The ram is very slow for this CPU.

    • 16 GB is more than enough for most people, CPU is a U processor too (15 W)

I think they are not directly referring to the amount of RAM the machine is equipped with, but rather the speed of it being 2666 MHz, not 3200Mhz or 3600MHz. By the way, how many watts should a CPU in this price range be?

        • This CPU could be used with ddr5 and that would be a better match for the integrated graphics.

but rather the speed of it being 2666 MHz

I am wondering people really feel the difference for an office laptop.

  • 120Hz and Xe graphics?

    • The panel has a 120Hz refresh rate, so I believe it'll be pretty smooth even in day-to-day tasks.

Honestly it's a total waste if you're not gaming. No one needs to see an extra mouse position or 2 to be displayed when they move their mouse, and scrolling doesn't need to be smooth either.

        • Can you use an external GPU with this laptop? Does it have enough PCIe connections?

  • Seems very much like a sales rep…

No, you are at fault, I am not associated with Dell. I found this deal good value for money, so I posted it.

  • Does AUAFFILIATES5% stacks with ShopBack 14% cashback?

    • Can you try this and let me know how it goes?

    • No code on ShopBack means it won't stack

      • So, better to use ShopBack 14% when available then :)

        • Correct!

        • 15% now on SB/CR

  • I would take the LG deal that’s also linked above instead. Intel is extremely horrendous with battery life, that alone is worth the SSD sacrifice and extra price for the LG. Not to mention the 16:10 display and the much larger battery on the LG. The LG is a pretty good deal, this is just okay. A good option if you absolutely need quicksync i guess. Though you can also try getting a refurbished latitude from Dell Factory Outlet. They come with 3 year onsite warranties usually, which makes them decent value.

    • Have you found any of these refurbished machines? If you have, can you please link it, I may be able to consider.

      • Here’s a 13” vostro with a better screen and a better CPU, with in-home warranty service: https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/refurbished-vostro-13-5320…

Here’s a 14” Latitude. It is unfortunately an i3 with 8gb ram and 256gb ssd, but it is a quad core i3 which matches the i5 and i7 11th gen and both ram and storage is upgradeable. Comes with 3yr next day onsite: https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/refurbished-latitude-15-35…

Most of these deals are not great right now. Usually the best deals come near april and november. Stock is not always consistently there. Though i’d personally grab the Vostro over this inspiron if you really need intel.

  • Just a heads up, I did some reading on these inspiron models, and their hinges give away randomly. I Had a talk with Dell help. Hinges are not covered in warranty !!!!!!!!!!!!!

If hinges fails, good luck, your laptop is now a brick. I have an older Inspiron(2010) still working great, but the recent dell machines arent good at all, which unfortunate as the price point is really good

    • If you find any other deals, please let me know.

  • Hey guys any idea if this laptop is a good one. It comes down to $1299. I'm looking one with at least 15.6", 16gb ram, 256gb for photoshop, canva, running multiple tab at the same time, etc.
    Thanks

    • Bad choice. I suggest you look at Lenovo's website, there are some (great prices)[https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpade/thinkpad-e16-(16-inch-amd)/21jt001fau] there because of EOFY. All your criteria can be met with this laptop. ThinkPad is very reliable.
