Description from Amazon:

  • WiFi Enabled with App Control: Pair the hydroponics growing system with the "Gennec" app using WiFi to remotely turn on/off light/pump/fan at any distance. Freely adjust the light time to fit for day shifters or night workers. Adjust the fan and pump runtime according to the different growth stages of your plant.
  • Garden Recordkeeping via "Gennec" App: Plant Diary lets record varieties you grow and what you're learning as you garden, while sharing joy with your friends&family. In later years, look back at your garden records and decide what to change or keep the same.
  • 2 Planting Modes & Adjustable Light Height: Choose ‘Vegetable’ or ‘Flowers & Fruits’ mode for your plants to get specific light conditions. The light height can be adjusted to provide sufficient light at every stage of your plants’ growth (Max. 11.3 inches).
  • LED Grow Light & Fan: 22-Watt full spectrum LED grow light of hydroponics growing system simulates the sunlight to ensure your plants grow prosperously no matter what season. A built-in fan helps disperse heat during germination and spreads pollen to promote flowering.
  • Water Shortage Reminder: When the water in the tank is less than 1L, the Fan&Water indicator light on the control panel will flash and the pump within the app will shift from blue to orange water to remind you to add more water. Friendly to people who always forget to add water to the tank.

Just be warned…IV had 2 of these, and those same 2 died on me within the first 12 months of use (the none wifi model).

I got my money back on both of them, but in both occasions the pump was the first thing to die, the pump's just too weak and unreliable for the amount of use hydroponics need.

I say "first thing to die", because 1 of them I let keep running without a pump (Amazon let me keep it after refund), then in due time the LED's stopped working properly with constant flickering.

If it breaks within the 12 months you get it you should be able to get a refund, but if it does after it you probably won't get anything.

I'd recommend spending more and getting a more robust hydroponics.

    • Which one do you recommend?

i don't know, i haven't gotten another one yet. But these iDOO's, as good a price they are, as pretty as they may look, they don't last long.

I have a feeling this may be a common theme for all of the "All in one" hydroponic kits in this lower price range

at Bunnings for $75.90, 20 watt full spectrum led light
Bought mine for over 1 year, grow strawberry & lettuce from seed no problem

Be sure to use proper fertilizer

        • Can you recommend the fertilizer you used as well?

I started with the 7 pod model and also had a generic non wifi version of this 12 pod model. They were both great for greens like lettuce and herbs.

I've since gone DIY and am growing a lot move of my own food (previous attempts at gardening were ended without much success.)

Check out https://www.youtube.com/c/Hoocho/videos for some great videos (not my channel) on a range of DIY and premade systems.

        • Hoocho's channel is great, I've got two of his systems running now, and haven't had to buy leafy greens, herbs, zucchini, tomatoes, radishes, peppers etc for ages.

          Is that question for me?

If so, no, just a wannabe gardener that got addicted to hydroponics during lockdown :)

I'd suggest the Spider Farmer model - their main business is grow lights, so you will at least get a decent LED panel. Their model is designed with more aeration too. I have two IDOOs, and they have worked well for me, though the reliability isn't super. One is still working fine, the other has had a colour shift on the LEDs to red, although it still grows herbs and lettuce fine. Honestly, you don't need too much light to grow most leafy things. Or just DIY a version of the same thing with a storage tub, a grow light and an air pump. I've done one of those too, and currently growing a bumper crop of peas in it.

Also make sure you get the 2023 model as it has brighter LEDs - 36 watts vs 24 watts. I think this is overall, so not exactly sure of the LED rating.

    • I should add that in the time that I had it that the pump was working I did have things successfully grow in it. I was using it to grow chilli's which it did a good job at that

Can confirm, mine lasted 14 months then broke, no refund.. strongly recommend if you are really serious in getting on of these pay a bit more for better quality otherwise it’s just landfill

      • was yours like mine where the pump was the first thing to go?

        • Yep pump first, I kept it as I couldn’t get a refund and about 3 weeks after pump went the LEDs start flickering at that point I just chucked it out. Complete waste of money and a shame something I bought to save some $ on buying herbs and to grow them fresh instead ending up costing me much much more then I saved lol

          • @Iwantthebestprice: Ahaha exact same problems as mine, and like mine I chucked it out.

However I found that when it was working it was working well, so I'm a positive side it has peaked my interest for hydroponics and I'm thinking about making a proper setup from kit.

  • Good while they last..

no way that this light is strong enough for full growth of anything. Most things will grow spindly and leggy.

  • Mine works well but always seem to die in a week or so due to mold.

  • Had a smaller, non-wifi version of this, and within about a week it started leaking into the electronic components and failed.

  • Bought one let's see how it works out

  • Anyone know the electric consumption?
