    Power pruner 5.0AH kit. https://nrby.in/bunnings/0634152
cheap as, do i need it tho

    • Between that power pruner and this https://www.bunnings.com.au/dewalt-18v-xr-brushless-atomic-r…, if I could only have one, which should I have? I purchased it 3 months ago, and haven't used
      Thanks

If you're an avid gardener and have a lot of pruning to do regularly, then the pruning tool would be a good fit.

I would without any doubt say the reciprocating saw is a more generally useful tool. You can prune with it, but you can also cut anything else with it - entire branches, tree roots, PVC, metal, troublesome neighbours who just don't stop not minding their own business, anything at all if you buy the right blade.

if you use the manual pruner alot, then it's definitely worth it.
I got one a few months ago and it's been great.

    • I have the Ozito pruner and it's fantastic. The Dewalt is only going to be better as it has 38mm cut capacity compared to the 25mm on mine. Plus it will be better quality of build etc.

    • If they had a pole mounted one that would be amazing. A friend has a shrub they trim but has to do it rather dodgily from the top of a step ladder.

Ugh so tempted but I've been hanging out for a decent price on the Dewalt pole hedge trimmer.

    • damn me too. think im gonna bite the bullet and just buy from Sydney tools full price.
Comes with battery redemption at least.

I've used these on the yard work simulator, they're good.

  • Bought one of these last week. Did a decent job and is pretty good value for a 5ah battery.

It didn't feel like it had the same power as my mates 18v Makita one (unsure of model), but I haven't used them side-by-side

    • Yes. was gonna say… my dewalt ones was a pain to use…. used my mates makita and I was converted and bought one. I have mixed bags of tools (milwauke, mostly dewalt and some makita). Battery adapters have been a game changer for me and have not have any issues for several years.

      • Do you need a different adapter for each brand or is there some sort of universal adapter? The ones I've seen are pretty expensive so I just keep buying overpriced Dewalt tools.

      • I love the Flexvolt batteries (18/54V) from Dewalt, as you can use them in everything from over the years and most of the Dewalt stuff is really good. I did buy the fantastic 40V Makita plunge saw only to find that most of the Makita range still uses 18V and can't use these batteries. I'm not keen to get any further into Makita because of this.

  • Power Pruner has been cheaper before: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/886561

You can also try your luck getting a Yardworx pricematch: https://www.yardworx.com.au/product/dewalt-18v-xr-power-prun…

    • looking at the locations, yardworx may not exists in a few hours

  • We have a 40m long 1.8m high hedge, and have been using this Ryobi OHT1850X https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61qShCT8S6L._AC_SL1500_.jpg (seems to be end-of-life since long). Ergonomically, it's good - very easy to cut the side and the top of the hedge. However, it's old, and not powerful enough.

I couldn't find anything with a similar design as that from Dewalt or Ryobi now. Is the one in OP's good for my hedge?

    Thanks

@revheadgl :O - Are you jumping from Ozito?

    • +2

Haha, No. I am actually about 50% Makita, 30% Ozito and 20% Ryobi.

I don't often buy anything from my own tool deal posts anyway, as I am fortunate enough to have pretty much everything I want, So far,…. lol.

Edit; After posting this, I started thinking about it, so I went and counted, its actually more like 40% Makita with just a few more than Ozito at 40% and 20% Ryobi.

  • Quite a few of the DeWalt cordless kits are at good prices. I think these drill/driver kits are better value at $415 than the $256 one as it has 2x5.0Ah batteries. They are $499 everywhere else currently:
    DeWalt branded DCD805 Hammer Drill + DCF850 Impact Driver + 2x5.0Ah + charger
    McLaren branded DCD805 Hammer Drill + DCF850 Impact Driver + 2x5.0Ah + charger

Edit: Nope, cheaper at Total Tools at $449 with the current promo ($50 bonus dollars)
