  • Swear i paid half this

    • Where and how. I need some security cams soon

      • +1

Old deal but you still shouldn't pay this much

    • Was probably the older 1080p version which frequently went down to 500-600 on sale for a 4-pack

      • 2k

        • fair dinkum, would've been a ripper deal then. Only ones I've see around $500 price for 4 pack would be the eufycam 2c pro 2k or the eufycam 2 1080p

I bought the The Eufy 2C Camera in 2020 from SCA ($304.96):
    https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/eufy-eufy-wireless-1080p…
But I find the quality of picture is not that good.

How is Eufy Cam 2 Pro 2K compared to it or any other wired security cams in this price range ($1000)?

    • +1

4 Dahua cams with Nvr can be had for under $1000 from a number of Aus suppliers, bit more effort to wireup depending on location, but at least once done It can be left. Plenty of advise on ipcamtalk.

      • I find the biggest drawback with those type of cameras (liek Hikvision etc- anything hardwired with no effort made on UX is that multiple things can fail- the heardrive, the screen etc. Also the whole process is just not very user friendly.

These have a reasonable quality and its pretty much plug and play and so easy my granny could use it.

        • +1

The same exact things can fail on this though, can your granny monitor the batteries & reach to recharge them, work the app & smart device along with doing updates etc?

        • +2

Anything can fail, desktops, laptops, cameras etc, most reputable Dahua suppliers come with a 3year warranty.
If plug and play is what your after then these type of cameras Or Reolink type will be fine, but just bear in mind daytime image maybe ok but it's important that you get a clear image at night when the subject is moving, with no ghosting motion blur etc. Dahua, Hikvision to name a few alow you to adjust shutter speed, priority, gain etc. I believe @bluespider is not happy with the image which is the main purpose of a security camera, so just giving him one option it may not be what he's after but ipcamtalk is a good place to start. I hope your granny is not climbing that ladder to charge the batteries.

    • Is the picture quality not good throughout the day or just at night?

I'm thinking of getting this one, upgrading from a single Google Nest Cam: https://www.costco.com.au/Smart-TVs-Audio-Cameras/Cameras-Ac…

I got 4 of these from bunnings for $129 each - $516 total
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/eufy-2k-pro-security-spotlight-c…

Same 2k res, uses a spotlight instead of night vision, no homebase needed

    • It has night vision option too, you can pick within the settings. If you care about range, night vision is better, if you care about picture quality and deterrance, spotlight is better

      • Oh that's cool to know. I'm picking it up in the next few days

  • Be aware these aren't 24x7 recording. Those looking for 24x7 should wait it out for e330 to be released in August. They are the "lite" version of s330 and hence will require wired connections to get the through..

  • FYI - its the exact same price from Eufy direct

  • PM at Bunnings for extra 10% discount

TGG has the s330 version (4x 4K solar cameras without spotlight night vision + new gen 3 base station) for $1599.

In January I bought a set of the 4K s330 with 380 base station + 2x EufyCam 2 Pro 2K add-on cameras (for inside) from JB Hifi for just under $2000 for the lot (I used gift cards as well).

Now, 4½ months later the 4 4K solar cameras (outside) are all still at 100% battery (2 of them have recorded around 2,000 videos and detected around 3,500 movements each in that time), and the 2 2K cameras are around 90% battery left but have MUCH less activity (because they scheduled off except at night).

The 4K quality is a bit better than 2K, especially when "zoomed in". Either would easily produce readable number plates in the driveway. The LED spotlight night vision produces a full colour image and is quite good - BUT only fairly close. The light (and thus image quality) drops off beyond maybe 3m so the IR night vision is better for something further away.

The AI detection / recognition built into the 380 (gen 3) base station is OK, but not fantastic. It does do a good job of filtering out false detections though (like moths or wasps triggering or trees moving in wind. If you set it for People, Animals/Pets & Vehicles, you will not see much (anything ?) else.

I whacked a 250Gb 2.5" hard drive into the base station to store my events and it is sitting on 95% after around 4,000 videos over 4½ months, so pretty good. Obviously no monthly subs.

So, if budget is tight then something like this deal with the older base station + 2K cameras will do the job, but if an extra few hundred $ can be found the newer 4K set is worth it - especially if you can mount the cameras where they get a few hours (at least a couple) of direct sunlight every day. I had to make a couple of "extender" brackets to mount two of my cameras under the eaves/soffits and extend them out to under / just past the gutters to get them in the sun, but the solar is working a charm - I doubt I will EVER need to charge them.

For comparison, I had both Arlo 720P and Arlo Pro 1080P before the EufyCams, and either 2K or 4K EufyCams make the Arlos look EXTREMELY poor (like really bad), and the Arlos used to give me a fair number of false detections because they detected moths, wasps, geckos, wind etc, even with the sensitivity turned down.

    • Homebase 2 is feature limited compared to the 3 what it is worth. You lose things like human recognition (facial) for example.

Agree with the statement they make Arlo's last gen look poor by comparison (can't speak for the current one). No more false alerts from insects or strong winds.

The only feature I miss is geofencing with the ability to select the scheduled profile as one of the modes which Arlo had. Eufy has dragged that out without adding for years. raise a support ticket as a feature request. The more people that do, they may just get around to completing it as they had started but stopped delivery on it.

    • this package doesn't come with UPS for Homebase 2.
