it is as safe as a knife or any other power tools you use around the house.

so it depends on the person using it.

Perfect and handy tool for pruning and trimming trees effortlessly. and can't heap enough praise for this magical marvel.

      100% agree

    • how about pruning say gardenias and hedges?

I've got the 4" one and haven't lost any fingers yet, but it's starting to cut out intermittently. It has done heaps of work so I am happy with it for the price.

Was gonna go for the 6" but noticed the reduced power rating vs the 4". I would imagine they are the same motor though and they just picked a random number for the specs right?

    That's a cute chainsaw…..

  • This code could not applied on 4"?

    • I managed to do it just now.
Click on 'proceed to checkout' not the paypal button (you can choose paypal later).
Admittedly I had to try applying the code twice, but it worked in the end.

Any suggestion to get deal on battery ?

    • +1

You can get a similar kit with 2 batteries on eBay, was using mine today.

  • +13

For this price I think not too bad and it could have its use. But I just want to share a heads-up: if the chain were to break, it breaks most likely at the furthest end of the bar where the chain takes a 180° turn. That's why the protective cover MUST be long enough to cover at the tip. (for example) Obviously whoever desgined this Makita accent copycat didn't get this, instead just mimicking without knowing why or how the length of the cover is determined. So if you want to buy this for some light backyard jobs (of course you can!) Be very careful and make sure you have goggles on.

      • Chain brake/hand guard hopefully catches it

    • Guard is for kickback, stops you hitting your forehead. Larger chainsaw require the use of two hands so the top hand hits the chain break actuator/guard before hitting your forehead.

  • +3

I have an identical one, was around $40 on ebay, 2 batteries and a case. The paint job on the bar was less sketchy.
Was great for a small backyard project, the safely is pretty basic, need to plan ahead and treat it like a rabbis dog.

For what I paid, fantastic so far.

  • Similar deal was here but out of stock at present. I would be reluctant to buy skin only products unless you have the right battery

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/776160

    • this better deal
comes with more parts and 2 batteries

  • +4

I have one from the previous deal. It works well and overall happy. Also mine came with the batteries. As per Sabric's link above.

    BUT

    1. There is no oiler with this, unlike normal chainsaws, so the chain is not being lubricated as it runs.
    2. The instructions do not (from what I could see) give any instructions on how to fit the guard. This maybe a problem for some, working out how to fit especially with the spring.

    AND

It's very easy to work with one hand and its light to use. That can be a safety issue, as its easier to overextend yourself cutting that last far away branch etc. BE very careful as its a chain saw, and while it might not cut your whole limb off that quickly, it can do serious damage and a finger would be so easy for it to cut off.

Not being anti or an alarmist, I just noticed at one time my left hand got close to the chain when cutting. A wakeup call for me.

    Otherwise enjoy.

As someone who has lost part of a finger to a dropsaw the answer to keeping yourself safe with one of these is to keep your feet firmly on the ground and your other somewhere else when you use this.

When I'm using my dropsaw now I grab the belt at the back of my pants, but in your pocket would also be ok.

  • Don't think I can trust an unknown brand chainsaw from Banggood…

    • besides xiaomi
most of the stuff on banggood is unknown brands

  • No thanks, love me fingers

  • Went to purchase, coupon code doesn't work for the 4" one so I went to purchase the 6". Code works but I still get charged shipping so it actually comes to $37.

  • +1

While this may look cheap and appealing deal, I would strongly suggest that people think long before they get a tool like this. It's way too easy for a child to do something stupid with this. Also, as someone mentioned in the comments, a one hand chainsaw is not a good idea for the other hand. The problem is that people who haven't used chainsaws before will only find this out the hard way. A chainsaw is held down with two two hands for safety.
Handsaw is much safer for this size.

    • +2

This is a pruning chainsaw, it's roughly the size of a nintendo switch screen for the actual cutting surface

The safety is either on or off, unlike the Ryobi ONE+ Brushless Pruning Saw which you have to push down the safety to engage (it will pop back out after use forcing you to press the safety again if you want to turn it on).

A bit of a pain to use the crappy wrench to reseat the chain when needed (and lube up), but for it's price, can't complain

  • +1

These things have trigger locks and are nowhere as powerful as a normal chainsaw , when not in use much safer than a sharp kitchen knife, very useful for branches upto 2 inch diameter.I have had one for 4 years..not the same model but uses a makita battery. No child should be handling a power tool to begin with ..I am not sure why safety is an issue with this product..not for me..but I suppose to each their own. In my experience ..a very useful tool..wont be surprised if the biggies come out with a similar product

I have one of these which came with 2 batteries. Very good, would recommend. I use them to cut our palm trees to small sections to put in our green bin. So much easier than cutting with hand saw or axe.

Cons: need to manually apply chain oil frequently. The chain gets a little loose every time after a bit of cutting.

    • Chain loosens as it warms up, this is normal and should be tightened biting use and loosened when finished.

  • +4

I bought one of these, they are dangerous af!
    I nearly lost my pinky.

    • how did it occur?

Guess it occurred due to the lack of brain.

As an arborist I really would recommend a hand pull saw than this .
This is what we use in the trees for small/medium size branches and are a lot lighter and easier to use than any mechanical device , and a shitload safer than these toys .
Search Silky , they are Japanese made laser cut pull saws that will cost a little more 3x than this but will most likely last your lifetime.

For Those that don’t know the KISS principle :
    Keep It Simple Stupid

Edit. Just looked at prices re. Silky saws can still get the cheaper version “Gomboy” folding saws for $57 or so and probably ok for those without some muscle
But what I recommend is the Silky “Zubat” large tooth saw .
on eBay is now $100 for 300mm or $112 for 330mm for big boys .

  • As a professional DYI arborist, I would happily recommend these saws. Keep them lubed and buy a spare chain. I've cut down a massive conifer pine looking tree using one and take it camping. Super handy and gets through logs with suprising ease.

  • Bought this one last year, a bit more expensive, top performer, no regrets.

Stay away from Banggood, they were selling me faulty product then asked to pay shipping fee to China even they shipped it initial from Sydney warehouse.

I will never buy anything from them again.

  • On the 800w model, one of the pictures mentions: 10000 RMP! hah
