Can we still join if the course itself only has 3 days left? Do we only get 3 days to do the exam questions then? Would love to do the pharm course, get some of that there CV points.

    • +1

You will have missed out on all the assignments which form part of the weighted score and you might not pass the exam if you haven't watched the lectures. Unless you know the subject well in which case why do you need to take it. As mentioned elsewhere, the certificate is not official.

really? i listen to tunein everyday, should be expert by now

That's how crap the music is.. takes you that long to appreciate it

    Gamification

Uh-oh, that didn't end well for Bruce Banner! :o

    • +2

      damn gamma rays.

    • +1

Too bag it's nothing to do with Gamma Rays or Radiation.

On a related note I just signed up to the Gamification course. Sounds interesting

    • There is a big push for Gam(e)ification in education at the moment with a lot of teachers using the principles in their classroom.

This nerd talks about it on TED http://www.ted.com/talks/seth_priebatsch_the_game_layer_on_t…

      • +1

Just watched the intro video for the Gamification course - they used a tacky green screen and stuck him in front of a disproportionate background of books? Dodgy from the get go. Do they use comic sans for the certificate font?

  • Sounds interesting. Not everyone can claim they went to Princeton or Stanford.

But what happens if you're naughty and don't do your homework?

    • +2

You get a lousy score, that's all.

    • +3

      You'd get DDoS'd by Anonymous.

  • Was just about to post this. Good work!

  • this is great, thanks for bringing it to my attention!

  • +8

    Principles of Obesity Economics

    sounds good.

  • Awesome! I just enrolled in Gamification. Looking forward to it. Thanks OP for this - had no idea it existed!

    • Check out the link I posted above re: gamification. You might find it interesting/inspiring :)

  • +15

Not sure why, but I'm drawn towards this one:

It would be a bonus if they included language courses like French, German etc..
    Anyway this is great!

    • +1

      Have you looked at http://duolingo.com

      • Not yet, thanks for the link.

  • +3

    Contraception: Choices, Culture and Consequences

    Hmm…

    • +6

I learnt the consequences the hard way :S

    • The lady lecturer says in the intro video the knowledge is meant for your own use… :>

      • I do believe knowledge is meant to advance mankind.

  • THUMBS UP: If you scrolled down this far…

    • +17

      this is not youtube, dude

    • -1

For a second i thought that l in your name was a c

    • +3

Thumbs up if you're looking at this page in 2012, lol

      • Na bro I'm reading it at 1500BC on my iStone :P

        Youtube comments are the worst!

  • it seems certificates can be gained after completion, but
"Students who successfully complete the class will receive a statement of accomplishment signed by the instructor."
they seems are all signed by instructors…?
Even though, it is a good way to learn more~!!!

    • +2

The certificate is just a computer generated PDF with a scanned image of the instructor's signature. Some of these courses can have tens of thousands of students worldwide. (Most of whom quietly drop out after discovering that the time demands and deadlines clashed with real life.) You didn't think someone would sit and sign 10,000 pieces of paper did you?

      • no, of couse i didnt.
What i mean is the certificates are not approved by Universities~? but i think they have "XXX University" under the name of instructor.

        • +1

The certificate is not an official University document, just a statement from so and so who is an instructor at such and such a Uni that someone completed the online course.

        • i see. thx :)

  • do you get certificate of completion afterwards?

    oops…didn't see above comments

  • -1

for the "A History of the World since 1300" it says:

Does Princeton award credentials or reports regarding my work in this course?

No certificates, statements of accomplishment, or other credentials will be awarded in connection with this course.

    So u get nothing?

    • +32

      u get knowledge

      • +2

        +1

      • Right to the point.

    • Actually this is the one that got me interested.

Learn a little more about history, without the pain.

Edit: just signed up. Can't make sense of this world - maybe past worlds are a little easier on the brain.

  • Post needs cliffs.

  • Thanks very much for this OP, appreciate it :)

  • -2

since coursera courses have always been free, perhaps this should be posted in the forums rather than as a deal?

  • "Functional Programming Principles in Scala" is taught by the creator of Scala, Martin Odersky. I'm totally taking this one!

  • Where is the mathematics of quantum neutrino fields course?

    • That's exactly what i thought brother.

      • Only available at the Mars campus…
