    isnt it 8/256?

    • My mistake, corrected.

    • +1

      there is also 12/256 version. F5 Pro has 256GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM, 512GB 12GB RAM versions.

  • +3

Much better processor than my Poco F3. I'm feeling inadequate. Must buy this.

    https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/qualcomm-snapdragon-87…

    Nah, can't be bothered.

    • +1

Same boat myself. Just a better main camera with OIS and bigger battery than my F3. Not an upgrade from last year's model either.

    • im on Poco F1, the security upgrades stopped recently so cant open teams anymore, so this will be a good upgrade for me :D

    • +2

You need F5 pro, not the F5

  • +1

    wow this is impressive

  • +1

    headphone jack!

is this currently the best mobile at the price range?

    • seems to be for this segment according to the promo release yesterday. The Poco F5 pro does NOT have 3.5mm jack though, but has wireless charging, better video (8k).

    • -3

I think the Motorola edge fusion is a better product but only has 128gb storage.

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/motorola-edge-30-fusion-5…

      • +2

less efficient processor, smaller battery capacity, no headphone jack too

  • +6

    No wireless charging 😒

    No microSD 😒

Remember when $550 was nearing premium and $300 had more features than this? I remember

    • $550 was nearing premium and $300 had more features than this

      On release day?

      • +1

Yes my Nexus 5 was $349 and had magnetic Qi charging years before Apple """invented""" it. All of my "premium" devices were in the $600-800 range (Nokia N900, Dell Streak, Galaxy Note, Xperia Z3+. Xperia Z5) until Apple proved that most consumers are morons and the "premium" market become a complete joke and that morons would pay more for less.

After that all of the devices with actual features moved into the $400 category (Samsung A series, these Aliexpress brands etc) and the "premium" market gave up entirely since most people see "NUMBER GO UP. 11 BETTER THAN 10".

And now that people buy phones without the features they want, they've thoughtfully engineered a $300 (now ONLY $90!!) solution like this 600 Ohm "high power" headphone amp to add a 3.5mm jack to your phone. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/773655

You know what else cost $300 and has a 600Ohm headphone jack? My entire LG V30+

    • The Poco F5 pro has 30W wireless charging, but at the cost of the 3.5mm jack :D

Both no microSD, Poco F5 pro has 512MB version.

      • +1

Yep, they're all artificially limited in some way. So irritating

  • +1

Might have to keep an eye on this for next upgrade. Awesome to still see a headphone jack on a new phone

    • that was one of the key things for me (3.5mm jack).

  • This is a Global version? all the other phones the stores sells seems to highlight 'Global Version' but i cant seem to see it on this one?

    • +1

      yes this is global version

  • +1

I thought this had the top of the line snapdragon gen 2 + processor, its close but its the snapdragon 7 not the 8 gen 2, just in case others missed this.

    • its a high end-midrange phone with low-mid price (flagship killer if you may). The Poco F5 PRO has 8 gen1, which has very similar antutu scores to the 7gen+2. Flagships with 8gen2 expect to pay 2x-2.5x the price (xiaomi 13, S23, S23 ultra)

      • +1

Yeah I understand this, was just letting people know as I made that mistake before checking reviews, also is the price in the deal with GST added?

        • I'm getting a few dollars/cents difference, but approximately $548.36 item cost, deduct $10.50 sellers discount, deduct 37.52 store coupon/codes, add $50.03 tax, totalling $550.38.

          • +1

@dawong85: Thanks, yeah thats what I got too, just checking

  • What's the "super price" countdown on the page? Does that mean it will get slightly cheaper in (currently) 2h 7m?

    • not sure about the super price countdown, but according to poco, they have an early bird deal for first week (ending 16 May).

      • +1

OK, thanks. I'll wait 2h and see what happens. 😅

        • +1

lol they reduced price by $6 USD then removed the stock store discount which was the same i think, also added -$30 code instead of $-25….meh

  • +1

how hard is it to keep headphone jack and wireless charging? i am super annoyed these days all phone manufacturers don't include wireless charging just for the sake of price segmentation.

  • EU power adapter I assume?

    • not sure, but likely

  • +1

    US $30.00 Off now

  • Specs may be good but still $500+ is too much

See this Moto Edge 30 5G 8GB ram/128GB storage; currently on special for $349 from your local JB
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/motorola-edge-30-5g-128gb…

    • I think this is just the going price now, the only sub $400 phones are stock clearance or feel cheap

    • +1

thats a decent phone. Quick check on specs the antutu score (if that matters to you), is 541,618 versus 969,903, almost twice the punch

  • +1

Been waiting for this one, got the Pro with first 300 buyer special, replacements for our mi9's. Would have gotten the non-pro if it had wireless charging… but I've seen enough snapped usb ports to pay the premium.

    • +1

cries in Poco F2 flex cable/mainboard

    • +1

So tempting to get the 12gb/512gb @ ~$760 with that huge store discount..

  • +2

    The POCOF5 code has expired.

  • +1

Code doesn't work - "These codes have already been claimed"

  • almost pull the trigger. My son said it has a motherboard issue, is it?

    • xiaomi mb issue reported in 2021 in forums, hopefully sorted by now.

    • +2

I think those were mostly X series issues (X3 in particular). This is the F series tho - they wouldn't take a Redmi with known problem and rebrand it to Poco considering this is meant to be their primary highest spec device. I only ordered today $598 AUD :( I am not worthy of being an Ozbargainer….

They did find out why, the solder used in the mounting of soc to motherboard dried/melts after long periods of high temperature. So that ought to be easily fixed in later models.

Tip with MIUI updates tho - definitely turn auto update off, and wait for a month after everyone else has done theirs, THEN do yours…in case the new firmware F-up.

      • thanks for the response.

  • Sale is back on! picked up one at $533
