3411

I thought it would be a great idea to re-share this workaround since it’s still much cheaper than Aus membership ($139.99). And with the Turkish lira being even weaker, the price it's even more attractive.

Disney Plus Membership: Monthly TRY₺64,99 (~A$4.12), Yearly TRY₺649,99 (~A$42.21) @ Disney Plus via Turkey (No VPN Req)

Welcome to the ultimate guide of Disney Plus subscriptions

This is a 6 month repost of BG's previous deal and Scrooge's current deal, except you know me and my guides 😏 so read on! Like Netflix, I spent a few bucks out of generosity to test the current validity of the Android method and I've added screenshots to some steps into the instructions where I could so please show some love (I did all of this at 1am 11/06, about two hours before I had to wake up for an offshore fishing trip). I actually discovered something - I was able to use my current personal Google account (the one I use for Youtube Premium Turkey, Google One Turkey) to subscribe to Disney Plus (which I believe was because there was already a Turkey payment profile in the Google account) therefore not requiring to create a new Google account - food for thought for Android users who also have Google One via Turkey.

If you have any questions, concerns or feedback - please comment below!

Note: No VPN needed for this deal. Requires Apple Türkiye ID for iOS signups! Google has been busy cancelling Disney Plus subscriptions done via the Android method over the past few months, so please use the iOS method where possible (it's also much faster if you already have a Turkish Apple ID). There have been no cancellations via the iOS method.

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google Drive, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving over $100 AUD a year.

Note that due to a crash in the Turkish Lira currency over the past week (I mean technically it's always been crashing :P), hitting an all time low, Disney Plus prices are now $10 cheaper than the last Disney Plus post for the annual plan!

As always, credits to Pricebeat for all the Apple ID related knowledge I've gained from his past posts

    Enjoy :)

    Available Plans:

Subscription Plan TR Pricing (TL) AU Conversion (AUD) AU Pricing (AUD) Savings (AUD) % Saving Notes
    Disney Plus Monthly ₺64,99 A$4.12 A$13.99 A$9.87 70.55%
    Disney Plus Yearly ₺649,99 A$41.21 A$139.99 A$98.78 70.56% No brainer!

    Instructions for iOS users

This guide looks extensive (because I try my best to explain it simply for beginners) however if you've done this before then it shouldn't take you more than a few mins (for iOS at least) as you can skip most of these instructions. The sign-up process itself should take no more than 2 minutes.

Part 1 - Turkey Apple ID

If you already have a Turkey Apple ID, proceed to Part 2

If you DO NOT have a Turkey Apple ID:

    1. Create a Turkish Apple ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com/account

    2. Follow the on-screen steps. In the mobile number section, use your Australian mobile number (very important to use a valid mobile number or you risk losing your Turkish Apple ID). Choose the country as Turkey. Then follow through the rest to create your Turkish Apple ID. If it asks for a payment method, select "None".

    3. Login into Apple ID on a browser. Go to this link to enter a Turkish address (you can get a random address here) to your Turkish Apple ID. Select payment method as "none" and save.

Part 2 - Loading your Turkey Apple ID with Turkey Apple Gift Cards

    1. Buy TL (₺) iTunes gift cards (Make sure you only buy Turkish ones, only comes in 25 TRY and 50 TRY denominations) from TurGame > Choose currency as TL/TRY See how and pay with a debit/credit card (use a card that has no international transaction fees to avoid any extra costs). All transaction processors will have a small "Payment Partner Fee" attached - at checkout, choose the one that gives you the smallest fee.

How long will my gift card take to arrive? Turgame processes gift cards in their local timezone. If you're purchasing in the daytime, expect a long wait. If you're purchasing at 6pm onwards, expect a very fast delivery

    2. Go to Settings on your iPhone/iPad > Your Name > Media and Purchases > Log out from your current ID and login with your Turkish Apple ID

    3. Redeem iTunes gift cards by going to App Store > Account (located at right top corner) > Redeem gift cards or code.

Part 3 - Downloading Disney Plus

    1. Download Disney Plus from the app store - see screenshot. If you already have Disney Plus installed, proceed to Part 4

Note: It doesn't matter if you download the app from the Turkey App Store or the Australian App Store. Just get the app however you like.

Part 4 - Subscribing to Disney Plus

    1. Boot up the Disney Plus app and click "sign up" or "log in" - see screenshot

Can I sign up with my Australian Disney Plus account? - Yes! Simply log in (make sure your current subscription, if any, is expired)

    2. Select the plan you want (monthly or yearly - see screenshot) and complete the Apple confirmation prompt to subscribe. Then you’re done! Enjoy your subscription while Apple deducts from your Apple ID Balance as payment each month or each year (if prices increase then Apple will notify you via email ahead of time)

Still seeing Australian prices? Restart your device

    Instructions for Android users

Note: If you currently subscribe to Google One via Turkey, then you may already have a Turkey payment profile in your Google account. If this is the case, you may not need to do Parts 1-3 at all. Simply log into your Google Play Store, and download the "Disney Plus" app. Once downloaded, boot up the app and click "sign up" or "log in" - see screenshot. If it shows pricing in Turkish Lira, you've hit jackpot. Select the plan you want (monthly or yearly - see screenshot) and complete the Google confirmation prompt (see screenshot) to subscribe. Then you’re done! Enjoy your subscription while Google deducts from your debit/credit card as payment each month or each year. At this point, skip the rest of the following instructions and go to sleep while praying for the rest who have to suffer :P

Part 1 - Creating a new Google account

Before starting these steps, make sure you do not have Disney Plus installed on your phone (Android users only). If you do, uninstall it.

    1. Create a new Google account on your phone

    2. Delete your Google Play Store cache. If you don't know how to, please see Google's instructions

    3. Select your new Google account in the Google Play Store app to switch over from your personal account or add it in if it's not there (to do this, click on your top right icon, then click the dropdown next to your account email, then click "Add another account"). Make sure the selected account is your new Google account

    4. Add a new payment method and select "Turkey" as the country (to do this, click on your top right icon again, then click "Payments and Subscriptions", then click "Payment methods"). If needed, use a fake address generator to obtain a random Turkey address for the payment profile.

Part 2 - Downloading Disney Plus

    1. Open Google Chrome or any browser on your phone in an incognito window and then set your browser window from mobile mode to desktop mode

    2. In your browser, search for "Disney Plus Play Store" and click on the one shown in this screenshot or try this link. It should open as a webpage. Do not make it redirect to your Google Play Store app

    3. Press "Install" to remote install Disney Plus into your phone (it will ask you to log in if you haven't already done so - log into the new Google account you just made in Part 1)

Part 3 - Subscribing to Disney Plus

    1. Boot up the Disney Plus app and click "sign up" or "log in" - see screenshot

Can I sign up with my Australian Disney Plus account? - Yes! Simply log in (make sure your current subscription, if any, is expired)

    2. Select the plan you want (monthly or yearly - see screenshot) and complete the Google confirmation prompt (see screenshot) to subscribe. Then you’re done! Enjoy your subscription while Google deducts from your debit/credit card as payment each month or each year.

Amazing detail and information by ISP. As always absolute legend!!!

    • Thanks @I Smell Pennies as usual for taking time to write very clear steps one by one. Legend!

    • Thanks for the awesome steps ISP!

I'm onto part 3 step 1 but unable to subscribe and the only option is to log out :(

Perhaps Disney Plus has made new update to the app to disable the subscribe option?

      • yeah this is happening to me too. I managed to log out and log in on play store and it fixed it, but now when I pay it just says your transaction cannot be completed. tempted to try the apple method but google play is just so much simpler

    • I don't think this works anymore. I followed the steps and when it comes to sign up, the currency is always Australian even after reset.

  • +11

I’ll suggest it again, would be great to have the option to hide reposts just like these just as there is for streaming service additions.

To be clear, those who want to see reposts of the same deals over and over again would continue to. It would be an optional opt-in.

    • +3

      That's a great idea.

      • +8

Not sure why I keep getting voted down got suggesting it…

        • +5

I didn't downvote you. I think it's a great idea. Gives people the option, which it's always good.

        • +3

          Agree. I’ve given you a +1, it’s just an opinion/suggestion and isn’t a bad one at that.

    • +9

[Repost] tag in title would be great. Similar to the [Subs] tag.

    • +26

Would it be just as easy to not click on this post like you wouldn't click on others that you're not interested in? Genuine questing, didn't down vote you.

      • -8

Takes up scroll space. In a universe where it’s the final stocked bargain on a deal, OP doesn’t want to be slowed down by reposts/streaming deals.

        • +14

Yes saving that split second of scrolling past a deal that appears once every couple of months will definately improve one's quality of life.

          • -3

            @Trishool: 1 minute over a Lifetime? It adds up…

            • @fastnbulbous: You would spend more time all up figuring out how to untick the box, and how long would the person programming it spend.
It's not really a frequent occurrence. If you get to opt out of this I want to opt out of phone deals.

          • +1

@Trishool: Forgot the /s there, my bad. The downvotes though 😂

          • @Trishool: Once every 6 months at that! Must be a very long and time consuming split second for some 🙄

    • @sween64 @PainToad @GeneralSkunk

Have made a fourm post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/780787

You can now buy higher value Apple gift cards from TurGame. Better than purchasing 13 times TRY 50 cards. I bought a TRY 1000 one the other day. Came through to my email in a few hours.

  • +24

I did the above workaround a few months ago and Disney cancelled my account. Thing they've been cracking down a wee bit.

    • Me too, and many others. Weirdly wouldn't let me resign up for a year, but I've been fine month to month for $4 and change since, I'd try again if I were you.

    • Ios or android?

    • +2

I’m not a streamer but I’d guess they are looking at the location of IP addresses accessing the service when using a Turkish account. Might be worth using a VPN with Turkey as the endpoint? At least every now and then to screw up their filter search.

    • Thanks for the heads up, I was about to sign up.

Streaming services are becoming harder and more expensive all around!

  • +17

Many of us got our account cancelled after ~9/10 months with this method. Not sure I want to risk getting more than a month subscription.

    • +2

yeah. mine was cancelled as well.

    • +2

Same, but didnt we get a full refund as well or am i dreaming that

      • +1

        No refund

        • +2

          I got a full refund

          • +2

@denserham: Full refund here as well, which essentially worked out to 10 free months. I then rescrubscribed at this price. All clear so far.

        • +1

I received a full refund as well. Didn't bother resubscribing.

      • +2

Yep, mine got cancelled after 8 months but got full refund (only lost a bit due to the lira lost value).

Managed to sign up with same account and same creditcard a few days later again.

    • +3

Cancelled as well. No refund on remaining months. Wouldn’t recommend.

    • Android or iOS ?

    • +2

and many of us got a refund, rendering the 9-10 months free. Would definitely risk it again.

    • Why? Didn't you get refunded? I got refunded in full after 9/10 months and have been using the same method again for months with no issue.

      • +1

Not sure why but no didn't get any refund :(

  • A$42 seems cheaper than last post (not the first post)

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/744525

    • The TRY has nosedived again since, better FX rate compared to the past (better for us >:))

      • +1

RBA increasing interest rate seems like a good idea now… Compared what the TRY govt is doing to their currency.

        • Yes, the RBA raising interest rates will fix those darned corporate profit rates.

Not worth it if people are having their accounts cancelled. Is monthly an option?

We got full refund and can re-subscribe again.

      • +1

Right. Someone above said they didn't get a refund of remaining months lol.

        • +2

Check the previous post. Almost everyone that was canceled after 10 months got a full refund via Google Pay

      • +2

We didn't get any refund but it was still very cheap for 9ish months

        • I had a card that i cancelled then got a message from Google saying they couldn't refund and to update payment details so they could refund the money.

    • I have been going the monthly option!
I don't mind paying a lot less monthly than knowing a yrly one is risking getting cancelled with no refunds.
No issues for me since they cancelled my last annual plan.

      • What's the average monthly price been when converted to AUD lately?

        • I paid Aud$5.22 last month incl Aud$0.15 fee. Will be cheaper this mth at Aud$4+ this mth

          • @revivor: For premium? And are you paying with gift cards?

            • @Repstar: Premium for Disney? Are you talking about Netflix? I'm paying Disney Turkey on a monthly plan.
I'm just using my debit card to pay.

              • @revivor: ok thanks. Sorry read somewhere they have a basic and premium plan. Yes Disney.

              • @revivor: How are you paying by card? Just declines for me. Would prefer card over gift cards. Cheers

                • @Repstar: I’m using a card different to the one that was refunded previously. I didn’t try that card suspecting they may have blocked that card.
Try with another card and make sure you’re subscribed via the Google turkey acct method where the payments will show as TRYx.xx

Mine got cancelled but i just got onto online chat with disney and used google translate to complain in Turkish until they reinstated it and gave me extra 3 months as apology

    • Does ChatGPT do translation?

      Username checks out 😉

    • -4

      Mine got cancelled

      So did you get refunded?

      • +5

They literally said what they did and what they got in the sentence containing those words you are asking about

        • -3

It's still a valid question, whether a refund came through as part of the initial cancellation

          • @darkly: Yes, this is what I mean, we don't need to do anything and received full refund.

they reinstated it and gave me extra 3 months as apology

Didn't mention whether received auto full refund like us, is it received refund + 3 months extra?

            • @superforever: No refund that i was aware of, but i had paid for the year with a prepaid mastercard that i had long since binned. Still happy with the outcome though

Just signup to a month to month subscription instead of 12 months just in case if you get cut out by Disney anytime during the 12 month period. Any left over TL's can then be used to fund other monthly subscriptions such as Netflix, Apple Music etc.

    • Hi would you like to go half if possible.

  • It’s not Turkey anymore!

  • I signed up last time for the yearly sub and they randomly cancelled my sub and refunded the money into my wise account 9 months in.

  • I am not sure if its worth it. Got it for kids during Christmas holidays and they onlybused to watch one movie and then moved onto Netflix.

    • We subscribe every few months for the new shows to catch up. Then get a monthly to watch the new episodes etc then cancel for a few mths and repeat.

    • Same. Got free 12 months via Telstra. Barely watched it

      • how did you get 12 months free?

        • Came free with a Telstra 5g home internet I had

    Currently saving $700+ pa because of;
Adobe Creative Cloud, Netflix, DisneyPlus, Spotify, YT Premium, 2TB Google One Storage, Apple Music and probably more.

Did buy 75 movies off Apple TV using @Pricebeat Apple TV Turkey idea, saved A$1250+ alone on it.

This would've been a good deal, but now that I've been preached about plex I'm a changed man. I see the light.

    • Care to share? Kodi and Stremio I use, plex wasn’t for me, but it’s been a while.

      • +1

I'm just hearing about Kodi and Stremio. But my bounty from life in the high seas is readily accessible anywhere by the magic of plex, so I'm happy with it. Not sure if there are alternatives with better UI experience, but for something that costs me as much as the electricity to have my mac on sleep, I really can't complaint

        • Thanks for the reply.
I thought plex had brought something new to the table and I’d missed it.
          It hasn’t.
I can’t comment on the UI side, plex never fit my use case so I never looked any further into it.
I’ve only just started using kodi as VLC on android is very basic and after many years I just wanted a bit more, like longer pausing.

          • @Pred8r: Not sure what you mean by 'longer pausing' but look up Jellyfin. Supposedly better than Plex and all free to use, can't vouch for it as Plex does whatever I want it to.

Also, Google Sonarr/Radarr/Prowlarr. Check youtube vid on how to setup as it appears a bit daunting at first but it'll change your life.

      • Same. Everytime I try PLEX again is like going back to a bandage mistress I forgot to pay.

  • I did the above workaround, lasted for 6 months then Disney cancelled my account and refunded the full money back around ~$27 AUD

  • If you change your country in Google Play, can you no longer download Australian apps? i.e. if Service NSW puts out a new app, would you be able to download it?

    • thats the one main downside, AUS regsion locked apps will no longer show up in the playstore. You'll have to sideload it with APKs you download separately

    • +4

You can have multiple google accounts logged in. Just switch to an Australian account if you need to download Australian apps.

  • Can't login back to my iCloud Turkey account saying incorrect password (pretty sure I put in the one I noted) and now have to wait 12 days recovering the account. Anyone else has experienced this?

  • Can we sign in using a smart tv with the same account?
