  • These are great speakers, they connect easily to your phone. It is Bluetooth 5.0 so has great range, pretty much anywhere in my (small) house.
The audio quality is excellent for the price.

    • Ah man, I don't need these but so tempted lol

  • Damn I snapped up the $135 MR4s from a few days (Weeks?) ago. Was wondering if the 1700s would have been a better choice!

  • Are these good as being Computer speakers and listening to music from there?
I'm getting a little sick of using headphones to listen to music when I am moving around the room

  • The R1700BT are on 40% off sale for $149 https://edifier-online.com/au/en/speakers/r1700bt-bluetooth-… (R1700BT has been even lower in the past)

What is the difference between the two?

    • +1

The S version has a sub out and is a newer model.

    • +1

Sub out and bluetooth 5 instead of 4 on the bt

    • Upgrade from Bluetooth 4.0 to 5.0, your phone will stay connected to the speakers even when you walk out of the room.
I have both the R1700BT and the R1700BTs in my house, the increased Bluetooth range is quite noticeable.
The remote control is a neater layout and easier to use.
On the older model the blue on/off light and Bluetooth light is on the side of the speaker and difficult to see, so you don't notice if it's turned on or if
you've left the speaker on until a day or two later when you happen to see the side of the speaker and see that the light and therefore power is still on.
The new model has a little LED light at the front, so you know if you've successfully turned it on and that you've connected to Bluetooth.
Also as others have stated sub out is included in the newer model.

  • Have been using the 1700bt for a couple of months, bought for $100. They sound great for movies and music or anything. Not bass heavy so having a sub out like this would be handy, not sure I could justify extra $60 and then a $250 sub or so myself. But does the job decently without.

    • Are yours connected to the tv or pc?

      • +1

I had them connected to my tv which I use as a pc screen, but the audio would cut out when the screen is off, so I plug into pc and bluetooth them to the tv for when i use streaming apps.

  • Hmm.. It shows $199.99? Are these OK for general/average/basic TV speaker?

    • +1

There is a $40 coupon you can apply to bring the prince down to $159

      • I missed that, thank you :)

  • what sub would you pair with these? Most seem to cost more than the speakers themselves.

    • Pickup something cheap from marketplace or gumtree for less than $100

  • Doesn’t have Hdmi arc/ eARC

  • It's showing as $299.99?
