[QLD] Receive $50 if Your Electricity Rate Is Lower than Globird @ Globird

91

This deal is back with a slight variation and only available for QLD Energex zone residential customers only.

Email your most recent electricity bill to them and if Globird can't beat it, then they will pay you $50 (into your bank account). But if they work out to be cheaper, then you will not receive any credits (the previous deal still gave you $50 to transfer to them).

Anyone who managed to take advantage of this deal last time, can't do it again. It's limited to once per customer or site address in a 24-month period.

Full terms and conditions available at the bottom of the comparison link.

i got a quote and globird's rates are much more expensive than my current rates

    • but their feed in tariff is good. so if you have lots of panels and at home during daytime, and can control your purchases at night, globird could be good. just my 2c

      • Feed in tariff is 0.11 for the first 10 Kwh and then 0.04 for the balance.

        • I think Alinta's 8c/kWh flat rate works out better.

          • @Ham Dragon: at NSW my postcode website says 6.7 c
            :(

            • @CyberMurning: Power shop feed rate is 0.13 .. and you get the option to purchase future amount for less .. like ovo energy which gives you 3% credit on extra amount…

              • @jughead101: holy yes correct

Single rate tariff 28.59c/kWh (inc GST)
Daily supply charge 96.2c/day (inc GST)
Solar feed-in tariff 13c/kWh (inc GST)

                edit.
ijust checked my glo invoice for may 2023,
                Single rate tariff 55c
                Daily supply charge 95.7c
                Solar feed-in tariff 20c

I essentially don't use any grid electricity except for the hot water system, due to having a battery.
I made a spreadsheet where I just put in the prices and my typical feed-in for each month over the course of a year, and it shows me how much profit I'll make.

Globird's incredibly inflated supply charge results in my profit being lower over the course of an entire year compared to the company with the next highest FiT.
It isn't worth it, even with no electricity usage.

        • That looks like a heck of a spreadsheet! Kudos

        • mind to share your spreadsheet? now im worry about staying with globird haha
          thanks in advance

i dont have battery and actually quite low usage
its hard to compare, because all of them have that stages pricing ie the first xxx then yyy, and i saw one provider with the summer rate and winter rate omg!

      • Origin gives me 12c a kw. No limits. Costs ~8c a day for the offer.

        • you must be on the old grandfather rate, or something that new customer cannot get. maybe state specific

          • @CyberMurning: Nope. Just had a chat to rentenrions to see what they could offer. Was on 4c originally.
            Also, this is in QLD.

  • obviously this is giving Globird all your info, what do they actually require to qualify?

also does this apply to locked in rates for 12 months that while current are no longer available?

    Carefully read T&C!
Rejected last time due to my retailer's Demand tarrif was not a standard published rate.
Bill including extra Demand cost (~$5/m) was much lower.

Took up $100 offer to change to non-Demand rate. Will try again.

  • I got $50 last time they did that in Feb - takes ~3 weeks to get the money.

    • Same here

anyone on nectr energex standard rates should be cheaper than globird and qualify I just threw it in my spreadsheet & while the daily rate is higher the rate per kw/h is cheaper

    • Share the spread sheet?

      • not sharable it's based on my usage & differing rates sorry

I was with Origin, but transferred to Glowbird in April.
I did a comparison among major suppliers. Glowbird offered the most competitive price at the time. To be fair, glowbird is quite good.

    • i was with AGL then now globird.
according to my calc at that time, yes globird better.
plus i got few referral of $50 so now my ac is in credit

  • Last time the offered 1c discount on the bill with 2% surcharge if paying by card.

  • They could not do better than my current rates with Alinta, but also wouldn't pay the $50 as I have solar which is against their T&C for the offer.

Deal is free $50 for Queenslanders🌴
… Not for NSW! And Not to sign up!!

Did you read this Deal before making your invalid Neg???

Got easy $50 - for sending my bill!
      … Which means they're dearer.
Globird did the comparison for me So won't even think of going with Globird!

Your NSW based criticism was pointless.

Qld electricity is primarily from Qld Govt owned production, so wholesale prices are broadly Govt controlled. Very unlike NSW!

Besides, a price increase just makes it easier to be paid $50 for a comparison!!!
Should be an upvote because of that, not a Neg!

The more expensive they are the better this deal is.

    Thanks👍
An easy $50 on its way to my bank from Globird💰

"Your current rates are excellent, and we cannot beat the bill. So as promised we’re happy to confirm your already on an awesome deal, and pay you $50"

  • Thanks OP! $50 just landed in my account. They couldn't beat my Origin plan 11% below reference rate.
