These small handheld chainsaws have been popular over the years at Banggood and with the coupon this drops to a low price with 2 batteries. If you're just after the skin then the price becomes US$14.40 (~A$21.80) so I recommend picking up the 2 batteries for a little bit more.

Obviously at 6" you'd be stupid trying to stick this into a big ass tree. Instead it's more suitable for pruning and handing smaller branches and trees. This one is brushless with multiple speeds, has a bar guard and hand guard for added protection and it's compatible with 18V Makita batteries.

Woops wrong digit. If only the exchange rate was that good.

      • Hahaha if only! Thanks for the awesome deal mate.

  • $37.60
    Not complaining, just sharing

    These are great.

My mum uses one to cut firewood and to prune trees.

They laugh at normal branches, and even manage to struggle through stuff as thick as your forearm.

    Highly recommend.

  • Are replacement chains easy to come by?

    • +1

Just get your local chainsaw shop to make one up to spec. They sell it by the link (cm?)

    • 2 for $15 on ebay

  • I got one of these. It's a lottery as to whether you'll lose a finger or 3 or an eye. It looks fun though

    • After seeing so many missing parts, nm. Oh well.

  • Wouldn’t trust a chinese quality control battery to not catch my house on fire.

    Hell no.

Good thing the deal says you can get it without batteries and use Makita batteries instead.

      • Review stated they tried Makita in it with a bad outcome. It's cheap, but QC is looks nonexistent & CS seems unresponsive to the 1-3 stars. Good luck to those that take the plunge.

        • +1

          Yes, good luck.

Its LiIon not LiPo, just basic recycled 18650's with a charge controller you'd find on any common laptop.

Being metal cells are safer than most phone batteries. They smoke out rather than flame out if things go wrong.

Mine had Sanyo cells in it.

Can’t speak for this model, but I love my similar unit from this deal www.ozbargain.com.au/node/764632

Pruning, 100mm privets and cutting anything less than 15cm to size for binning works fantastic. So easy to use atop a ladder or fence to the point that my extension trimmer has been almost retired. About the only thing that doesn’t thrill me is the lack of a hand guard on mine (since it really is easy to cut a swathe one handed, to the point I wonder how much damage it could do in careless hands), but this one has that covered as well.

  • Are the batteries safe? With the fire warnings in the local news from shoddy batteries and electronics, I am scared.

    • +1

Yes. LiIon is quite safe. Its liPo thats a worry as found in most power banks and toys.

As per ANY electronic, you'd never charge it without supervising it anyway.

18650 cells are arguably more safe than the softpacks you'd find in a mobile phone, and TONS of people charge those near their HEAD while they SLEEP.

  • Looks like coupon exhausted

That was quick. I'll message BG and see if they can extend.

      • Thanks champ

Just wondering, if this eBay item is the same unit.

    • Looks like it? Says Voileworks is the brand? Might be worth a shot.

    • Good find
And guess what, you might just be able to run a makita tool with the batteries, lol

  • +1

Got the skin last time, used a handful of times, maybe an hour in total, a puff of smoke later and dead

    • Thanks and back to the looper it is

    Back in stock

    • thanks! picked up one - $35.43 with up mastercard

    • 👍 36.14 for me (i left the USD0.47 shipping insurance on)

  • these are good and will last a long time if used for 5-10min lengths of time and put a little oil oil on the chain each time. The supplied batteries give about that length of time. I got greedy and used a makita battery and it lasted 10.5 mins.

I know it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges. But given the small blade as well as the maintenance associated with a chain saw (oil, cleaning, sharpening/replacing…) I would be considering the suitability of recip saw instead of this.

    • Very true, reciprocating saw much better and can do everything this does

  • Damn, seems like it's sold out.
