May is usually when there's a better deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/700309

    • +4

I wouldn't say usually. Last May was the only May the half price deal happened. But here's hoping

    • Mobile prices have increased since then so can't see that type of price happening again soon unfortunately

    • Inflation up 6.8% since last May

      • I'm pretty impressed that amaysim hasn't raised the prices yet.
Telstra, Boost Mobile, Woolworths Mobile, Vodafone are the ones I know who have raised prices. Not very sure about the other telcos.

  • +3

Not a very good deal considering how much better they've been in the past.

  • +3

    New mobile services only.

    • +7

The same as every other sim deal posted on here.

      • +2

        every other

That's why I'm pointing out that this one is for new services.

Anticipating more negs: "every other" means "every second", not "all (the) others" and yes, I'm being cheeky.

  • I'm on a similar plan and the call quality is crap (WA). Get what you pay for, I guess!

    • +2

It has VoLTE so quality should be fine. Maybe it's more to do with your signal strength.

Optus is better for me than Telstra so I guess it depends on your location.

      • +1

Definitely location dependant! The business I work for tried changing to Optus to save money.. lasted a month before we went crawling back to Telstra.

        • Omg yeah. I tried calling a business in Dandenong who's with Optus… Always cuts out. Am told to just email ack.

Also Vodafone apparently doesn't service well if you go the truly regional high up in the mountains slightly isolated. Thinking to get Telstra for an online business and use it when I'm going camping hiking far off lol

  • +1

Signal quality has become very poor in CBD and some eastern suburbs. Not sure if it's because of amaysim or optus in general.

    • which city?

  • They also have $20 per month for two months for 80 g per month ($40 after 2 months). Expires 5 th may

  • Anyone noticed that Amaysim pulled the WWS 119 plan page from their website?
    https://www.amaysim.com.au/119

I bought one from last deal and haven’t activate it yet. Not sure if the plan can still be activated at all. The package says activate within 12 months of purchase, but also says the inclusions and renewal period will depends on the plan you select.

    • +1

Yes, i observed, the page has been taken off since Sat, 22-Apr, and I also posted a Forum article about it on 26-Apr, but got no responses there :P

amaysim Ending Their Popular $119 Woolies Exclusive Plan?

I think this is the best value plan currently, with International Inclusions. The only other that comes close is the Coles 60GB $99 Annual Plan, but well, there's a great difference in the Customer Care, App / Website UI and features (Coles Mobile doesnt have an app at all), Refer a Friend offers, etc.

      • +1

Coles Mobile does have an app. The number of features in it are pretty minimal though.

      • Coles are currently selling a $119 annual plan, with 120GB(double the amount). And you can role over 50GB, international, etc.

And yes Coles does have an app.

        • Thanks, I've added the Coles $119 120 GB Plan to the Comparison table in OP.

  • +1

Catch mobile still on special $89 if don’t want got through cash rewards

  • Bit confused. T&C says

Purchase between 12.01am (AEST) on 1 May 2023 to 11.59pm (AEST) on
    30 June 2023 and activate by 15 July 2023

But there is also "ends 05 May" on the linked page. Is that the Cashrewards part of the deal?

    • +1

The end od May 5th is the Amaysim $20 off deal

  • +2

Had Amaysim but always issues with reception (ie no reception inside shops). Switched to Woolworths mobile and
never looked back. Costs about $5 more a month, but has more data and since I use the 10% off shop 2x a month, it pays for itself.

    • How do you get 2 X 10% off a mth? I thought it was only once.

      • +3

If you do the first shop online, you can subsequently use 10% off at the shop in person.

If you however use it at the shop in person first, it doesn’t work online. So always do it online first.

        • +1

Oh wow, I didn't know this! Thanks!

        • So dumb to discuss this here now wait and let Woolworths staff report it and everyone will lose the benefits… ,!

        • LoL

Woolworths removing 10% discount with their membership…. !

        • Not long ago I said not to talk about this loophole on ozb… As Woolworths has spy on ozb to catch up … !

          https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/consumers-fu…

    • I get terrible reception with them too (Canberra and Brisbane).

  • I’ve been happy with Amaysim’s customer service in the past, but the reception sucks. I’m porting back to Boost today after getting the iPhone 12 mini deal a few months ago and suffering with Optus coverage.

  • +1

In case you haven’t used Amaysim before, they get you put in your credit card details and they save them before you can activate the service. While you can remove them at a later date, they’re usually hoping you don’t so they can auto renew you service. Still it’s a pain considering it’s supposed to be ‘pre-paid’

    • catch connect do this too

    • +1

Kogan Mobile does too, and you don't have an option to remove unless you call them

  • +1

As a may customer from 2022 they offered me another 50GB and $30 credit to renew this plan. Just FYI.

    • That's a great deal.
As a previous purchaser for a family member to use the 50% off $120 365 plan, they've allowed it to be renewed again for another year at 50% it seems.

    • That's so nice, how did you get that? I did live chat to them, they only offered me the promo, not the 50GB and $30 credit.

  • +1

Works out only $7 cheaper than the Woolworths Mobile yearly deal for 125GB
    https://mobile.woolworths.com.au/plans/long-expiry-plans

However, the Amaysim sim does not pay for itself in a monthly 10% discount off groceries. In fact, the Woolworths sim might even make you a profit since the competing grocers may be no longer cheaper than Woolworths (at least for my shopping cart they weren't after paying with 4% discounted gift cards and points boosters)

Can't really see any sim that competes with the Woolworths 365 day sim any more except maybe the discounted Kogan one, with the condition that you only shop strictly at Coles and Aldi.

    • +1

The woolworths one is showing as $170 for me

      • +1

My mistake, I thought this was 180 days for some reason.

    • Woolworths mobile no longer better deal for real ozbargainer … !

      • Not since their price hike happened

  • +5

+1 for all the comparisons. In the market for a new 12-mth sim.

  • The page shows 5th May as the end date but the T&C shows it as end of June.
"Purchase between 12.01am (AEST) on 1 May 2023 to 11.59pm (AEST) on 30 June 2023 and activate by 15 July 2023"

  • 2 sim cards are due soon 1 on 25 May and 1 on 3 June. Fingers crossed whether I wait for a better deal or buy now

    • Both amaysim/both same carrier?

      • 1 amaysim and 1 Lyca

  • Can I use esim on this one?

    • +2

consider using physical sim for your home base, so you can use esim for abroad travel. Most phones can only have 1 e-sim active at a time - so if you can effectively have dual sim when travelling - still being able to get SMS one-time-pin that visa and mastercard sends e.g. when purchasing tickets while abroad, and the local esim at the destination both active at the same time. It's so handy.

If you're relying on the local esim for data, you'd have to switch the esim off and on back and forth during that purchase process - a complete pain.

      • Thanks for the good idea. I am thinking of this for my parents whose home base is overseas.

      • But an overseas physical SIM would be more available

        • yes, true, but more annoying. there's now dedicated travel esim stores which are sometimes decently priced, or in places where there's not much esim, exorbitantly priced. but the point is that it's available at any time with little fuss on registration, etc. convenience I guess.

      • -1

consider using physical sim for your home base, so you can use esim for abroad travel.

A dual-e/SIM phone, with the primary/Australian mobile number on an eSIM, gives the flexibility of adding a physical and/or another digital SIM

Most phones can only have 1 e-sim active at a time

iPhones can have 2 eSIMs active, or 1 eSIM and 1 physical SIM

Using a Mobile phone Overseas – eSIM, Travel SIM, International Roaming

  • must be activated within 20 days from purchase date

    Deals me out.

    Thanks anyway OP

  • Anyone know if the new roaming (https://www.amaysim.com.au/plans/28-day-sim-plans/internatio…) plans are available with a 365 prepaid sim?

Edit: Never mind, just realised all amaysim plans are prepaid

  • So this is for new customers only? Can’t be used to recharge?

    • Good question.

  • Can I port from Woolworths mobile to this? As Woolworths are selling the same thing?

    • +1

Yes, you can port from Woolworths Mobile.
Amaysim is a different telco. Woolworths being a supermarket sells SIM Packs of several telcos, and their own as well.

  • Does this include unlimited calls to the Philippines?

  • +1

currently use this plan and the network is extremely bad….calls always gets disconnected while talking and mobile data is slow or not reachable.

    • My child have used them in the last 2 years and they have been fine for us (South Sydney).

    • +1

I have been on the optus network for 2 years. As soon as I switched to boost I experienced the issues that you were reporting. I suppose it is heavily location-based.

  • +1

Would be nice to have last year's deal, thanks OP

    • +1

Would be nice if inflation wasnt hitting the roof either but it is and ur dollar isnt worth as much as it was last year

      • It’d be nice if mortgage rates didn’t keep rising :(

  • -1

Run this for your phone number as an e-sim, then use https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/771007 for your data. If you have 10,000 Telstra Plus points you can buy a $80 Belong starter kit and get 5 months free. Or 6 with a Belong referral code.

    • +1

Not sure if my issue is related to yours, but I've been waiting for my number to port over from Boost (Telstra) to Optus for close to two weeks. No-one from both sides are able to explain what the issue is, and I've had to contact the TIO to get this resolved. It's not a name/DOB mismatch issue either, so this is super frustrating.

  • Says new customers - so you cant churn from Amaysim number to this deal?

  • +2

Thanks OP @djoz for your "Comparison with other 365-Day SIM Deals available"
    Helpful info.

  • Hi can anyone tell me I am existing Amaysim customer can I get new number so I can get the special discount?

    • I am an existing customer. I asked via chat if they would honour this deal, they declined. I think asked for a discount and was offered $20 credit. So pretty much the same discount minus cashrewards. Mine was due for renewal tomorrow, so I needed something quickly.

  • The $10 referral credit is it cashback or $10 credit for another plan?

    • The $10 is added to your main balance after you activate your SIM. So, you can't use this credit toward your first month / first period of plan (1 year in this case). However, you can use it when you next renew, and this credit can be applied.
Eg: After 1 year when your current plan expires, you may add $20 to main balance and then activate a $30 Plan on your amaysim.

  • +1

+1 for the table and effort of pulling all those deals together

  • +1

Sorry if this had already been asked somewhere: can we have a page on the wiki with that comparison table? I find it very useful and could potentially be extended to include a lot of the other popular deals like Mates, Kogan and Felix. Some of us might prefer month-to-month to long expiry.
