Beware that taking this offer means you don't have the waiting period waiver of 2months / 6months extras
But if you are transferring from another insurance policy from another company
the waiting period with the same level / item of cover will be transferred over

To get the 2months / 6months waiting period waiver + 8 weeks free offer, you need to use the 8WEEKSFREE promo code instead
    https://www.bupa.com.au/health-insurance/join-bupa

    • Unfortunately they don't give you 8 weeks free straight up, it's 6 weeks then another 2 weeks after being a member for 13 months.

  • Anyone here know if there any providers that waive 12 mth waiting periods (e.g. major dental) provided you're already eligible from previous provider?

The few I've looked at don't explicitly mention that.

When I've changed between Qantas, bupa, health partners, and nib, I'm sure if it was the same coverage level (eg gold coverage) then the waiting period served with the previous provider counts with the new provider too.

I believe if you were covered for that item from your previous health fund, then would be covered from new fund immediately. But if you upgrading the cover, then normally waiting list would apply on the upgraded items that you were not covered previously. You can always call them and confirm!

      • thanks OzB

  • Damn I was meant to do the EOFY one but got bogged down with other EOFY admin crap. Now my wanted policy would only net a measly 24K points.

Any other provider offers out there?

    • Hcf and Flybuys. Check it in your Flybuys dashboard

  • I signed up last year based on this promotion. I never received the points.

Each time I contact BUPA the issue is supposedly resolved, but then you have to wait 60 days + wait until end of the next month for BUPA to finalise communication with Woolworths and transfer the points. No-one at BUPA is able to tell me what steps I need to complete to receive the points, only that I should expect them.

tl;dr: Don't sign up to BUPA based on this deal, but give it a shot if you were already thinking of doing so.

  • Ahm is better though

  • I am with Bupa now (for last few years). I actually get less benefits and increased premium even if I get a step down on coverage. I think the providers have discontinued / reduced their level of cover over the years, This partly because I am reluctant to switch to any other provider.

  • Has anyone got their woolies promo points from the EOFY promo deal?

    • +2

I called and asked about it. The points will only come after 2 months into your policy.

      • 🙏 thanks! You saved me a phone call

        • Lady said to me today to expect them in my 3rd month. Make sure u check that ur everyday rewards is linked correctly, I did mine when I signed up and got a message today to say it wasn't, 2 days out from the 30 day window to link it.

          • @steve0123: Awesome thanks, just logged in and checked and yep I’ve linked my bupa and woolies account up so all good there. Will wait and see when the points come in.
I can confirm on my bupa app my next payment shows in September so I didn’t receive the X weeks free, took about a week to reflect that

            • @Iwantthebestprice: Yeah they forgot my free weeks, they added that today, probably hoping people don't follow it up.

    • I’m now past 60 days and haven’t received my points. Will call today. This was only worth it if we had to pay two months worth or less for the free stuff. I will be annoyed if I have to wait until the third payment is taken before I get the points.

      • I called last week to check on a payment issue and I was told I would receive the points one week after my next payment on 3rd October. So I’m pretty sure third payment has to be made then we get points then I will cancel as soon as points received. Bupa is terrible.

        • Really? Surely we can argue T+C that it says 60 days so even if we cancelled now we should be entitled to the points 🤔

          • @Pelicannn: I made a formal complaint to Bupa about three weeks ago regarding not receiving the rewards points from July 2022. Had the run around with 60 day waiting periods multiple times prior, got sick of it.

To their credit, the formal complaint was handled promptly and I SHOULD supposedly receive the points in the next business day.

tl;dr: don’t trust them more than once, escalate quickly if you want progress to be made

            Edit: Changed for clarity

            • @Dunnymeister: Alrighty so I called last Wednesday. They said they would look into it and get back to me. Was then told I would have reward points paid NLT Friday last week after they called me back. So far today nothing on Everyday Rewards and also Qantas App.

Very frustrating. I do not want to pay the additional month which is being charged in 12 days.
