Shipping coming in at $13 for me (Melbourne).
So cheaper from Centre.com $319 with free shipping.
    https://www.centrecom.com.au/team-mp34-4tb-pcie-30-x4-with-n…

(NB maybe it reduces when you sign in with log-in details given the stated free delivery over $200?)

Thanks finally pulled the trigger $304 delivered via ebay!

  • How does it compare to the PNY CS2241?

    • +3

This has a lower (peak) speed but better quality.
So I expect more reliable and won’t suffer slowdowns during large writes

      • +3

This one has DRAM but only PCIe Gen 3. PNY doesn’t have DRAM but PCIe Gen 4.

        • +5

TeamGroup is also TLC instead of the (lower quality) QLC with PNY

    • +2

was discussed here a little bit in summary it has DRAM which can increase performance in any application that writes to the drive, PNY will have faster reads being a Gen 4 drive which is also compatible with PlayStation

      • Thanks for explanation!

I was looking for an additional storage drive to put my photos and videos that I edit in Lightroom/Photoshop/Premier Pro. Seems like either option would be fine for that purpose?

        • +2

at such close price MP34 probably the better option, but both will be fine
also if you don't have a Gen4 M.2 slot PNY isn't as appealing

        • With them being so close, go for the MP34 for the higher TBW in the warranty

    • +2

PNY is notably faster when SLC is available.

However Team has double the SLC, so will slow down later in the write.

PNY slows to about 50MBps once SLC is saturated.

      Team slows to 140MBps.

    Under $300 soon I’d say

    Wen sub $200?

  • +1

Finger's starting to twitch, I have two m2 slots waiting to be filled and rationale says stick a couple of these in em, but only when they're pushing $250. Let's see if the willpower holds!

Your mobo sounds like a dirty girl

just curious for an 4tb ssd with dram cache why doesnt this deal have many upvotes?

    • +7

Maybe because Gen3 and the DRAM is actually pretty small, but it's still a good deal for a storage drive.

      • +1

        Makes sense, thank you

    • +2

It's the 3rd of 4th deal for this exact drive in a month - Bit of deal fatigue I imagine.

I would highly recommend to not get it from Scorptec Website and instead buy it from their ebay store. Scorptec seem to be intentionally selling customer data to scammers or they are not aware that their systems have been hijacked by scammers. I made an order through scorptec and the very next day I start receiving phishing/scam emails all related to scorptec from a wide variety of email addresses. Something is seriously messed up with Scorptec.

    • +1

Hah, well, normally I wouldn't believe this kind of chat, but I've also been experiencing random phishing emails and phone calls on my personal mobile in the last two months… And I've also bought something from Scorptec about 2 months ago… Weird coincidence probably but still suspicious because I'm also on the do not call register, so this is extra scummy if intentional

Hey guys, kind of a pc noob and just wanting to get ozbargainers expert opinion.

Currently have a PC with SSD of 500gb.

looking to expand the storage to store movies, tv shows and steam games.. with the large amount of ssd sales what would be the best bang for your buck ssd i can get? not looking to spend too much (no more than 200)

With your budget, you can't go wrong with any of the current 2TB deals. If you want brand name, the Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB is currently on sale (though note the shipping time as its from Amazon UK). But if you want to prioritise budget, there are cheaper options like the PNY CS1031 or Teamgroup MP33, both of which have local stock too.

For your use case, I'd get one of the cheaper ones and call it a day. A lot of the numbers and statistics that are floating around in the comments don't really apply if you are just going to use your drive to store stuff.

Edit: Another option, if the upgrade isn't urgent, is to wait a month or two for the 4TB prices to drop. They are already beginning to crack the $300 mark, so I reckon they won't be too far above your budget soon.

Do you have spare m.2 slots or are you sticking with SATA? Not a great way to get the most value out of an SSD to put movies and shows on it, mechanical is still king in the value dept for media storage. Just for reference, you could get a 2-4tb mechanical and pair it with a basic 1tb ssd boot drive for around that $200 pricepoint with no trouble. If you are dead set on ssd only though maybe ask users like netsurfer

      • i have 1 spare m.2 slot. Im also considering to use it for my boot drive down the track too hence why i would like to go down the ssd route
