      not super fast for data
Odd. Specs say it supports up to 5Gbps

      • Can it switch fast

      • +1

        5GB/s

        • +2

I know it does say that but we all know that isn't true.

    • +1

      Does it include USB cables?

      • +1

        yes, 2x a-a 1x micro-a

a-a for connecting hub to PC, micro for power

        • Thanks.

  • I grabbed one a week ago since the price was cheap. Still waiting on it to arrive so can’t comment on it.

    • +6

      Thanks for letting us know

      • +2

I wouldn’t recommend a Kogan product until I tried it personally

The Kogan looks the same in the photo as the UGreen USB switch for $33.74 on Amazon.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Computers-Peripheral-Switch…

The only issue is buying from Kogan makes me feel dirty.

    • +3

You need to be a kogan first member too to get that price. Normal price is 50 + delivery. Kogan first trial is only 14 days too so you gotta remember to cancel it or bang they got you.

      • Yeah, I joined just for that and will delete the membership when prompted…

      • I've found that occasionally when a Kogan deal pops up, I view it, and randomly there's a Kogan free trial item in my cart.. I think I've had about 3 free trials now. Not sure why they end up there. Anyone else find this?
Edit: I was just able to add the "free trial" to my cart again and go to checkout. What's the deal? Does Kogan just let you do as many free trials as you want??

        • +1

          This is normal

        • -2

that is not possible. Haven't experienced that yet.

          • +1

@ninohax: I've had 5 trials so far looking at my order history, some quite close together, for example sept 2021, oct 2021.
edit: and I've got another in my cart now, but won't "purchase" it ($0) unless something comes up thats worth buying and has free shipping with KF

        • +1

I was also offered a second free trial last year yet I was charged the full yearly fee ($59 I think) after completing my purchase. I then had to contact their customer service who said there is only one free trial available per Kogan account however they would refund me this time only as I had taken a screenshot of the free trial offer in my cart just in case.

          • @Palindrome777: I haven't had any issue cancelling the trial before it rolls over to the actual paid subscription, but can imagine their CS might be reluctant to refund one.
Unless you mean you were on the free trial, then charged the moment you ordered something? Cos that's crazy and it's on them if they're giving out multiple free trials

            • +1

@DeToxin: I’ve also noticed that the 14 days trials seem to keep going after the 14 days lately. Maybe a glitch in their system. I did remove the credit card and added another disposable one though. Maybe that had something to do with it

              • +1

@beastontheroad: As long as you're getting the free shipping more power to you 👏

            • @DeToxin: Yes, it was charged as soon as I placed the order with my second free trial. Just glad I took a screenshot of the offer

    • buying from Kogan makes me feel dirty

      Why?

    • -1

UGreen USB switch does not include microUSB cable for power. I currently have the Ugreen one and have web cam, keyboard and mouse connected to it. Without the extra power from microUSB cable, the devices can cut off few milliseconds. Disconnecting the web cam did not help so I would say microUSB cable is a must. So this Kogan one may be a better choice since it includes the microUSB cable.

UGreen USB switch does not include microUSB cable for power.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Computers-Peripheral-Switch…

        The last dot point says:

Stable Connection: USB 3.0 sharing switch with a separate micro usb female port for option power, which optimizing its compatibility with more devices, such as HDD,Digital Video Cameras, SSD etc. Important Note: Please use Standard 5V Adapter(Not Included, sold separately) for powering. Any charger with higher voltage output is Not allowed and may affect the product performance.

        • Not sure what point you are making. My point was that Ugreen does not include the microUSB cable whereas Kogan one does and hence could be a better value 😅

Thanks OP. I'm in need of products to justify my Kogan First membership I accidentally let auto-renew.

    • +5

      oof - they got ya!

    • +3

i feel you man. got pinged the same way as well. haha

    • +2

Yep, I got rolled too lol

    • +1

Tick the remind before 3 days of renewal box or use a disposable credit card to avoid this

    • I was able to refund mine 2 days after it renewed.

      • Nice! I tried the same but all I got was an automated response.

        • +1

Reply HELP to the automated response email and you should get a real response in a day or so. Also keep pushing the issue with Kogan help as they often don’t fix the problem on the first contact. They’ll try and brush you off.

  • Many thanks OP. I need it for fixed sitting and standing desks.

  • Kind of odd there's a Micro USB in port.

    • +4

Not odd at all, it's there to provide power to the high power peripherals that need it (RGB keyboards, etc)

    • That connector type needs to die.

    • +1

      Says this in the description

      Micro USB port
Featuring a separate micro USB female port, this hub is compatible with a range of devices including HDD, digital video cameras and SSDs.

Typically these connections are used to power hubs as you mentioned.

I’ll find out what is actually does when it arrives

    • UPDATE

It has arrived and the micro-usb is in fact for powering it as you would expect. The Kogan description is a mess. Which is not unusual.

  • I think Kogan Reward Pts is glitched and not usable at the moment. Paid by Ultimate Home before it may be OOS.

  • I trust this hub can provide more power to its ports than a regular USB 2.0 hub? My hub is 2.0 and the devices sometimes konk out from a lack of power.

  • +2

    Kogan $5 deals —> $7 deals —> $10 deals

  • +2

Have one to switch between work laptop and personal desktop. Works a treat, I run my wireless mouse dongle, keyboard, mic & webcam through it.

  • Will this work for sharing a wireless keyboard/mouse via the usb dongle/receiver?

  • I really wish there were USB 3 switches that have the USB ports all on the one side. It would make it soo much easier and neater than having them come out both ends..

  • missed out on this :-/
