off an Ebay seller. This deal is for people who want to be sure they are getting genuine Eneloops, and not worry about the possibility of getting fake ones.

Edit 7PM 1/9/12:
There is now a newer deal for AAA Eneloop batteries, and it is slightly cheaper if you only want four or eight batteries:
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/78867
These are glitter Eneloops, too.
Price for eight is $22.83 delivered, from ShoppingSquare, which is about $1.10 cheaper than this deal. You can also buy four for $11.90 delivered. However, this Amazon deal is still cheaper if you want 16 or more batteries, or if you have something else you want from Amazon and combine the shipping.

Lots of votes, which is good, but no comments?

I was hanging around to answer questions, but as there are none, I'm off to bed.

    • When you're not logged in, OzBargain append the URL the their own referral link. When logged in, this doesn't occur, unless you're using another member's link.

Thanks for the edit, now I just seem plain crazy :)

      • Sorry for that! For everyone else, I asked why the picture link came up with an "affiliate link" when I wasn't logged in. I worked it out, and a couple of minutes later edited my post. However, the moderation/publishing was going a bit slow, and cyssero replied to my original comment - which I had removed before cyssero replied, but the change had not propagated through.

That's not a bad price. I just bought these batteries and a charger from a seller on eBay in Germany. He sells the AAA batteries for AUD$7.37 per set of 4 (with VAT removed) and AUD$6.65 shipping (shipping on first/largest item only), so it works out about $36.13 for 16 x AAA delivered and includes a plastic battery box per set.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4er-Pack-Sanyo-eneloop-AAA-Micro-…

You'll need to translate the page though.

Edit: fixed up my crazy first calculations.

    • Thanks for this. Will certainly use the link in the near future for a renewal of my batteries.

    • have you tested capacity to make sure they're the real deal?

      • They first set is still running through the Maha breakin test since the last 30 hours. I have no suspicions though, the seller appears to be a proper German business. The invoice is really itemised and precise. He even sent the various items I ordered by Fedex (maybe because it was more than one or two battery sets).

If I find any problems, I'll report back but I don't expect that will be the case.

  • just got 8 of these delivered from shopping square —- took them long enough to get delivered, I've been waiting over two weeks! not buying from there again :/

    • My order is are taking forever as well, I had a look and it's being shipped from their HK warehouse. I thought I was buying local and didn't figure for 2-3 weeks shipping time.

    • i'm still waiting, bought on 16/8.

Nice. I only need 8 batteries so will have to combine this deal with other items I was planning to get.

HEY - don't even think about saying you don't need a certain ridiculous quantity of something. We don't tolerate that sort of reasoned thinking on OzBargain !!

      ;)

  • Anyone want to go halvies on these in Melbourne?

    • You'll be saving less than $3, so I don't think you'll get many replies. Good luck though!

    • should post a suburb, might find a neighbour on here.

  • I'd prefer to wait until the local Dick Smith has them on the shelf for $19.99, rather than jump through a million hoops like this, only to spend an additional $2. The wait is rarely more than a week or three.

Also a number of reviewers said they got the old style Eneloops from this seller, so I doubt you've got any better guarantee of quality than you would from an eBay seller (and in reality, how could you?).

As far as I'm aware DSE have never done a deal on AAA eneloops for $19.95
All the deals I've seen are for AA batteries

      • +1

Dicksmiths has a $4.95 delivery fee

        • When DSE have their AA for $19.95 deal, is that online only or can you go in store and get them?
I'm hanging for that deal again!

        • +2

AA Eneloops are easy to find, particularly with the help of OzBargain.

This deal is for AAA Eneloops, and deals for those get published much less often. Before I posted I searched for similar offers, and this is the best per-battery price in recent history.

Also, like Googolplex indicated above, many people have something they already want at Amazon, but haven't bought due to the shipping costs. If you are buying this deal, the incremental shipping cost to add an extra item or four is quite reasonable.

I bit and bought the AAA's with some AA's and a BC1000 charger.
With combined shipping it was a decent saving :)

        • Unco would you please send us a link to what you bought? I'm in the market for similar items and just need helP deciding on a good place to buy and good price.

I agree with you, but a lot of people I know will only buy Eneloops for the guaranteed quality.

At my house, I find it easiest if there is only one brand of LSD rechargeable battery, so the kids can recognise them easily and not throw them out when they are flat.

      • +1

I agree with that - better for the kids to just have one kind. That's why I ordered batteries from Ebay in a bright colour last year so they can recognise them easily.

        • +1

note to self: my superior brain can recognize different colours so I can ozbargain to no end muhahaha

  • so does this mean that www.camelcamel.com was taken?

    • According to the "about" page on CamelCamelCamel, the founder originally founded something he calls "the Camel Farm". As there are three people listed on the about page, I guess that's how they came up with CamelCamelCamel.

  • Anyone know that wicked battery recharger that goes well with these?

    • The Maha MH-C9000 (about $90) is always well regarded around here, as are the LaCrosse brand battery chargers. However, if you need a charger which will do more than AAA and AA batteries, I can't recall a good one being recommended on OzBargain.

There are two directions you can go: use a cheap charger, which will mistreat the batteries and you will get less charge cycles out of them, or buy a "smart" charger which treats your batteries nice, but is expensive.

Both options are valid. If you only have a single set of rechargeable batteries and you only charge them once a year (maybe you use them in a remote control), a cheap charger and replacing the batteries every ten years is the cheapest option.

If you depend on your batteries always being in tip-top condition (maybe used in the remote control of a model aircraft), a smart charger is the better way to go.

The Maha MH-C9000 is a smart charger, and I believe all of the LaCrosse chargers are smart chargers too.

If you are going to buy your charger from Amazon along with the batteries, remember it will have a US plug, and may only be rated to 220V. Australia is 240V, so check before you buy.

    • or you can read my link near the top of this thread that gives an alternative and much cheaper source for the Maha. Now that I have used it, I'm really glad that I chose it.

      • I must be blind but I can't find any link you posted in this regard…

        • the link and some other details are in my post earlier in this topic (scroll up the page from here). The time was 30/8 at 7.08am

        • Oh yeah, sorry my mind has this habit of disregarding ebay addresses when he sees them… not sure why actually.
