M2 air is a sweet spot value laptop …. so sells without heavy discounts …

Well it was the CBA that said in 2020 that house prices would fall by 30%…so I guess we shouldn't listen if CBA says M2 air prices will fall

Dunno why they don't just reduce the price of apple product on a permanent basis. Seems to always come on sale every few weeks, somewhere. Or simply sell the apple OS software for people who want it on a tower or something.

Probably because you are wrong about the cpu, gpu, ram etc. Apple silicon is totally different from a pc and therefore a. the hardware is totally different and b. you can't just make it run on pcs.
Ummmm you should do some homework about the cpu's and ram and hdd/ssd. Anyhoooo…. it wouldn't be worth squat without the sofware.

JB and Officeworks are also selling old M1 MacBooks on pretty big discounts. More than $600 less even that this discounted price on the pros, worth considering given the change in performance is not very significant
