  • Are these rebranded of any other brand?

Hitachi renamed to Hikoki due to a merger I believe

      https://www.japantimes.co.jp/country-report/2018/11/12/spain…

I think Metabo is also in their fold which is why they look similar.

      Koko holdings - corporate history

"We own multiple global brands including HiKOKI, Metabo, MetaboHPT, CARAT, and Sankyo Diamond."

    • Metabo HPT. Not sure which came first.

Hitachi power tools became Metabo HPT and HiKOKI at the same time. Metabo HPT is the new brand name in the NA region. HiKOKI is the new brand name everywhere else. They are exactly the same thing, by the same manufacturer, using the same battery, but just different brand names. But Metabo and Metabo HPT are not the same thing. Different manufacturer, different tools, different battery, but do share the same owner, Koki Holdings Ltd. In my view a brand management blunder.

Off topic (slightly), there is an Hikoki router (36V) available in Amazon Japan but I can't buy it without Japanese account, is there a way to get this. Currently there are few cheap deals to Japan, probably better to hop over and get few things :)

Edit: This is a great deal if you can claim the free battery as well, around $200. I have too many Ozito to get these.

    • 36v trim or plunge? I made an amazon.co.jp account and ordered the 36v trim to Aus no issue. At the time I believe the 36v plunge is also available but I had already purchased the metabo hpt branded one from the US though Amazon.com.

    • Just make another account with Amazon JP.

I did that last year, bought router you mentioned, no problems. Was half price compared to here in AU.

Metabo HPT 36V router is exactly same apart from the branding and available from Amazon US for about half the price it is to buy here.

  • It's the trim 36V router, only 18V available here. Thank for the idea, I tried to create an account with Amazon Japan but couldn't, will try again.

Edit - this is supposed to be within the comments but keep forgetting to press reply button.

I was referring to the ROUTER, not the trimmer toy.

No idea why anyone would buy a battery trimmer, too top-heavy with a battery, will tilt and things get forked up.

          Desperate for attention are we?

          • @CatmanAU: No we just want to see what your referring to maybe someone else may be interested

  • Amazing price, paid 570 a few months back as needed it at the time.

Interested to know what the other kits that OP mentioned are are on sale. Can't seem to see any on sale on the bunnings website, but might have missed the sales.

  • Check out the Facebook page Hikoki Tools owners Australia. Lots of posts with photos. Available Australia wide. Bunnings have removed the pages which show the ones at lower prices, but if you have the IN number, they can still be found on the powerpass app.
