    Bought 2. Nice deal

  • Can someone please post a link on what usb to drive connector I can buy to use this as an external drive to connect to my HD set top box/pvr so that I can record shows into it (instead of buying an external drive for $99). I am assuming I do not need an external power supply for this drive.

Bought 2, and the code for free shipping from the other day still works:

  • They must have only had a few. Post was 20 mins ago, and its all gone. :-(

  • Damn. any 3.5" drive? I am in the market for the cheap one. $48 is great price!

  • OP - you could change the deal over to the $58 seagate, still an excellent price.

  • too bad these only come with a 12 month warranty. They usually come with 2+years……..

  • bummer missed out :(

  • Seagates also sold out

    • And no one cared because they were Seagate.

        • Pretty cool, had never seen that before.

        • I should have included a potentially NSFW warning on that - starts off with a picture of two girls kissing on a keg at a party. And probably a few swear words.

        • Hmm perhaps, too late now! Reading that reminded me of this incident.

Never found out what happened to him if anything., should do some googling and see if he got a reprimand or lost his job etc.

    • Any room to move on the Samsung 640gb drives… for those of us that slept in.

      • I second this motion.

        • +1

I will be another few weeks before we get more stock realistically. But we will see what we can do.

      • +5

Just dropped the price down to $58 on those as well.

  • +2

Was a good price, but OEM warranty probably means no warranty from WDC.
It would be provided by a third party, perhaps the rep from flingshot can clarify who/ where/ what?

    • +1

Replacement warranty covered by us yes.

I know the scorpio blue drives are the ones advised for the XBOX360 if you want to format your own drive, does anyone know if this specific HDD is sutible to be flashed to work with the XBOX?

Please someone who knows about this reply, Thanks in advance!

Mine arrived today too, neither were in factory sealed bags which was a tad concerning. Both drives also had filesystems present that were created on Sunday the 26th of August.

    • Sorry about the packaging we ran out of 2.5in static bags so we had to improvise, we didn't want people to have to wait 2-3 days for more to arrive. If there is any issues with the drives let us know.

      • These drives should have been factory sealed in their own static bags, you shouldn't need to put them into bags yourself.

In what state/condition did you received them?

        • Just to give you the whole picture of where these drives come from. We do bulk corp deals on laptops for clients and they almost always want ssd's some order 30 lenovo laptops for example and pull these drives out of the machine and put an ssd in its place. The drives have only had the is Inge cloned we take them as format them to make sure there are no doa's and then we ship them out. That's why we have to offer a one year replacement warranty because the drives are not covered by the standard manufacterer's warranty. Hopefully that puts everyone's minds at ease. These are definitely not fake, but we are happy to offer a refund to anyone who is still concerned. We have about 30 people asking when we will get more stock so I am sure these will go quickly.

Apologies for any confusion we honestly didn't expect this deal to be posted here and usually before buying people email us and ask what the story is which we explain to them before they buy.

        • Okay that explains why they're not spanking new and sealed in bags, thanks for the info. I've given the two I received a bit of a quick thrashing, they seem fine so I'm happy.

Would have been nice to know this info before they turned up but it's all good now.

        • Yeah they should all be fine. They pretty much sold out before we even realized te deal had been posted so we didn't really have a chance to clarify. If we had posted it we would have made it clear where they came from.

    • Mine came like this too!

      I hope these drives aren't fakes….

      http://news.softpedia.com/news/HDD-Crisis-Was-Fake-Seagate-a…

      • Eh? That story is about the fake "crisis" around the floods, no mention of fake drives.

        • Still a very interesting read! We can definitely attest that the oem's jacked up the prices during this "crisis". Yet they would still mysteriously find cheaper drives laying around wen it suited them.

        • Fakes are out there, but it'd be hard to fake something like the drive in this post.

This is my all time favourite fake drive story
