Tidal HiFi Family (6 Users) Monthly Arg$145/~A$0.84, HiFi Plus Family Arg$225/~A$1.31 (VPN Argentina Req)

2940

**TIDAL HAS INCREASED ALL PRICES AUG 2023 - FAMILY HIFI PLUS (6 USERS) IS NOW 890 ARS OR $4.87 AUD / MONTH **. If you can find 6 people to share, still a killer deal for lossless better than CD quality streaming compared to Spotify. Ignore prices below.

Tidal Family Hifi (6 Users) - $0.84 a month, Tidal Family Hifi Plus (6 Users) - $1.31 a month. For single user plans, it's currently $0.58 a month for Hifi and $0.84 for Hifi Plus. Aug 1st 2023 price increase for Single Users: Hifi 380 ARS/ $2.22 a Month. Hifi Plus 570ARS/ $3.33AUD a Month. There is no price increase notice yet for Family plans.

Note: You don't need a VPN for playback, just during signup. After signup, you can switch off your VPN and use Tidal streaming as normal on any device anywhere.

Tidal Hifi - CD quality 16-bit/44.1 kHz, 1411kbps Lossless. (Best for 99.9% of the population, 4 x better Bitrate than Spotify).

Tidal HiFi Plus - MQA 24-bit/96 kHz, 9216kbps Lossless. (Seriously not needed unless you have compatible high end audio gear).

Spotify (For comparison) - 320kbps Lossy (Compressed).

Note: This works for new accounts only. Make a new account with a different email.

1. Turn on VPN to Argentina. (Use Tunnel Bear, PIA, Surfshark, etc)
2. Click on Ozbargain link. Single user plan top of page, Family Plans scroll down. Choose Hifi or HiFi Plus.
3. Ensure pricing shows ARS currency. If not, retry or try a different VPN. (Important)
4. Click through the registration process on the plan you want. Note: If it shows $145 in the later steps don't worry, the system means ARS 145.
5. Turn off VPN on Credit Card page as payment will not go through with VPN on. (Important)
5. Mastercard worked fine for me. Some have mentioned Visa Credit Card's don't work. See below for other Credit Card options.
6. After sign up, verify your email address (email will be in Spanish).
7. You no longer need the VPN and can use Tidal on any device normally.

Important Family Sharing Tip: When you invite “family” members to your Family Tidal plan via a link you email them, they MUST initially click through and register using VPN to Argentina for their confirmation or else they will get rejected. After confirmation, they can then use Tidal without VPN on any device.

UPDATES FROM COMMENT SECTION:

  1. If you use NordVPN, it doesn't correctly connect to Argentina and fails to show ARS currency. Use Tunnel Bear VPN instead.
  2. VISA Credit Card seems to not work. Verified working credit cards are Mastercard, 28 degrees Latitude, Coles Credit Card, Pre-Paid Mastercard from AusPost plus some other brands of cards, see comments.

May or may not be related to the upcoming price rises. From August MQA will be switching to hi res FLAC!

I bought a gift card coles mastercard today and so far it hasnt worked. Has anyone had success with these gift card mastercards from coles? It says to wait 24hrs but not looking good.

Can you get a Mastercard at your local bank? Or is Aus Post easiest method

    • I also bought a Coles pre-paid Mastercard but it won't work. I assume the Auspost pre-paid cards are different to the Coles ones… will have to go get an Auspost one to try.

    • +1

OK I went to Auspost and their Mastercards are different. I got the 'travel' one but probably didn't need to. The travel one didn't have the $8 activate fee but is a minimum of $100. As stated elsewhere, this one works.

  • Thank you!

  • Got the price increase email stating the new price will be $380 from Aug 1st (Previously $99)
Switched to Family for $145 to see if I can bypass it on this round.

    • Yea, family plans have not received any price hike email yet. Even if Family plans get a price hike and goes from $0.84 a month to $4 a month for 6 users on Hifi (CD quality), that's an amazing deal still compared to Spotify compressed 320kbs music. At the current 84 cents a month it's basically free and most likely unsustainable for Tidal to offer that price forever due to the ARS Argentina currency basically dying.

        • No one with a Family plan has said they received a price increase email yet.

  • Received this email in Spanish (wonder why🤔) and when translated it says this…

'The price of the HiFi Plus subscription will go up to $570 on August 1st. Your subscription will automatically renew at the new price of $570 on August 1st or on your next billing date (whichever comes first). The new amount will be charged to the payment method you have registered, unless you cancel before that date.'

It seems that the family plan is unaffected and is it viable to switch there and if so how? Will I need the VPN to be active while switching? Thanks.

    • Change in the app to Family Plus but I am sure they will also change the price of Family plans in the future too as it's basically free right now and not sustainable due to ARS currency crash.

      • @Dollar Dreamer

also change the price of Family plans in the future too

Oh OK. In that case, might as well stay on single plan then and not bother switching. Thanks.

          • +1

@xwx: I mean even after the price rise for HiFi Plus Individual to $3.30 a month, bloody hell that's cheap for Studio Quality 24 bit 96kHz Audio Master files vs 320kbs on Spotify. Aug 1st price increase is a non issue if using this ARS VPN signup, still super cheap.

            • +2

@Dollar Dreamer: Was thinking the same thing. 3.30$ is still cheap as chips (not anymore though) that I think I'll stay single.

              • +1

@pacificstorm: Potatoes are increasing in price too. Medium chips at my corner takeaway is now $5.50 vs $4.00. Chicken salt extra. Hehehe.

        • I will update the deal if Family Plus plans has been verified with the Aug 1st price increase. Currently no price increase on Family plans and deal hold's true.

          • @Dollar Dreamer: First Family price change post I've come across on reddit…

"El precio de TIDAL HiFi Plus Family cambiará partir del 1ero de Agosto de 2023 Hola El precio de la suscripción de HiFi Plus Family subirá a $890 el 1ero de agosto"

Surely they need to update their web pages soon? As they still show 30 days free then the old prices.

            • @newgas: Haven't received any email yet, no one on the Family plans here have mentioned of an Aug 1 increase, it's only for Single user plans but I am sure it is coming and will update the deal as it happens.

  • For $1.31/month, I couldnt resist…. 28Deg card worked perfectly.

HOWEVER - I needed to create a new account as my existing account showed AUD

    • Haha had the same problem just did that.

  • +1

Can someone advise why it still comes up as AUD after I log-in?
Before I logged in it came up with Arg$99
    (Using tunnle bear vpn)

    Edit:
Nvm I guess cause I made that account in AUS it comes up with AUD,
I made a new account with VPN on and comes as Arg$99, but also 1mth free trial.

    • Yep. Accounts are geo-locked, unless you ask support to delete your account entirely and start again - not sure the success rate there.

      • In the description 'This works for new accounts only. Make a new account with a different email.'

      • You can delete your account via the App. Done it and it’s pretty instant got it deleted and you can reregister using the same email.

  • Now that the Hifi plus plan comes with lossless flac is it possible for me to upgrade from my Hifi family to the plus family?

    • It will a worthwhile upgrade if you have compatible high resolution audio gear (Amps, Dac's, Speakers / Headphone) to take advantage of the higher sampling rate. If not, it is a waste of money.

  • +1

    No luck with Torguard :(
Did a 1 month trial with Surfshark, followed the instructions. Coles MasterCard works.
    ARS145 per month family.

    Thank you @Dollar Dreamer :)

    • Tunnelbear is no longer working, thanks I will try Surfshark now :)

Finally got my Auspost Mastercard to use!

      • +2

Tried Privado VPN, and it also works fine.

      • Confirmed checked out successful!

        • Surfshark no longer working. Getting the Unfortunately Tidal is not available in your country

  • Signed up with Bankwest Platinum Debit Mastercard, payment worked fine.

Set-up a family member, however on the payment page it says it will renew in a month's time for $589 ARS, is that correct?

      • Shit. Still three bucks a month is still pretty good

  • Any suggestions on VPN to try? (have tried NordVPN and Tunnelbear with no luck)

    • +1

I used PIA last week and it worked, don't know about now

      • PIA worked.

        • So did expressvpn

  • Interestingly - just signed up for Family Hifi plus and have my price under "Payment" in the portal as $890 / month

    • +1

Yeah new price from Aug onwards.

  • Yeah new price for Hifi Plus Family is 890 ARS per month

  • Anyone got a spare spot on their family plan they're looking to fill?

    • I can add you but not for free of course as I am paying for this legit. message me on TG. My TG is same as my username here.

      • Yeah happy to pay. Can I DM you here, I don't have TG

        • I can not DM, it says "Unable to send message: Overseas user"
Probably because I am not from AU. If you have discord, my discord is also same as my username.

  • So is it best to swtich to Single plan from Family considering the price hikes? (I don't plan to invite anyone).

  • Mine charged today, still at $0.54 aud a month. No price increase.

  • I'm trying with the free Privado VPN and it's giving me Romanian Leu instead of Argentine Peso. Anyone else getting the same? That brings it to almost $7 per month for HiFi

    • If its showing a different region prices, you need better VPN of course. Buy a good VPN lol its so much better and convenient. Its a small price to pay to save even bigger. You can find good deals posted here for VPNs.

      • I already pay for NordVPN (which unfortunately doesn't work for this as Tidal have blocked it). I just need one for the couple of minutes it takes to sign up.

        • Try using Windscribe

          • @StuffSneak: Argentina isn't included in the free plan unfortunately

  • +1

Same here, charged the current rate previously and now showing next month charge 890ars for hifi plus family. Might cancel the entire thing as the music collection isnt as good as I'd hoped.

  • My account showing HiFi Plus Family will be increased to Arg$890 in the next billing.

  • Just signed up using Nord VPN.. Needed to change the Nord server 4 times before I found one that worked in Argentina

  • I can't seem to get my AusPost Mastercard to work. Am using Torguard, which worked for sign-up (I used a Revolut temporary card for initial signup but they dont work after the free trial because the single-use aspect includes a validation transaction so it resets immediately). Does anyone know if they have stopped working or for example if I should use the card for something else first?

    • Mine is similar, used an AusPost travel Mastercard for signup and now the monthly renewal won't go through. The card is validated on the payment page but when they go to charge it every three days it fails…

      • +1

I signed up with APMC too, had the first monthly charge go through ok on 27 July, my next monthly charge is coming up in 8 days.

Have you had a monthly charge since sign up or was this the first one?

Could it be blocked by the card issuer?

        • Had a sign up charge of 0.96c Back on July 11 from Tidal Music Malmo SWE but now four payment failures since the 9th Aug, over the last 10 days.

          • @pussa: So APMC dead as an option then?

            • @akkipro: The AusPost MC travel one seems to be, for me anyway. I'll see if a manual payment, made by me, works after they expire my account, could just be their charge is being blocked. Wish they just used PayPal….

  • +3

I cancelled my subscription for a few weeks, and have just resubscribed and it's now back to 145 ARS for the family plan…

  • +1

Echoing what they ^ said. 146ars / 0.66aud charged today, as my free trial ended and finally had a chance to revisit current pricing. VPN via PIA, pay with revolut.

    • How do you pay with revolut? Visa? I have tried the temporary Mastercard which validates but then fails for the payment *because the validation counts as a payment and the details reset).

  • +1

I just received the email to update payment information to Argentina issued visa or MasterCard., failing which account would be terminated. Beginning of the end.

    • +1

I got the same email. Can't afford $24 per month, having just bought a Focal Utopia (expecting delivery in the next hour). Incidentally, my justification for the purchase was the lifetime savings on the Tidal subscription…

At the same time, I don't know how much use I'd get out of these without Tidal.

      • +1

I cancelled. No use fighting this. Similar to India YouTube subscription restrictions, soon currency arb will all but be finished.

  • +1

    uh oh
We would like to provide you with an important update regarding the acceptance of payment cards in light of recent changes in the handling of Argentine Peso (ARS) currency exchange by Visa and Mastercard. As a result of these changes, our payment processor will now only accept cards issued by Argentine banks for the foreseeable future. This includes both Visa and Mastercard.

Depending on your current country of residence, you have a few options available to you:
If you currently live in Argentina and are using a VISA or MASTERCARD card that was not issued by an Argentine bank, please update your payment method to a card issued in Argentina. Failure to do so may lead to billing failure and, ultimately, the cancellation of your subscription.

If you have moved to a different country, you will need to create a new TIDAL account using a different username and register it in the new country where you currently reside. Once your new account is set up, we can assist you in transferring all your playlists and favorites.

    • +1

Oh wow. So with Argentina now looking like it will end. What’s the next cheapest country to sign up with? I use tidal every day so don’t want to lose my memberships to the hifi option.

  • I received the following email from tidal:

  • Just got charged 225 ARS, Tidal says I'm good through till next month.

Hifi Plus Family, so has reverted back to pre-price hike pricing.

    • I think it was to revert back to old pricing for one month only as a sorry for forgetting to notify family plan owners of the price rise.

  • I was charged $1.00 for Hi-Fi Plus Fam yesterday.

  • Anyone found a solution for this, e.g. another country to migrate your subscription?

      • Thank you… Not sure if I'll be bothered pursuing that.

The other issue is that I've been using my Argentine account for a few years and it knows my preferences really well, so creating a new account in any country, even in Australia, will reset everything - eve6if I manage to migrate my playlists. Is there a way to get around that?

  • +2

Tidal cancelled my account. Here's the email I got (Translated to English)

We have canceled your subscription to TIDAL.
    Hello, Mr
Your TIDAL subscription has been canceled due to non-payment.
Don't worry; Your playlists and favorites will still be there if you reactivate your account. Press the button below.

    • It's started! What are you planning to do?

      • I still have Deezer and Spotify.

        • I have YT Music, as part of YouTube Premium, but don't listen to it, as it's lossy, with no hi-res option. How does Deezer Hi-Fi compare to Tidal? At $15 a month it's somewhat palatable.

          • +1

@elektron: Deezer is the same as Tidal, if not better.

            • @Digbo: Looks like Deezer's top tier supports Redbook, but not hi-res?
