I'm guessing they are clearing these out for new models to come soon.

@CyberMurning: Probably would have been quicker for me to Ask Jeeves for the answer than the back and forth on here.
@CyberMurning: When was ChiMot born
and origin of the name or meaning ?@pinkybrain: Oh just a nickname that friends gave me during our dark high school times..
@CyberMurning: does it actually shorten for something or has a meaning behind it..
people don't just randomly say ChiMot as a nickname,
unless it is like a some non english word meaning behind it
since in english the word has no meaning.@pinkybrain: no meaning.
Yes i know. Sign up to my premium membership of google search where you can find almost every answer with a click of a button
They're probably wanting people to buy the upcoming Pixel tablet with hub style stand instead. But at $900 and a 60hz screen it's a no brainer for me to order this. Don't really need a detachable screen.
There is actually a lot more to the Pixel thn detachable tablet… but agree for the price its not quite there yet…
Agree. I grabbed one. Been waiting for a price drop.
I was excited about the new Pixel Tablet as well, but apparently they've really cheaped out on the speaker dock. Weak sound, and when the tablet is not docked, it doesn't have any standalone functionality whatsoever.
This is a really good price and perfect if you got oldies specially in a nursing home.
Serious question as without it the Google Nest Hub would be pretty useless, do nursing homes these days usually have wifi the residents can use or would that be the sort of thing the residents would need to provide for themselves?
It's 2023, they got free fast internet, even fast enough for Netflix/Kayo/Unix ISO.
I'm not sure that would be true of all nursing homes, if you intended to buy a Google Nest Hub as a gift for a resident I think it would be prudent to check on the wifi access situation first (I didn't neg you btw).
@shutuptakemymoney101: Yeah, do your research before buy one, luckly my oldies got the full internet access. Otherwise I would of get them a wireless access point as they luv their internet.
After I got them, few others in the centre got their and luv them.
I believe they’re price matching with COTD. But with prime i can get this delivered today, thanks OP!
I bought it today and it arrived yesterday!
That is quick delivery
Chat gpt knew ull buy it so sent it before you purchased it.
Does this comply for ShopBack cashback?
These don't come with a lot of the features that they have in the US, and in fact are removing some features such as games.
What features do they have in the US?
Slide up app drawer , where you can access Spotify/YouTube etc. I find the current way awful, and mainly Chromecast it if I want something specific
what you talking about?
if you slide up there is already Spotify/YouTube shortcutalso there is an app drawer
@pinkybrain: None of my 3 hubs have the feature. And after posting on he google community hub I was told by their 'experts' that it is not currently available in my location, and to fill out a request form to let the developers know it's desired.
@Pinhed: what model and version of the hub you have?
post pics of your hub swipe up so we can seemost hubs should have app draw and shortcut to those apps when swiping up
maybe your one not running Fuchsia OS ?
check this
https://9to5google.com/2022/05/19/original-nest-hub-app-laun…
@pinkybrain: My hub max also do not have the drawer. On Fuchsia 10.202212xxxx.
Shame. Having the app drawer will make this a lot more useful. However, I'll prob still chromecast to it. :D
@pinkybrain: Most people don’t have fuchsia yet, it only started rolling out the other day and not for everyone. It was previously only for the preview program participants. None of my 4 have it.
Price matched with Officeworks for $198.93. Thanks OPs
Nice!! I pulled the trigger too early.
Call officeworks up and price match and pay for it, then cancel your amazon order.
These are awesome, can buy 4 for the price of the tablet which is basically the same.
Damn, must have just missed it. OOS
Charcoal still available
Charcoal still available
Can I run weather forecast widget as wallpaper all the time, thanks
It annoys me that these have been out for a long time, but still if you set your country to Australia, you can't set internet radio alarms on it. The Lenovo one has always had that feature but Google refuses to allow Australians to have it on their main line hub.
Could be some sort of geolocation spat with radio companies? Google refusing on an opportunity to sell ad revenue is very out of character.
Sorry, can you tell me what an internet radio alarm is? Curious
probably name saids it all
internet radio + alarm
Basically just using any Internet radio service (Tune-in, My Heart, etc) as an alarm.
For example, when using the Lenovo Smart Alarm clock you can say, "Hey Google, set radio alarm for 6am tomorrow", then it will reply, "What radio station would you like to set" and you can choose any radio station, including international stations. Works with Alexa/Amazon devices too.
If you try the same thing on Google Nest Hub it says, "Sorry, that is not supported on this device". Contacted Google about it and they confirmed that media/radio alarms are only available for the US.
what internet radio are you interested in as alarm?
worth upgrading from the smaller version?
seems its sold out though
All out I believe
Does this have as good sound as the screenless max?
Dupe
Both chalk and charcoal still available on Catch.
Catch still have stock at same price
Just bought oneSays $429 now
Try this link . https://www.catch.com.au/product/google-nest-hub-max-chalk-6…

new pixel tablet + hub looks more interesting
but quite priceyhttps://store.google.com/product/pixel_tablet?hl=en-US&pli=1
If I were in the market for a tablet i would have gone for this. The Nest Hub is however awesome. The 7" has been as low as $89. Was looking for the larger 10" and the current price is the lowest yet.
yeah but the new pixel tablet makes it more useful as a hub and tablet + hub speakers
having a tablet that is also a hub is actually a good idea since when you are aren't using it
you leave it charging and used as a hub..also when you are using it as a hub, sometimes you want to pick it up and used it elsewhere or use it in tablet mode.
And the hub speakers would make tablet videos/music more better if you wanted to enjoy it more etc.most of the time, the nest hub is actually not that useful for non home task e.g. web browsing etc..
also if they implement the user profiles with fingerprint,
will be quite good for multiple users since each person will only view the tablet with their own apps and stuff..
and if it can double as a nest security camera, would also be good.actually quite interested to see this in person / at a store.
Good points.
Ridiculously priced tbh. Almost double the US price, and when the base iPad costs $750 foot the newest or only $550 for the previous Gen, the pixel tablet is dead in the water.
yeah it is expensive but depends on how people/customers look at it..
instead of needing to buy three separate devices, for 1 price you get
-tablet
-home hub max
-speaker dockAlso how it functions as tablet/hub is pretty good idea
that many people probably wanted to do before but couldn'tLike when you using the tablet and want better audio
just dock it. No need to send the audio to a bluetooth speaker. When you using the hub in the kitchen and want a better browsing experience..
just take it off and use it as a tablet.
Or want to take the hub/tablet to some other room, just do that. This one device saves on buying multiple devices that only does one thing
ie don't need both a hub max and a separate tabletApple has no home hub smart display device right now.
Wouldn't be surprise if Apple has something similar in their works/future product.
Most people are in the smart home ecosystem with google or Amazon.Apple smart home market share is probably quite small and may be too late to catch up now..
and unlikely to be able to convert existing owners over.what base iPad costs $750 you talking about?
also some people don't like ipad ecosystem / wall gardenYeah most Australian prices are crap vs US price.
Even apple and lots of other companies have done this.Just wait for retailers sales and ebay discounts to drop it more.
Or google to do promotional sales each year. The pixel tablet seems to be missing a few crucial things to make it better
1) The speaker doesn't function by itself without the tablet attached. You cannot even cast music to it via the tablet.
2) The sound quality is between Google nest hub and the Google hub max. It should have been the same or better than the hub max.I think it is actually better to buy a tablet and cast to the hub max, so you get the best of both worlds.
1) The speaker doesn't function by itself without the tablet attached. You cannot even cast music to it via the tablet.
Yeah some reviewers said Google could have included the home assistant so it can function as a stand alone smart speaker when not dock..
And no casting is also shorted sighted.Guess google was looking at it as a power charger that has speakers that you can take the display off and function as a a speaker
and nothing more. Not sure if Google can implement this with software updates or not..
or something for version 2 etc..Maybe they need to do this to cut down cost of the speakers (if it included google assistant + casting abilities)
2) The sound quality is between Google nest hub and the Google hub max. It should have been the same or better than the hub max.
I think most people just want to get better audio/louder audio when watching youtube videos on their tablet..
Haven't no idea how it sounds, but if it is loud enough it should be good enough for most people.I think it is actually better to buy a tablet and cast to the hub max, so you get the best of both worlds.
let's wait and see how people buy this
I think this is more for people who was considering getting both a new
-android tablet
-nest hub maxSo now they can just buy one..
The way I see it, If Apple releases a speaker dock for the iPad, then it will really eat in to this.
will see if you prediction is true or not.
surprising Apple haven't released it yet since that is the only way they can quickly gain smart display/smart home integration..
anyway most people got google or amazon smart speakers / smart displays all around their house which integrates with each other..
I don't think people are going to buy an expensive Apple dock (yes this is apple, it will be expensive)
just turn to their ipad into a smart display and ditch their existing smart home devices. Also the other issue is
most people who have iPad have lightning port and the only new one is the usb c on ipad 10th gen.
Any apple dock release is not gonna be easy to dock and charge the ipad as easily as the Pixel tablet + dock design ..Are you going to plug and unplug the lightning connector in landscape view?
or only be allowed to dock it in portrait mode, like those lightning dock alarm clock?
Technically there probably are already existing lightning speaker docks, but connecting and disconnecting it is more of a hassle than the the google magnetic connector. They would have to buy new iPad (with new dock connector) or new ipad implemented with magsafe but that is rumour to only be for the ipad pro
So this would result in two very expensive new purchases. This is probably why Apple has not released an Apple dock yet.
@pinkybrain: long long time ago, JBL had this product
https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/jbl-onbeat-micro-wireless-s…
speaker that has lightning port connector….
@jimsh: yeah but not for ipad
it's been ozbargained no stock left!
Does anyone know if these can connect to Bluetooth speakers?
