    great

  • +4

    Free*

Why the asterisk, what are the conditions?

    • +3

Added the T&Cs, which doesn't reveal much.

    • +5

As its free the wait will be long
I asked when i had it and they said its a 10 day wait for "free" puncture repairs

      • +26

LOL…I guess that's how they get around it. No one is going to wait 10 days…marketing BS.

      • +3

I think it depends on the location. Last time I just rocked up to my local Beaurepaires and they did it on the spot while I did my shopping (store was not busy/empty).

      • +30

Get it fixed and tell them you got NRMA membership at the time of payment?

        • This.

        • +5

tried this a few months ago but didn't work.
most of the Beaurepaires seem to be very understaffed, was told 7 days wait for a puctured repair when I didn't even mention about NRMA member.
Got it done same day at MyCar for $38.

          • +2

@superbass: Lol why would anyone book in advance you run on flat tyre for X days? Honestly it's bs

            • +2

@neonlight: Put a bigger countersunk screw in. Will stay up for a week..pump up if needed.

            • @neonlight: ha. they are understaffed (like had 10 people awaiting in the store) so wasn't a big deal as I was keen to do asap

      • +1

It is not free for Beau they charge NRMA.

    • Might be you need to buy the tyres from them?

      • +2

Why do you need to repair a tyre when you are buying a set of new tyres? lol

    • punctured tyre

  • +4

Does the tyre need to be on the car? Or can I bring in a wheel?

  • +1

Damn. Just paid $40 for a puncture repair a few weeks ago.

    • +7

You could still be waiting if you booked in for the free repair

  • Does it mean that I cannot get a puncture repair and tyre rotation done in one booking?

  • +19

Brb…Going to put a hole in my tyre now

  • +1

Do I have to buy the tyres to get the free rotation?

    • Nah

    • +21

Nope just drive around and your tyres will rotate for free.

      • -1

But what about wheel balance? How will I achieve this by just driving around?

        • +5

Go the wrong way around a roundabout for a while (during peak hour is best).

          • +6

@WhyAmICommenting: Also driving everywhere in reverse so that the back tyres do some work.

        • +4

ask a fat lady or gentleman sit on the unbalance side of your car and go for a road trip.

  • +12

Yeah I regularly book in for a tyre rotation/balance - they are always confused when I mention the free offer and have to direct them to the website (it's mentioned on both the Beaurepaires and the NRMA websites). It's annoying having to explain it everytime but hey, it's free. (Tyre rotation/balance would normally be $50).

    • Crap, just did one for $75 at ½ Price off at Bob Jane T Mart. Usually $150.

Oh well. Next time. How often is this recommended/needed?

      • +1

I do it once / year. I think it's generally recommmended around every 10 000 km.

        • +1

Doesn’t this get done when you get your car serviced anyway?

          • +1

@j1nx: Not normally - you'd have to request it - and they'd add that to the cost of the service.

          • +2

@j1nx: My dealership asks if you want to pay extra for a rotation.
I mean I guess someone has to carry the tyres like 3-4m to the opposite end of the car.
That seems like a justifiable fee, right? When you’re already paying hundreds? 🤬

            • @YellowDieselGolf: Some claim they rebalance them before refitting in new position - which is correct procedure. Canberra Toyota dealer charged me for a rotation and rebalance (part of a logbook service) but didn't do it. Didn't offer a refund, just a cursory 'we'll do it next time'.

              • @Igaf: Interesting. How could you tell they didn't actually do it?

                • @zaphy: I marked my wheels as many have done in the past.

    • Do they give you shit for it? After all they're not earning anything from you

      • +7

They're definitely claiming money back off NRMA for it

      • +1

Nah they're more ignorant/confused of the offer. NRMA would compensate them.

    • How long did it take usually to do rotatation and balance?

      • +1

Not long, maybe 30-45 mins, I usually just hang around and wait. You have to book in.

    • Thanks, I was struggling with the idea is paying for a rotation.

    • what are the 2 links you use?

  • +1

I paid $40 this morning at Blair's Tyres. They took the tyre off cleaned and patched from the inside and plugged the hole too and put tyre shine. It was definitely worth the $40

    • +1

This is the good way. I've seen a couple of places just use the plug.

      • Plug is what happens when you ask me to plug your tire haha. Doesnt really make sense to drive on a flat so maybe only for slow leaks or removed tyre off of vehicle?

        • "Tire" 🤢😜

          • @BargainKen: 'Tire' was the original spelling (now mainly American), so he's right both times.

  • +1

Oh wow, I never knew about this offer

  • +10

Lots of Beaurepaires repair punctures for free without needing any NRMA membership. I got a very pleasant surprise not long ago, then googled it and found many other reports of people getting free puncture repairs. Tried Jax Tyres where I bought tyres from previously, bloody useless. Told me they were too busy and to come back the next day. Beaurepaires though? Also busy but were more than happy to repair it on the spot, then tell me it's on the house. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. That's how you build a good name for yourself and next time I need tyres, I will go to them instead.

  • +4

is this available for NRMA blue membership?

    • +4

Yeah - NRMA benefits = blue membership.

      • Works in all states, right?

        • +2

Watching this to see if anyone confirms it worked in WA.

  • +2

    Jack lives there?

    • +1

I see what you did there.

  • +2

Please note that when the tyre is removed from the rim to place a patch inside the wheel needs to be re-balanced, hence the high cost of a tyre repair done using an internal patch.

Are Beaurepaires going to plug, or patch and re-balance at no cost?

    • I didn't know this.

When our Goodyear service centre put in an internal patch in our car's tire I asked whether they needed to balance the wheel again, and they said "No."

They explained that they mark the tire with chalk near the valve before they remove the tire, and then when they put the tire back on they line up the chalk mark with the valve again. Thereby the tire is in the same position as when the wheel had been previously balanced. They said that the small weight of the internal patch won't affect the balance.

Can anyone confirm the correct procedure please? Should a tire be balanced again after an internal patch? Surely the manufacturer of the patches would have recommended procedures to follow.

      • +1

I had a patch done at Bob Jane and this was the method they used. I had dropped by my regular tyre shop for something else and mentioned it to them and they said that's the lazy way and rebalanced it for me. So I guess it's probably the half ass way to do it.

  • didnt know that

  • Didn't know that, thanks for sharing.

  • Puncture repairs comes to you?

    • Puncture comes to you

  • Didn't know that, thanks for sharing.

  • +4

I rotate my tyres every time I drive.

  • Cant seem to book online cant only buy tyres wheels or batteries

    • Just call the store and book in.

  • Is it extended to reciprocal members? For RACQ?

  • do i have to buy there tyres for the free balance and rotation?

i just bought my car last year, brand new. and i am coming up to a year. i would like to get free balance and tyre rotation.

  • +2

In vic too? I have nrma blue and didn’t know this, had to pay 47 bucks for a tire puncture repair at Jack’s instead

    • In vic too?

I would like to know this as well.

  • My local tyrepower gives free puncture repairs in the hope people come back to buy tyres from them.

  • Mycar give free puncture repair. Free balancing. Free alignment and five free rotations with tyre purchase.

    • Not for me unfortunately.

I got my new tires from Mycar and a month later got a slow leak in one of the tires. They looked up their records and because I didn't get the new tires and a wheel alignment, they charge $35-$50 to repair a leaky tire now.

I'm in VIC by the way.

      • Its almost impressive how weasely these companies can be. I bought my last set of tyres my MyCar and got the wheel alignment done, my steering wheel centres about 5 degrees left ever since, it used to be plum. there was a time when i would have cared but I just cbf arguing about some things anymore.

  • Great, wasnt aware of it

  • Nice. Commenting to save.

  • NRMA member for over 10yr and didn't know about this. But just looked around my area and found no store within 20km.

  • i have a bottle of slime in the car …..when i have puncture, pull out what is causing the pucture, remove valve and fill tyre with slime, pump up and drive ….. usually fix as emergency but has been no issues after 4 years ….. keep some in the car as shops usually aren’t open but can ring petrol station with air …… some euro cars now include slime …….

    • Never heard of slime before, that’s cool!

Once you’ve slimed a tyre can it then be plugged in the normal way for a more ‘permanent’ fix?

      • +1

Many places will not repair a puncture once it has had this type of product in it.
You may find a few that will but you should tell them beforehand as apparently it gets messy when they take the tyre off

        • ah ok. no slime for me then.

kinda reminded me of TMNT though

    • what slime ?

  • This is excellent. Just paid $25 at Costco for a puncture repair a few weeks back. Wish I knew about this lol

    • Did they use an internal patch (ie did they remove the tire to put on the patch?
Also did they balance the wheel after the patch was put on?

      • Nah they did the whole process while the tire was on the car. Took them only a couple minutes. The puncture wasn't very deep, hence why I regret not knowing about the NRMA free tyre punctures.

  • Is there anywhere that can do an alignment for a reasonable price or at least check if my alignment is off without charging?

  • Will this work in VIC?

  • Stupid question… if our car insurance is under nrma, does that mean I am their member? Or do I still need a blue membership?

    • +1

NRMA insurance is not the same as NRMA roadside assistance.

  • Have NRMA but in Qld will they honour here ?

  • Can you just get the rotate and balance no puncture repair? Ive had 2 punctures in 30 years i imagine most people have had a similar rate of punctures.

Rotate and balance will give you longer on that set.

    • Yes.

  • Can you do it outside NSW? For example in Mildura just over the Victorian border?

    • I had it done at south melbourne today

      • How they charge you $0? Did you just show membership barcode ?

        • No charge, and show membership on App. I booked thru chat online
