Waiting for people to complain that 64gb isn't enough for their primary school age children :)

Im calling child services if one does not buy their kid the 1TB m2 ipad pro. /s

Waiting for people to complain it was 399 a year ago

Mine have 32 and fine with that

It's more than enough for my grade 3, but my grade 4 does a lot of art on Procreate, does Skillshare tutorials which store several gbs on the device, creates videos and does other things that use up her storage and I would have preferred to get one with more storage than have to go through it with her every couple of weeks to try to free up space. Even when we clear out the stuff she doesn't need anymore she only has 5-10gb available which gets filled up again quickly. Our kids don't do any gaming, but if they did I imagine it would be a struggle with 64gb as well.

  • You can price match officeworks comes to $424.65 not bad for the 64 9th gen.

EDIT: Nvm they already matched 447 rip

  • Can it ship oversea?

  • +4

Am I the only one who thinks it's kinda (profanity) how they price differentiates on storage capacity that costs like a few dollars to like $50 in cost between 64GB and 2TB.

Similarly, the 4G/5G that is again a few dollars difference but oh no that's an extra 20%.

    • +2

Read some propaganda about that a while ago. The cheaper models are closer to cost price so that the poors less advantaged people can afford them and the dearer models are for people with a more expendable income and the inflated price helps keep the prices of the budget ones down, or something like that.

      • +7

Now I feel guilty being so frugal always buying the base models with my non-poverty level disposable income, instead of supporting Apple’s beneficence.

        • +7

You should feel guilty. Apple does everything because it cares.

          • @Shoocat: Well, Apple is probably held to account for its vanity more than most companies, but as well as caring, it believes margins are holy writ too.

    • +4

Its a physiological marketing and pricing strategy apple are famous for, makes people spend more money.

      • Every Ozbargainer, or at the very least the frugal ones, should understand the basics of pricing strategy along in addition to their own needs when making purchases.

      • This is it. Once you are reaching out for them 256GB you know that an air might be better for you because you’re not a beginner.

    • Price discrimination this way is how companies legally profit maximise. Not defending it, just saying it is pervasive.

Why are you repeating this FUD when you've already been debunked here?

        • +7

You're being disrespectful inflicting FUD on the community when all evidence suggests that you're wrong.

    • +1

It's "disrespectful" to disagree with you and your poorly formed opinion? This is an open discussion forum, people can and will express their views- differing or not. That's not disrespectful. You've made the outlandish claim that "iPad is a low end product". That's ridiculous and without basis. People are going to disagree with you on it. That's not disrespect. Other manufacturers emulate the iPad's continued success and wish they could be as good. For all of Apple's restrictiveness, the iPad is very clearly not a low end product.

What IS disrespectful however is preemptively casting insult back onto the entire OzBargain community for no reason, and its no wonder you've received so many negative votes because of it.

      • Respect my authoritah!

You're asking for downvotes, coming in here with a poorly formed opinion and terrible reasoning.

it is likely that it will not to receive IOS update in near future

You mention "near future", and then the only "evidence" you provide is a rumour about a 6 year old iPhone possibly not getting a new update. 6 years in the technology industry is definitely not considered the near future. You then later say "it is likely that they will not be supported in new iPad OS in a couple of years?". So which one is it now? A couple of years or the "near future".

Your argument is asking for disrespect. You're all over the place.

Let me show my evidence that it is rumoured that iPhone X is perhaps not going to receive IOS 17 update. While this iPad uses the same A13 chip with iPhone 11, anything wrong to make a guess that it is likely that they will not be supported in new iPad OS in a couple of years?
    https://tech.hindustantimes.com/tech/news/bad-news-on-ios-17….

    • Not going to downvote you, because that's actually your objective in trying to gain attention by being a total imbecile here.

But let's have a look at your claim here - iPhone X is a 6 year old product. even IF the rumour was true that they will no longer support it in a future iOS update, then so what? Most of the people already had a good cycle of updates already and way more than its competitors. I am no Apple lover (I hate the brand and their ethics, but do respect some of their hardware). But if it is one thing they have done right is the extended support which is industry leading.

People perfectly capable of making their own decisions about buying a much older model with obvious limited life support it brings along the way.

  • Will the 64GB do any favour when it comes down to the bigger and bigger updates from Apple?
I feel they’re clearing stock because updates need at least a minimum of space nowadays.

    • +3

Depends what you use it for. Consumption only and you stream everything it is more than enough.
Any serious work (eg GIS, design, video, imagery) using large files, no.

      • Then does pairing 64gb with icloud+ plans make it alright for creation purpose? (making short videos, take notes, etc). I'm torn betw 256gb or 64gb+icloud.

        • If any doubt, go up a size.

    • +2

Nah iPadOS only uses about 12GB, it'll be fine.

  • seems to be back up to $536

    • +1

Only the space grey, silver 64GB still showing at $447.

  • Does this deal end Amazon/JB-HiFi when they are out of stock (I don't see an end date)? Conflicted at the moment given I am after the Ipad Air in Space Grey (risk of running low or no stock) but am expecting a new credit card to arrive within next few days which I was looking to use to meet spend threshold for bonus points (use to buy apple gift cards with the 20x Everyday Rewards offer or the 10% bonus on Ultimate gift cards to redeem for the Ipad).

It's possible that even if they are out of stock Apple will still do a price match in person if you show the offer correct? Sorry new bargainer here!

Pretty sure that Apple pricematch policy is up to 10% unless it changed since last time I asked, as in they will match someone else only up to 10%. Price on apple webite is $549.00

BIG W Apple Giftcards + Apple pricematch
So if you buy a ipad 9 gen on apple is is $549x0.9 = 494.1, then 10% of giftcards of big W 494.1x0.9 = 444.69, only saving $2.31, better just buying it direct from officeworks or JB Hifi as time to go and get giftcards from Big W is worth more than $2.31!

Coles Apple Giftcards + Apple pricematch
If you bought the coles giftcards then it would be worth it to get apple to pricematch 549x0.9 = 494.1 then 494.1x0.85 = 419.99

    • just called apple, up to 10% of the full price discount only. simply make purchase from JB or OW

  • Still at $447 at Officeworks

  • thank you for this!
