People go crazy for these mechanical keyboards

    • +7

These mechanical keyboards make Homer go…something…. Something.

      Go crazy?

      Don’t mind if I do!

    • +3

it's a never-ending chase for that orgasmic thock

      • alas I am still yet to experience it

  • Would this be good for gaming or more for office use?

    • +10

      Yes.

      • +2

i agree, linear switch is good for gaming as its most responsive but also good for office as it the least noisy unless you're the kind who bottoms out keys all the time

i personally wont get linear though

    • -5

      You're welcome

    • +11

Mechanical keyboards in an office is the audible equivalent of having a stinky lunch.

      Great for home but.

      • +2

You can get quiet switches though. But yes, a loud one nearby is pretty bad for everyone.

      • +1

It's only blue switches that are very loud and clacky. Reds and are audible but not loud. Most likely wouldn't be loud enough to be heard over background noise in an office.

There are also silent Reds which barely make any noise. It's what I have in my keyboard.

      • +1

That highly depends on what key switch it has.

I've used silent ones before and loud ones. At the moment, I am using blue switches (which are loud) but I am working at home so it's not an issue. Wouldn't use this in an office though. Would annoy everyone with the click click click.

      • +2

Switches red and brown are practically silent around town. Does not compare to mackerel in the microwave!

(The good lady wife was purchased MX Keys during VIC COVID lockdown to keep the noise below frown unshown)

      • -4

you are confusing mechanical keyboards with mx blue switches, but by the looks of it, you are ignorant to the mechanical keyboard options.

mechanical keyboards are fantastic and you can customise it anyway you like. you can have a super load keyboard or you can have the quietest keyboard every made. you also can customise where the key actuates. you can make it linear, tactile, or clicky. you can also change the travel of the keystroke. you can also change the weight of the press and depress of a keystroke. you can have rgb or not. you really have unlimited options with a mechanical keyboard. with this logitech you get only 1 option straight out of the box. the beauty of a mechanical keyboard that is hot swappable is it makes it very easy to change and customise to your perfect setup.

        • Not ignorant at all. I know blues are the loudest, but that doesn’t mean the others are quite.

I also know there’s a whole scene for modding mechs. But 99% of people aren’t doing that.

          • +1

@PainToad: No, 99.9% of people are using the supplied work keyboard that is louder than my mechanical keyboard.

            • @MonkDog: and are mushy. those free work keyboards are the worse. they a gave me one of those wireless logitech keyboard and mouse and told them no thank you. lol
they think i am a big weirdo when i go to the office a few days a week with my own keyboard and mouse.
Then i let them try my setup and they want one, well that is until i tell them how much it cost to build, roflmao.

    • -2

In my opinion tenkeyless (TKL) is neither good for office or gaming. If you are a gamer, you come across games that use the numpad, or where you wish you could bind some more keys. As an office user you might use the numpad for calculations etc. Mechanical keyboards and switches are of course a personal choice - I like brown or black keys as I find I make less typo's on them, and I enjoy resting my fingers on the keyboard without pressing buttons.

      • “Office user” is such a generic term. Everyone sitting in an office isn’t doing calculations.

  • +17

Important note: this keyboard is explicitly wireless only, there is no option to go wired if that is what you want. Not being able to use a cable/wired is a deal breaker for me.

    • +18

Perhaps you're looking for a wired keyboard

      • +24

I know you’re trying to be a smart ass but there are keyboards that are both wireless and wired combined.

        • Why not both? Although honestly both gives increased flexibility. I plug mine in to whatever computer I'm using at work (no need to mess with bluetooth) and change to the bluetooth to type on my tablet or phone.

        • -1

Yes and it would cost more from brands like Logitech, Razer or Corsair, Mr. Sherlock.

      • +2

I agree. It feels like he needs a wired keyboard for his needs.

        • +1

Imagine your phone is charged wirelessly only

          • +1

@bcYield: Everyone will cry… until Apple does it.
Then it will be considered a brilliant innovative gamechanger. Incorporating amazing MFi tech to protect its walle.. err.. customers user experience.

    • Please explain. Every since wireless I've never ever wanted a wire keyboard. Is there a use case I'm not familiar with?

      • +1

        Less input lag while gaming.

      • Also no surprise of keyboard suddenly running out of battery amidst and online game

  • +7

    n0 num83r pad…n00000

    • +1

Bad ergomics you don't want it too wide

    • +4

I love no number pad. So much more desk real estate!

      • +2

Until you need to enter windows bitlocker key which is like a 30 digit number, every other week.
I got a keyboard specifically for this as laptop tkl keyboard was driving me insane.
The punchline is that windows bitlocker key entry didn’t recognise the external keyboard and I still had to type it in TKL keyboard 🥹

        • +1

          That is super (profanity) man!

        • +1

Or endlessly entering I.P. addresses. Having the ‘.’ character right there on the numpad is so convenient. About the only situation when I think it wouldn’t matter is entering a bunch of MAC addresses, with the mix of alpha and numeric characters plus colon or dash.

      • 30+ years of muscle memory, I had to give up the compact Keychron V5 and go back to full size

    • It seems you need a 96pc / 1800 layout. Makes much more sense than a tkl.

      • +5

false. it all depends. if you are working with numbers all day, then for sure you need a numpad. if you don't have to use numbers frequently a TKL is a great option, especially on a small desk.

        • if you had numbers all day wouldnt you want to get a seperate numpad you can position comfortably ? ( i dont work with numbers all day, i find the AUS layout not to bad for when i do need numbers on the top row)

          • +3

@juki: That’s exactly what I’ve done for Mrs C. She likes the smaller TKL ‘boards because they’re neat & tidy, however there are occasions through her day when she needs to enter a lot of numbers. So, I bought her a wireless numpad to use, and she gets that out when required then pops it back in the desk drawer when finished.

  • +3

Love this, it uses 2 AAA batteries. This thing will last forever…

    • +9

      For an aaaternity.

    • -3

custom keyboards have an option for a rechargeable lithium battery inside that will last even longer then 2 AAA batteries

      • +1

        It's not replaceable.

        • -3

you never need to replace it. when was the last time you replaced your iPhone battery? never? lol

          • -1

@Hugh G Rection: Lol we retire the iPhone.

            • -1

@ttt888: you retire it only because you upgraded to a new phone. but that iPhone is still good to use, but you works perfectly fine. that is also with a smaller battery then a keyboard battery.

          • -1

@Hugh G Rection: There's no USB to charge the battery. You'd have to add a daughterboard USB and it's not worth it. Just get a KB with a USB.

            • -1

@BoltThrower: lol, of course there is. you can charge it to a wall charger or charge it while using it with your computer.

fyi, i am talking about alternative far superior keyboards, not this inferior keyboard. i think you misread and think i'm talking about this logitech keyboard. lol if you think this is a custom keyboard.

  • +1

Can you type word documents with this?

    • +23

Just six words before the batteries expi

      • Your ultimate sacrifice will never be

      • +1

This comment's just six words long!

    • +2

      word documents

      • +1

        Thanks

  • +1

I have this keyboard, its fantastic. I paid $112, wouldn't think twice at this price.

    • Hey mate, I am planning to buy this keyboard. Can I ask if this has any vibration/ping noise coming from the aluminium plate?

  • Odd qn I'm sure but is there a seperate numberpad one could get to suit? I sort've like it for work but no need for gaming…

    • +1

You need a 96pc or 1800 layout. It's basically the reverse of this. You keep the numpad instead of the nav cluster. You can then access the nav cluster keys via an overlay if you really want to.

Alternatively you could buy a seperate numpad.

I don't really understand how people do standard life things like tax and bookkeeping without a numpad.

      • Yeah I certainly use mine a bit but largely for my job. Gaming on the other hand has no requirement so I could.imagimr enjoying a little more desk space and just this decent keyboard to operate with. I'll buy now and worry later though!

      • Tax and bookkeeping is standard life things? Haha.

Tax is done once a year right? :D

        • +1

Clearly you're a lucky person who doesn't have to do business activity statements. Four times a year + your tax return!

  • +3

save your money and invest in a keychron Q series

    • keychrons are a great gateway drug, but then you graduate from the entry level board. I started with the Q1, now I have a Jelly

  • What came first, the chicken or the keychron?

    • +2

Keychron is better bang for buck, has options to change switches and keycaps depending on model.

Logitech? Nope. But the bolt receiver can connect to other logitech bolt enabled devices

      • This ^, I have the signature series 3 mouse with k885 keyboard and only need the one USB receiver.

  • +21

Just bought this one 75aud 2 weeks ago . Frankly speaking, it's not a good keyboard, it's switches have a significant hollow sound and feel a bit loose.
Keychron is way better than this one. Don't waste your money

    • thanks the last time i got a logitech keyboard, it was such low quality i gave it away for free

    • Buyers remorse setting in…this one might be hitting marketplace…

    • Saved me from buying one for a location I occasionally work at - thank you for your service!

    • I feel better reading this comment, thank you

    • +2

Just picked this one up today and I can concur with your assessment on hollow sound. But so far I am happy with it given the price point.

Not a keyboard connoisseur and I have been using a Keychron K2 (brown switch) for quite a while. I'd say the difference is somewhat minor and would still be acceptable as an entry level mech keyboard.

I do like this keyboard for the lack of RGB. Also AAA-batteries means it's easy to recharge.

  • +5

An instant buy if it had a number pad

    • ditto… i have no idea why there are so many tkl

  • +2

Good keyboard, super small, so easy to put away as well

    • +1

I was pleasantly surprised to learn it's designed to stand up vertically in storage position when you need more desk space.

  • +1

IMHO dont bother unless you plan to keep for a year or two. My m650 and g305 had issues but got replaced during warranty, but the pebble and g615 had issues after warranty period.

Wanted to get the mx mechanical, but got keychron instead, logitech isnt what it used to be. Feel free to google the below issues.

    • G615 Mechanical gaming keyboard = keyboard chatter (double typing)
    • Wireless Pebble M350 mouse = click not working
    • Wireless Signature M650 mouse = click not working
    • Wireless gaming G305 mouse = click not working
    • +2

Yep, Gateron and Kailh switches are now better than other switches including Cherry.
Almost all keychron keyboards are using Gateron switches.

      • And the option to hotswap is a godsend.

    • I have a G710+ that is still going strong after 8 years.

I also have a faulty G910 that double types and like 5 mice that double click all the time.

I would never buy another Logitech product.

  • Can you get logitech software to setup macros on this keyboard?

    • use general macro they are better

  • Grabbed one, thanks!

  • Amazing keyboard, keycaps are a let down but these are cherry stems so a quick change of keycaps made it the best keyboard I ever had. I had 2 keychrons.

  • Ta, ordered

  • Does this have the romer G switches? If so, avoid. I have a G613 with the repeating keys problem. Be prepared that it lasts for 2 years tops.

  • +2

Great price for this keyboard thanks. Purchased this afternoon from Officeworks who appear to have matched the price. Just a note for anyone thinking of buying for use in the office. I find it pretty noisy, don't think anyone mentioned that above. Much noisier than the G915 tactile TKL I also have, but I needed switching ability to three devices so purchased this.

    • Just to clarify - Officeworks has matched at $74, or $66?

Online showing the former, but was wondering whether you were able to get it for $66.

      • +1

Sorry, was $74, the clickfrenzy23 expired, still a good price. Bunch of other retailers still advertising over $100.

  • Anyone know a decent sized mouse that matches these colours?

  • +3

Mine arrived clearly used, with the security tabs taped up. I could live with that I guess if keyboard was mint condition etc. unfortunately the receiver wasn't even in the package… Like they didn't even bother to check it before shipping off second hand goods? Pretty lame tbh and a PITA to return.

    • The receiver is in a wired place, I could not find it easily! https://ibb.co/3pxg833

    • That sucks mate! Mine was certainly new and pretty good for me tbh. I'm just going to add some orings to the keys which will remove a bit of the hollowness but they're not as bad as I expected.
