Should we trust a site that can't even add an "Add to Cart" button?

  • Hi sorry ill fix the issue and post this deal again

    • With free shipping?

      • +2

        no,

  • +1

    Add to cart working now.

  • $22 postage to Brisbane, still not a terrible deal, thinking of grabbing one to use as a plex server

      • -1

If only 8th gen I’d of jumped on that, I realise for plex it’s not going to make a tonne of difference but if I keep my various machines at 8th gen and above I always have a backup for remote working if one fails (work mandates 8th gen plus)

          lol i5-8500

Ooopht, when under $200 I’ll bite..

How many HDD Bays would available to be added?

    • +1

Seems it has one 3.5” bay that can convert to two 2.5” trays. And 2 x M.2 connectors

      • TA, So in lay man lang, it can only accommodate 1 3.5" HDD apart from the SSD it's coming with?

        • +1

I guess if you don’t need the CD drive you could remove that and should have another 3.5” bay

been looking into these SFF pc's over the past week…key observations/checklist to consider:

    • M.2 SSD 256GB included as boot drive - frees up bays for HDD/SSD storage
    • 1x16GB single RAM stick - makes upgrade cheaper and again keep slots free
    • Aim for $250 including shipping - with current ebay codes should get closer to the $230 mark SFF (dell/lenovo incluided)
    • you may need DP/display port to HDMI adapters - around $4 each on ebay
    • min 3 month RTB warranty for peace of mind
    • Included Windows 10 BIOS keys can easily be upgraded to Win11, with 8th gen officially supported without hacks
    • +1

      good checklist

      • i meant

Aim for $250 including shipping FOR i5/8500/8th gen // 16GB RAM // 256GB Boot Drive - with current ebay codes should get closer to the $230 mark SFF (dell/lenovo incluided)

obviously older gen can be had for under $100

16Gb RAM is pushing it I think - far more common to see these specs with 8Gb RAM. Since another 8Gb is only ~$25 new, not worth paying much extra for 16Gb.

I got one a few days ago, ended up with 16Gb but at least it came with a GT730 thrown in, so easy enough to sell that for a bit of cash to make up the difference.

          • @Alzori: a single 16gb stick is worth around $50 - makes upgrading to 32gb more cost effective

          • @Alzori: agree…thats why ppl should push the seller to either include in price or not pay much extra for it to be included IMO

      • yeah, only thing to add might be how many USB 3 ports ….
whats' better the HP, dell or lenovo in gen 8 or better ?

    • I wouldn't assume that these are 1x 16GB stick.
Nor would I assume that these are including a M.2 drive.

      • It got 4 slots anyways, probably better with 2x8 to get dual channel. Then add another pair of 8 or 16s if you really want more.

At 256gb, it doesn't really matter if its M2 or sata, it will get replaced anyways. A lot of these drives get used fairly hard, on 24/7 and filled to the brim, so minimal write balancing. So I wouldn't even use it as boot.

      • yep thats why i put up a checklist for ppl so they can ask such questions of the seller

Is the 250gb SSD installed from the factory or is it an aftermarket installation? What model SSD is it?

    • Some generic OEM from one of the major manufacturers, Samsung, Micron, Toshiba etc. When Dell/HP etc sells it originally they only specify a performance class and insert a random brand.

Most 6/7th gen systems onwards would have SSD from the factory, and its probably default by 8th.

      • Yeah I get the OEM spec SSD installed in these units. I was more inquiring about whether the OEM SSD from Dell/HP is retained or an aftermarket SSD is installed by the refurbisher.

        • They won't bother to replace the SSD unless it died. Just wipe and reinstall windows. Even if they replace it, it will be salvaged from spare parts machine.

  • Is pickup an option?

  • I paid $239 for the equivalent Lenovo with 8gb RAM recently from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770435?page=2#comment-1368…

Great little machine - CPU seems to have plenty of power for everyday tasks.

I haven't compared dimensions but the HP looks slightly bigger. Flipside is that it seems to fit more things inside.

The 2 x DP ports is nice, as you can do 4k @ 60hz whereas HDMI on the Lenovo can't.

The computer you quoted is a gen 6 cpu mini computer and not supported for windows 11. This one is 8th gen sff and is supported for windows 11.

  • Can these handle 3x monitors?

  • I just want to get these straight from the source and handle the 'refurbishment' myself!

Need something in a full tower size so I can add a proper graphics card - got anything similar?

    • -2

Why would you downvote this? These come in min, sff and mid-size tower. I'm asking if OP has same spec in the bigger form factor?

  • -2

Do you have USFF with similar specs?

  • +1

I know this guy. I went tafe with him.

  • How many PCIe lanes do the connectors on this have? I recall some of the other SFFs have terrible PCIe lanes which really limits using add in boards.

Anybody else getting an error on the website? I hope the people who went for this get their orders.. Feels a bit suss to me 🫤
