Upload your electricity bill to their website and if your rates are better than what Globird has they will pay you $50.
If they have a better deal, then they will give you a $50 credit to transfer to them.
It's a win win to me.
Goodluck!

$50 account credit for referrer & referee.
They never paid out on any referrals I made when I was with them
Really? I've had about 10 referrals successfully paid.
You can't use this deal and get referral, it's one of the other unfortunately
Since when they've got referral? Have been customer since 2018 and had no idea
I availed this last week. They weren't able to beat and can confirm that I got the $50 credited to my account already
How did they process the $50?
directly credited to a bank account
50 bucks credited to your bank account? Or an account with them?
bank account
Really?
Who are you with and what plan?
Did you email them the bill? Did it take long for them to get back to you?
Yup. I called them up initially and said I would like to take this offer up and compare my bill. The rep was like "How did you come to know about this offer as we are not advertising it yet?". I said it's up on the website (lol). Then he asked me to send my bill to an email address and mention it was for the comparison offer.
They got back to me after 2 days and asked for my bank details. 2 days after that they confirmed they processed the payment. It hit my account a day later
Thanks for the info!
When I called they told me to use the website to submit my bill, hopefully they get back to me via that way too.
Which power company you with?
Alinta
How long until they contacted you? Submitted yesterday but no response yet.
“Does not include solar feed in credits.”
That's absurd and a joke. Do solar feed-in credits not possess any value at all???
FWIW I checked and their cheapest offer was … "BOOST- By switching your bill would increase by $274.94 per year".
I was with them a year-ish ago. Thought they were good but clearly now not competitive. Fairplay though I locked in a fixed 18m Lumo deal prior to the FY end and it's clearly paying dividends.
…and that's my cue to exit!
Went with these guys around a year ago in Adelaide. A comparison site had them as good as any for my location.
Prices went up last July. I figured well, others are all doing the same, naively I didn't check. Their bill format makes it harder to compare rates on an automatic upload anyway.
Well, my next bill, frightening. They went from the best to the worst inside 6 months.
Never. Ever. Again.
So what are their rates after the rise? We can compare them to others using the government's comparison website.
It seems unlikely to me that a company whose entire schtick is being exceptionally low cost, would actually just become the highest cost.
I say this because I'm with Tango (another very low cost provider) and their rates rocketed in July also - I think everyone's did.
I was a long time AGL customer, switched after a very good comparison. Now they've flipped, atleast for me. I'm not eligible for certain plans, I can't recall the name, peak and off peak or whatever.
I can't recall exact figures, think it was around 50c and feed in was like 1c.
Same thing happened for me. I was with Globird and they had a massive price hike.
These rates are really good for me though and they let me know well advance before the price hike.
So, i am going to take $50 credit, move with much cheaper rate and if they decide to hike up the price, then I will move out again.
So they've corrected since July?
I had my largest qtr bill ever, despite minimal aircon use, Adelaide weather has been pretty comfortable in recent years. Though I handle cold ok.
It is back to the price I started with. I don't know why their price is fluctuating so much. Maybe they are trying to lure people in and get lazy taxes on people who don't check their bills.
I had my largest qtr bill ever, despite minimal aircon use,
Your comparison should be based on electricity metered, not if you "think" you used less electricity
@Davo1111: I been in the house 8 years, I have a smart meter too.
I know my electricity habits. I check my daily amounts every day.
There was no think. My bills are solely impacted by aircon use at night, being a double storey too. I have 5kw Solar that covers all day usage.
I even turn off the power running to my solar hot water during summer.
Same for us. We stuck with them for a while but the price increase last year was large enough for us to switch. We are now saving around $10-15 per month
Same thing here, switched to globird as they were the cheapest rates, after 3 months rates basically doubled (when all the rates went up) and became more that other providers. Switched out to Alinta. Will have to see if I can get $50.
…Downloading Photoshop…
Um adobe acrobat works a treat
Rates must be current, genuine, verifiable, published standard rates that are available to the public and displayed on a competitor's website.
Would Tango Energy eSelect+ be cheaper? It’s hard to compare as GloBird uses On and Off peak whereas tango is just flat rate.
For me Tango is coming out $10 cheaper than Globird plus this offer seems better "You will receive a one-off $100 bill rebate on your third monthly bill after joining."
Moving to Tango!
They're in SA, your rate are Vic. Energy is always more expensive in SA.
$50 with a side of identity theft?
I like that you're like:
$50 with a side of identity theft?
upvote intensifies
Be careful, these guys ripped me off.
Yeah . They burnt me too. They are on my never again list.
Any catch with their Free Lunch ? $0 between 12pm and 2pm
yes higher rates between 2pm and 12pm
Beat my bill? It's like 2.5x what I pay.
They require a high credit score which is not advertised properly. From memory it is 750 as I was denied a power connection and had called them to know why. For reference it is easier to get a credit card than a power connection from Globird. All credit checks stay on your file for five years and negatively affect your rating.
Put a free ban on your credit.
Guess most people wouldn’t realise until there’s already an enquiry been made by so power/other companies. Putting ban will ensure you can deter pests like these.
The minimum my energy costs would increase with these clowns is $275, so no, not a good deal.
Don't they give you $50 then? Because they can't beat your price?
$50 to hand over personal details & be bombarded with spam? That's a shitty deal.
You claim the Deal you qualify for: "$50 to You if Your Electricity Rate Is Lower" - is "not a good deal"??
Plus Deal is worthy of an invalid Neg vote to you??
You don't want the $50 for uploading bill??
Took 1 minute to click Deal Link & send current bill. Yes they will be in contact!
(Had the pdf as paid last month's $53 bill tonight - house is all electric, no solar)
Didn't bother checking rates, but Globird is certain to be higher. Qualifying for $50!
My costs would go up by $220 if I switched to them. But there doesn't seem to be any way to actually get the $50
But there doesn't seem to be any way to actually get the $50
There certainly is! You provide all necessary information in Deal Link form (name, email, copy of bill).
Obviously, they contact you (via your email) after comparing bill you uploaded & their rates at your location. And need to arrange to send that $50 to your bank account (or sign.you up)!
Based on that, they say they will pay you $50 if they can't beat your bill.
(Of course they are hoping they won't do that, that their rates are lower, & can convince you to switch to them, with a $50 credit.)
Commented above: got the $50 credited to my (bank) account already
It's just marketing - to switch you to them. It will be targeted based on the details you provided!
But sent the PDF of my current bill. Took 1 minute. Hopefully the $50 arrives…
Just tries uploading my Lumo (57% cheaper bill) and got "The uploaded file exceeds the maximum upload size of your server".
The file is only 2.4mb
My bill pdf from Alinta was only 333KB - accepted.
Thanks, but there's no option for me to actually upload my bill anywhere. Just "We don't like to be beaten on price. So call us on 133 456." Meh.
Edit: Turns out the website is weird on Firefox. Works from Chrome.
I will never back to Globird
Who are you with now?
Use Lumo energy now, it's cheaper than them!
I was with Globird and switched to Lumo because lumo was 30% more expensive than Lumo.
"lumo was 30% more expensive than Lumo"
Huh?
Yeah lumo is also government owned so your dealing with a trustworthy company. Just wish everything was government owned in this country like it was before.
Wouldn't be so much scams and dodgy things everywhere.
Yes we should nationalise it all and put honest bruz in charge of them. Daryl can help out, he's good with money.
The rates they show says its discounted rates. It wont let me check the energy fact sheet for the full undiscounted rates.
The uploaded file exceeds the maximum upload size of your server.
What a joke for 2.8mb pdf file
How do you even get to that page? Is it through the promo link OP posted or just their normal comparison page?
Yeah can't find where to upload, just prompts me to compare or accept their rates and sign up…
Click Go to Deal / thumbnail
Important T&C there.
Provide name, email, upload LATEST bill
(My bill pdf from retailer was 333KB)
Took 1 minute.
Tip: Name should match that on bill, otherwise you may not have authority to act on account or switch retailer! Some do not qualify in other energy Deals & miss out.
Didn't bother comparing - they'll be in contact to send me the $50!
Whats the best rate by provider in Melbourne east?
These clowns even did a credit check for moving houses
Same account holder ?
Rather than moving my account, they created a new account and closed the previous one and hence did another credit check
For those that have bills that are too big. You can use something like https://shrinkpdf.com/ to shrink your document size to upload.
Also for those who's bills are too big:
https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/cooling/air-condit…
What do they do with the data you send them? Do they guarantee they will delete it or will they monetise it?
If only I had a choice of providers, God damn embedded power networks.
Whinge/rant over :/
Don't you love it when the marketing team, completely disconnected from reality comes up with an idea.
My single rate is 10% less then their off-peak rate, my supply charge is 10% less. My solar feed in is double.
Where's my fiddy?
You don't qualify if you have solar, do you?
But I get your point.
*Update - okay so the solar portion isn't counted for comparison :/
No solar's ok
Does not include solar feed in credits.
Rates are slightly cheaper to my current provider, Sumo but because of my feed-in-tariff at 10.2cents - it doesn't make sense to switch right now.
Not sure if there are any other retailers providing 10.2cents or greater feed-in-tariff
Don't people figure out the best rewards program associated with the power companies and for me like get a 30 X of this bonus yearly ?
Tried uploading my bill and it says the file is too big. It's 1MB.
Then tried the sign up process where I manually entered my bill details. They gave me a quote which was over $1,000 higher than my current bill, and said:
"We don't like to be beaten on price. So call us on 133 456."
Pfft. I'm not going to ring them and be harassed to sign up. The $50 isn't real.
This. It's a horrible concept.
“Does not include solar feed in credits”
So their power might be cheaper but my bill will be higher and I don’t get a free $50
Yeah, I'd imagine very few people would actually benefit.
The government comparison sites in most states are your best way to genuinely compare without the BS sales tactics.
That's just a T&C for the $50 bill comparison offer.
Solar credits will vary by retailer & your situation, so would be complex to use in bill comparison. Same with discounts applied to your bill.
So they compare cost before solar credits.
Of course do your own research before considering an offer.
I guess the promo does state if your 'RATE' is lower, not if your BILL is lower. I just wanted $50
Like all of us💰
Yes - it's about comparison of rates. I didn't bother to check their rates! That's what this promotion wanted us to do - to get us to switch to them. Likely had opposite effect!
Was actually going to sign up with these guys soon, thanks for the heads-up based on these comments. Anyone have any suggestions for Qld with swapping over to?
recently switched to nectr and they're pretty good
i use nectr found them really good, can't comment on rates as I locked in for 12months before all the rises
I am confused, do you complete details under the main page (Name, email and upload bill)
or do you follow "Can you beat your bill" link?
So, I am not alone.
Same, figured it must be the little form on the bottom of the page where you enter name, email and upload bill
I'm in NSW and switched to Globird about a year ago which was the best pricing at the time based on comparison website.
During the last year they upped the rates by quite a bit. When I checked comparison website again today, they are still the cheapest.
This seems contrary to most of the comments above. Is there something that I'm missing? Are comparison sites accurate? Am I being ripped off by Globird without knowing lol
They did a dirty move where they increased prices sharply in July 2022 (almost double for gas). A month later I found out that they dropped prices again for new customers. So I called and moved from plan with hiked up prices to cheap new plan. They just know that people don’t usually bother checking or calling.
So did you move away from Globird or did you call them to change to lower rates again?
was on expensive rates for 1 month then moved to cheaper plan with them, rates hasn't changed since then.
@bashar20: Which plans were/are you on if you don't mind me asking
Different locations can be very different.
I dont think I qualify, my fixed 12 month rate is a special seniors deal that is no longer published or available
Mad
Some "Reasonable terms and conditions" and then ignoring solar credits?! Anyone remotely keen on reducing their power bill and able to will have solar. This is hardly a deal.
And don't forget referrals:P
