    Great card

  • How about international transactions?

    • 3.4%

    • -5

Commbank step pay don't charge anything for international transactions.

  • 0% p.a. for 14 months on balance transfers
    (no balance transfer fee applies)
    Reverts to cash advance rate.x

    wow that's a good deal

    • Let's say your credit limit is 10k, and your balance transfer is 8k, do we pay interest component on the 2k, if there's any spending on top?

      • Yes u do. There is no interest free period on the $2k.

  • Does $3000 elsewhere mean I can just use the card for anything to reach the 3k spend ?

  • +5

    Shit company, great card.

At least for people that don’t travel often or care about frequent flyer/velocity etc.
Any rewards program on a no annual fee card is rare (I think this is the only one?). I put most spending through this and rack up enough points to cover random gifts and purchases from kogan throughout the year.

    • +2

Amex Essential Card has rewards too

    • Coles

    • Its a nab card (kogan branded).

Will show up as nab on credit file

      • you mean IT is citi branded (owned by NAB now) ?

        • Yep

        • Could be resell from NAB product like some tier 2,3 insurers resell tier 1 insurers’ products

    • +1

I have used my money on some really necessary stuff, bought range hoods, new taps, motorcycle battery, ceiling fans, only toy I bought was a Sega genesis mini but that was great and was the cheapest ever price at the time. There's heaps of junk on kogan but no one is making people buy it

  • How easy/difficult is it to get approved?

    • +5

I applied for this about 4 weeks ago with a 6k limit and was instantly knocked back. Me and my wife have never been knocked back on any line of credit, we've had black cards with 25k limits and have always held one or more credit cards at a time. Just based on my application, expenses including mortgage etc were around 20% of my income so no idea why it was rejected.

Strangely I was also knocked back the next day when I applied for a Suncorp platinum card (their cards also underwritten by NAB just like the Kogan ones). I rang Suncorp and asked why I was knocked back as its very unusual, they instantly told me theirs been an issue where they've been auto rejecting. Unsure if this is what happened to me with the Kogan one but seems related.

Anyway, two days later and Suncorp approved me and Im currently churning their card ($500 worth of giftcards with 3k spend in 90 days, but with a $99 fee)

      • +1

I was rejected very quickly for the same Suncorp card. I should have contacted them like you, I think too late, a few weeks ago. I was very surprised.

      • +1

kogan, suncorp, virgin, et al are all (citibank) now NAB white label products

would all use the same credit approval processes…..so shit tier

funny enough however NABs own label credit cards are fine

      • +1

Did you have a NAB/Citi card before applying for the Kogan & Suncorp cards. I wonder if you got the auto-reject because of that.

        • no, not because of that. I was left plenty money in my citi bank account, still got rejected for no reason, never got any rejected application before Kogan. credit score is excellent at 826

      • Same here, no issue with Westpac, ANZ, St George..

    • got the approval in 3-4 days. applied last time when there was an offer for $400 kogan credit. took the 0% BT for 14 months n never use that card for regular purchases.

      • So you won’t get $400 by not spending?

      • Keen to know. I want to take BT but how can you get kogan credit without purchase?

        • If you spend then pay it off immediately it should pay off the spending first, but check pds

    • I got approved in less than 24hrs for 30k limit. LOL

Just Transfering 3k from an Amex..

    • I already had Citi premier, Citi prestige and Citi ready credit.
Applied this morning and approved within 3 hours.
But probably will depend on your situation.

  • +1

Too bad you can't churn this even after a nominal 12-18 month waiting period like most other card issuers. Oh well.

    • But theres no annual fee, someone else mentioned its one of the cards to use in between churning.

    • What do you mean by churn? You mean leave and come back? I left this card about a year or so ago and at the time I was told I can by their support person (who maybe can't be trusted)

      • They have updated their policy as of about a year ago and you can no longer get the sign on bonus by leaving and coming back.

        • +1

ok but does that affect people that were there the year before? or just from then on? There's definitely one way to find out…

          • @Jackson: I assume it would because the policy is applicable and checked on sign up, not on exit.

    • Can get the card again, just no bonus.
Tweak your address etc and might get away with it.

  • Think the balance transfer period is 12 months, not 14.

    0% p.a. on purchases for 14 months
Reverts to ongoing purchase rate. Pay zero interest on purchases for 14 months from card approval

I can't see any reference to this on the site? All I can see is up to 55 days interest free on retail purchases. Not sure if I'm just dopey or if it has changed since last time it was posted.

    • +1

      I'll change it to 12

      • Still seems like a good card, just wondering if I have enough expenses to churn it with the other one that should be here any day now hmm.

  • +3

Just be aware dealing with the Admin on this card is an absolute pain in the arse.
Shitty App, no Call Center, when you ask to cancel they will not cancel and claim you kept the card beyond the Annual Fee renewal date.
You can get around all this, I'm just saying be aware.

    • +4

      No annual fee, so….

Other points are valid for sure.

    • +5

You can get around all this, I'm just saying be aware.

      how ??
Wouldn't it be nice if you share how with it too ?? rather than just commenting it as a disaster

      • +1

"I'm just saying be aware. It could be a disaster. There is a way to get around all this disaster that I am warning you about but I am not telling you how."

      • I'm going to assume he meant to say that it's crap because of those reasons, but if you can live with that and battle through those issues then it's alright, not that there's a secret tip to have a better app or somehow get better customer service.

    • Always if you dealing with Citibank unfortunately. They like to play hard ball.

    • Legally they have to provide a way to cancel the card online

    • I was able to speak to someone in chat and in the phone earlier in the week.

I was able to get hold of someone within 5 minutes (in the middle of the day)

  • +2

The bump up in min speed is way too much! Was $1500 last time when the credit on offer was $500.

    • +15

Luckily due to inflation you can buy the exact same things for 3k that used to cost 1.5!

  • †To be eligible to receive the $500 Kogan.com Credit, you must apply for a new Kogan Money Credit Card by 15 June 2023, then spend $3,000 or more on eligible purchases using your new card within 90 days from approval. • Would $3k purchase of Woolworths eGift cards be eligible?
I don't see gift cards in that exclusion list.

      • Just buy them at Woolies

  • +2

0% p.a. for 12 months on balance transfers
    (no balance transfer fee applies)
Reverts to cash advance rate. No interest free days on retail purchases apply while you have a balance transfer

Nice to have $0 balance transfer and $0 annual fee. But will need to pay interest for purchase for $500 kogan credit.

  • We can pay for flight tickets, pay for Airbnb/hotels etc for the $3000?

    • +3

or post something in ebay n ask ur friend/partner to buy the product using this card. ebay has 0% final value offer going on.

      • How does this offer work? Any links pls

      • -4

Not sure how you expect to do this, since its $500 kogan credit…

      • Professional

    • Its really not that hard to spend $3000, technically speaking you spend $3000 even on basics like Bpay payments, internet bills, insurances, car/bike registrations, fines, taxes, and what not

      • Is bpay eligible? My 2 months rent is more than 3k.

        • Only pros know how to get around that restriction
          Short answer - Indirectly yes

          • @USER DC: Please explain! Is it via sniip or similar?

            • @leeroys_dad: you indirectly spend the money using the your CC.

              So
              1. you buy another Credit line or Prepaid card, (pay balance using Kogan CC)
              2. Pay for the $3000 (exclusion categories like Rent/ATO/rego etc) or whatever charge you want using that 1. Credit line or Prepaid Card

its been mentioned multiple times, you should know the credit line I am referring to. Recently had a bannger Boost mobile cashback deals
prepaid cards may need to be visa/mastercard or eftpos for you to use them at your desired place.

        • It doesn't specifically say it isn't included.. hopefully someone has experienced before and can comment

          • @notauser: Its not really worth taking such a risk is it ?
given how easy is it to totally avoid this

  • Has anyone ever had an issue spending their bonus credit and rewards points together?

I bought a couple of things using the bonus credit and it was fine, but when i tried to use the last of my credit and pay the balance of my cart with my credit card rewards points i get this error:

    “PAYMENT FAILED

Your conversion has exceeded the maximum Points allowed per day.“

I’ve tried again on following days and keep getting the same error. I contacted customer support and got what seems like a canned response after days.

“Our website uses a complex verification process to prevent unauthorized purchases, and it looks like the multiple attempts to place this order has caused your payment details to be flagged in our system.

Unfortunately, in this instance, we are unable to process payment using any cards with which you have already attempted payment.

If you wish to proceed with your purchase, you will need to use PayPal as the payment method, as their verification systems are separate from ours.”

I responded that there’s no payment method to verify as I’m using credits and points only and I’ve been waiting days for a response again.

    • +1

I've had this card for about 18 months now. I actually got this error a few days ago when trying you redeem some points on a purchase via the Kogan app.

Wasn't a huge amount (~$60) so it didn't make sense. I've also never seen this error before and I've redeemed ~$750 worth of points in one hit previously, so I'm not aware of any daily cap.

I retried my purchase via the Kogan website and it went through without a problem, so maybe give that a go?

I reported the issue to Kogan support but got no response.

      • +1

Checking out on the website worked! Thanks, legend.

        • +1

No worries man. Glad it worked.

  • +1

Great card, super easy to close it as well, just few clicks from their website.
I'm churning to other cards but will get it under my wife's name soon.

  • Had this over 3 years ago. Still eligible?

  • +2

Kogan sells Steam Decks, great bonus if you're after one

    • +1

My plan for the last 2 months!

    • +1

I must be behind the times. Thought it was some sort of a special popular mop until I just looked it up lol

  • I had it for a while. I liked how they emailed you a couple of days beforehand to remind you a payment was due.

  • Any chance i can avail this as recently closed my kogan card.

    • "If you have previously held a Kogan Money Credit Card, you will not be eligible for this offer"

  • Does it has any international travel insurance like other cards? I cannot see any info on it in text…

  • +1

Can't churn unfortunately, have taken this out twice before they put the restriction on.
    Great card anyhow.

  • Just a question on card churning in general:

How do you guys deal with them contacting your employer to verify employment for each card?

    • +1

AFAIK - I've never had them contact my employer.

      • Btw - applied this morning and fully approved 3 hours later (Kogan first already activated on account).
They would need to be very efficient to contact your employer in such timeframe.

      • hmm..I must be very unlucky then.

Only started doing this recently with the Suncorp card and they called my company asking if I work there.

Hope that's the exception and not the rule!

        • Suncorp is the only credit card provider where they have you fill in the phone details for your employer. My thoughts are that generally other banks would not bother contacting HR unless you had only worked a very short time at your current job.

    • Yeah I don't think that's ever happened for me. They have always been satisfied with just my income statements to prove my income.

  • NAB keeps on giving with Citi prestige, Citi premier, Citi ready credit and now Kogan.
Surprisingly my credit score increased again …

  • Hoping someone can help me out cause I'm struggling to find how long the points last? I can see in the TCs that the bonus lasts 12 months but is that ongoing with the other points accrued?
    Cheers

  • How does the balance transfer work? Do you they just deposit you the money? Would it be possible to just bank it and collect interest for 12 months?

  • Can I pay home loan EMI with this card?

  • how long does the credit expire?

can i use it to buy kogan mobile sim? thanks!

    • The Kogan.com Credit will be credited to your Kogan.com account up to 10 weeks after the end of the qualifying period, and will expire 12 months from the date it is applied.

      • thanks. yeah found that info.

  • Hello guys, what can we purchase with $500 Kogan credits?

Can I get woolies gift cards or some master/visa card or have to purchase something from kogan.com?

    Thank you

  • Interesting, got my approval only last week, but already got a statement.
Got 0 points for a few hundred $ spent via Liven and also 0 points for spend via tap and pay in store … I thought this would be part of eligible spend though.

    • Update: I contacted support and points have now been added to the app.
