  • dang it! I ordered yesterday and paid 533…. smaller store as well. :(.

    • I ordered yesterday too, same store, same price.

      • The other store that I bought from being smaller did manage to ship it under 24h.

Large stores like official ones may take a long time to process. But you should get 'maybe better chance' if you need warranty.

This deal is cheaper and larger store. Great deal.

        • +1

I don't expect any warranty at all.

    • hi is it plus gst? please share your understanding of Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 Octa-core, Qualcomm Adreno GPU, Up to 2.91GHz, Thanks.

  • Poco F5 Pro ~$690 as well. Tempting but still too much to upgrade from my F2 Pro.

    • Please share your experience here
over with Apple hypes wanting to try mid range phones now

  • -7

Don't buy it if you want warranty. They don't have Proper international warranty for Aussie.

    • +2

No kidding is this your first time learning about AliExpress?

  • +6

Purchased Poco F3 March 2021 using it everyday until now , bought from AliExpress official poco store. 0 problems works like it did back in 2021

    • Same here. Have no reason to upgrade even with F5 it's just too iterative.

Charging time is about the same (granted bigger battery), screen the same, main camera a bit better. Yeah not much to go up to.

    • I am still on F2 Pro, working flawlessly as well still. There are some concerning things like dead mobo in Indian made Pocos in last year's models. Hoping no issues with this year.

      • That's impressive. Mine recently stopped wanting to charge, so I replaced the flex cable and it's back to normal although my fingerprint sensor is non-existent now lol..

        • I am gonna miss the uninterrupted front display. Sad … donno why phone makers gave up on that, and the under screen camera.

Heck I would take a phone without front camera to get uninterrupted display! I used selfie cam all…twice in my 3 years of ownership

          • @hippo2s: Me too!! It's just pure bliss having all screen display. I hardly ever use it as well. It's a shame the design didn't inspire future models.

      • f1 user here. pixel experience made it new again

    • Yeah I've had an f3 for about 2 years as well. Still works great, not actually sure what more i would need in a phone.

A better camera (though the main shooter is perfectly usable) / dedicated telephoto would be nice.

Mi 9T Pro here, still going :D

      • I've still been going with my Mi 9T Pro too, still a great phone, i've been waiting for another good bang for buck phone to come out for a while as I notice my 9T Pro battery gradually getting worse after almost 4 years of use. I've caved and grabbed this one for the price, ended up about the same as what I paid for the 9T Pro.

      • Do you guys worry about the lack of security updates? or do you just flash a custom ROM?

        • +1

Honestly, can't say I really worry at all. Just on the stock ROM. Upgrades are usually motiviated by a decent leap in hardware performance.

      • Yup. I just want another popout camera

    • +3

Same- I bought my F3 in Feb 2022 and have loaded CrDroid 9.5 ROM - Lots of customisation, Pixel UI, no adware or bloatware, more available storage space. Performance on par or better than phones double its price. I see these new F5 deals and think… "Do I really need to upgrade?"

      • Sorry yo bother you but could you please share step by step that how to install that?
        Thanks

      • Also has official LineageOS support, which is a good sign for its longevity.

      • CrDroid on the F3 is the best ROM I have ever used on any phone ever, far better than any stock ROM. Things have come a long way over the past five or so years.

  • +1

Slightly cheaper here for the Chinese version. https://www.giztop.com/redmi-note-12-turbo.html and then code JUNE5. With shipping it comes to US$313 so A$460. Not sure about GST though.

    • Also on Aliexpress:
      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005542273383.html

Should be roughly similar prices with SS33 + store codes. I'll add that this variant has higher ram and storage options compared to the F5.

    • generally avoid the redmi version. It's packed full of bloat. Have learned my lesson. The only thing that annoys me with Miui is the default built in media player. Otherwise pretty clean experience with a Poco

      • Just flash the global rom and you'll have the cleaner version. Personally I only buy Xiaomi phones when the custom rom scene is there. Waiting on the Poco F5, development has just started.

        • +4

the whole unlock bootloader and flash some ROM you get from forums… thing? Last time I played with that on a Redmi K20 Pro…you lose Wallet and some banking apps won't run. Plus risk of dodgy ROM and bricking it. I am too old for that nowadays.

    • +3

Would recommend against it as it's missing Band 28A.

    • No B28.

  • Given how happy I am with my Poco F3 8GB/256GB and what I know about the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, this should be an awesome phone for this price

The 7+ Gen 2 is 90%-95% as powerful as the best Android SoC found in the latest Samsung.

Anyone done pay after delivery here?

  • Anyone know if the camera is any good in these?

    • many comparisons on YouTube. have F2 Pro and it's serviceable. Don't expect top tier camera performance at half (or 1/3) of the price.

      • Pixel 7a can probably be had for not much more than this soon and has very good cameras and a warranty.

        • +1

oh no doubt… if photo quality is what you are after. Go pixel! No arguments there. Same if you are after super clean Android, warranty. But a phone to me is more than a camera tho…so many other features on this made it a no brainer. I'm biased tho. 3.5mm, faster charging by far, larger better (more Hz) screen - those things matter more to me than the other things. Different courses for different horses.

          • @hippo2s: I've had a redmi note 10 pro for over two years and its been brilliant, plus other Xiaomi phones before that. Paid around $350 for it which is incredible value for what you get. Once you get above $500 though there are a lot of options and the pixels come into play.

    • +1

Cameras are decent. Would do the job. Don't expect S23 Ultra level performance.

  • Is this etter than an s20 fe5g? (Other than I like the sd card slot in the fe)

Not impressed by Samsung in store, claiming OLED burn in was "physical damage" and required assessment.

    • 2-3 year newer CPU yes, faster ram yes. Camera probably on par (subjective), Dual 5G…67W charging. Yes to me.

    • +3

      Headphone jack yes too
Which is a rarity these days

  • What about warranty? Is it going to be a problem?

    • +1

absolutely. Basically there is no warranty because POCO is not present in Australia.

      • +1

you could post it back… altho no chance of it ever being accepted as arrived on the other end. Credit card insurance claim…maybe.

      • +1

Pretty much the only form of warranty is if you get it from Amazon, as they might allow you to return it to them.

  • +1

The best reason to buy this is the headphone jack+ processor+ the gorgeous display. Wish POCO were selling phones in Australia.

  • Paid $460 delivered for my 12+256 Poco F5 on eBay (used but sold soon after launch day in Aus, likely a review unit).

Flashed Xiaomi.eu, further debloated and using GCam.

It's been flawless. Highly recommended, upgraded from my F3 and the battery life is significantly better, screen is much better and I prefer the shape and weight. Camera is improving as GCams develop and speakers are louder (although have less bass). I also really like the white back design.

    • Are you able to use wallwt and banking apps after flashing ROM?

      • +1

Yes. Only rooting the phone prevents banking apps and gpay.

        • you can flash custom rom without rooting? maybe things have changed….still, i'm not so sure i want to trust custom rom.

          • +1

@hippo2s: Correct. Only need to unlock bootloader to flash ROMs.

Custom ROMs are safe, especially xiaomi.eu which has been around for years

        • +2

Rooted Redmi Note 9 Pro user here and just switched from xiaomi.eu to lineageos after the device reached end of support, and banking apps, (CBA), wallet, and "hey google" all work.

There's nothing that doesn't work when rooted.

          • @sir_bazz: Yeah rooting has never really been an issue with banking and wallet apps as long as you do the necessary things and have the right settings to pass the safetynet etc checks. Though you'll still come across specific ones that can still detect it (for me it's citibank with each new update).

    • +1

So you're the one that outbid me ,😅

    • It has a slot for a memory card on the SIM tray I assume?

      • +1

Non-expandable memory but 256gb is enough for me. There's also 512gb.

  • +3

Still using the poco f3 and it hasn't skipped a beat

    • +2

Me as well, can't justify an upgrade but I am a little jealous of the people buying this.

  • Does this come with a global rom and an AU google play store?

    • +1

It should, altho i don't have it yet to confirm. It should be global miui rom which will have google play store. I have F2 Pro and even that has them.

  • +1

Wish these phones would come with Displayport Alt Mode. Frustrating that it seems to be a high end inclusion.

  • My poco F2 pro lost Telstra VOLTE when updated from Android 10.

    • how would you know when you lost it? or if you've got it? I see the setting and it's on. I am pretty much on 5G or LTE…

      • VOLTE and VOWIFI worked fine for me on my old F3 and new F5, both on MIUI 14. Check your settings.

        https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/activation-of-volte-and-…

        • The problem only appears with Telstra, Optus and Vodafone are OK. I have trawled through many forums, tried many "fixes" but I will have a look at the link here. I am currently running on the stock ROM with MIUI 14.

  • X3 NFC still going strong

  • Hmm still on the f1 and going strong, though the usb-c port is struggling to hold any cables tight these days. Been holding off cause it always felt like a downgrade in terms of features, but is this the go? or maybe the pro?

  • Does this phone support Android Auto?

    • Yes

      • Thanks for your reply. Is it comes with stock or do you need to install it?
