Canola (rapeseed oil) is also a good option
(The only use i'd have for it)

      Are you feeling ok?? Lmao

    • That is all i use
A lot healthier if you plan to BBQ/smoke with the wood

    • May as well just go to cheap Palm oil or Vegetable oil if you are already down there with Canola

What planet you guys on. It is for chainsaws, not for human consumption

The good ol' fashioned way is to use sump oil - it's a waste product and won't cost you anything.

In reality though, chainsaw oil is far stickier and doesn't get flung off as easily. That 4l of chain oil will last much longer than 4l of canola or sump oil, even with the oil feed set correctly (and if you change what oil you're using, you will need to adjust the oil feed).

      • Do you mean from your car? Are there any issues with the saw burning the oil or gunking up?

Yep, from a car. Sump oil is usually thinner (unless you have an older car) so it feeds quicker, but it's also thrown off more since it's not as sticky. You might get more build-up under the sprocket cover just because more is thrown off, but there's not a huge difference. It's also a little messier as the oil is dark (since it's used). But otherwise, no noticable difference.

          • @Spam Service: Might give it a go. I've got litres of the stuff waiting to be disposed of. Thanks!
