Cricut Maker 3 Machine $419.40 Delivered (Free VIP Membership Required, $409.40 for First VIP Order) @ Spotlight

580
WELCOME10

Pretty sweet deal I lucked in on - almost bought it for $550 on eBay last night. Looks like it’s 40% off for VIP day. Couldn’t find a second hand Cricut maker 3 for less than about $550 either, so I’m pretty chuffed about this.

You could probably get even less with Officeworks price match, but I suspect this will sell out fast so it’s probably not worth risking it unless you’re literally next to an Officeworks right now.

Enjoy!

at this price, maker 3! more tool options.

What is this? Like 3d printing, only it uses fabrics and materials?

    • +3

It's a plotter that cuts materials. From a technical POV it's basically a 3d printer that only works in 2 dimensions. I think you're paying for the ecosystem rather than the technology.

      • +10

A 3D printer that identifies as a 2 dimensional tool. Nice.

        • Its not a 3d printer at all, its a silly comparison that shouldnt have been made. Its a good product for people interested in this sort of thing.

        • +1

          Getcha; so it's an it/thems?

    • +4

Laser cutter is a better comparison than 3d printer. A precision way to cut textiles from digital patterns.

  • Would it work at officeworks since the spotlight price is "VIP Club exclusive prices"?

    • They denied me last time for VIP prices saying it required a membership but ymmv

  • Thank you! had an alert on Spotlight for their next 40% off day. Great deal. Also picked up the easy press.

  • Anyone know where to get a replacement power supply for these? We used ours like, once, before my wife lost it.

    • +1

A few people get replacements at Jaycar.

  • thanks OP!
i had my eyes on this for the wifey's birthday and almost bought it a couple days back as well but hoped for the best when i got the sms saying 40% storewide (wasn't sure if the machines were excluded) but pounced on it this morning when i saw the maker 3 was on special!
any recommendations on tools / materials i should get while they're on special as the wifey will be a total noob to this but she'll get onto it quick?

    • Keep the box, for when you get sick of paying for the ridiculously priced consumables.
Or even better, buy it at HN and get the super exteded warrant that includes a straight replacement if it screws up.
That way WHEN it does screw up get the replacement and sell it on marketplace and be glad it is gone.

  • what's the difference between this and a laser cutter?

    • +1

These have removable blades, and are primarily for cutting paper/cardboard and iron on vinyl

      • Ah I see, thanks for the explanation!

        • +1

No worries, its mainly used for arts and crafts, lets say you wanted to make your own paper flowers or shapes, and or your own iron on designs for shirts and bags etc.

      • +1

Worth noting that you can do scoring on these as well, so you can create fold lines on various substrates (not just paper).

  • i thought these things were usually excluded from the sales

  • +5

Called officework head office and did a price match, paid just under 400 with free delivery!

    • Winning.

  • Is this yet another kitchen appliance?

  • +4

Thought OP has misspelled Circuit and this was a 3d printer for making circuit boards.

    • I've seen these used to cut vinyl for circuit board masking so you're not far off

    • So did I and got excited for a minute.

    • Dont start looking it up but it is possible (not with this product) but not worthwhile to do at home from the looks.

  • Ozbargain really is a broad church. 99% of people would have no idea what this is.

  • Thanks OP! Got one :)

  • Time to up my arts and crafts game.

  • So fancy that spotlight dont even include the dimensions 🤣

My wife has the Cricut Explore Air 2. She is really into making custom stuff for gifts, and kids birthday parties and such. She has been complaining that the Explore Air 2 is not capable of doing some of the things she wants, and has been eyeing the Maker 3 for a over a year. Looks like its time to pull the trigger.

  • Just bought one for arty wife. What accessories are recommended to start with?

    • Put a lock on your wallet, the accessories are expensive!

  • +2

Would you be better off using this code? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770536 for $20 off $50?

    • +1

Damn, you couldn't have dropped that link 15 minutes earlier? I already placed my order!

      • Buy some accessories

    • Code wouldn't work for me on the Cricut.

      • Are you logged in and a VIP member?

        • That's the only way to get the price on the Cricut, so yep.

          • @blamesociety: Maybe they disabled it. Might be better to go thd JB price match route.

          • @blamesociety: WELCOME10 worked for me. Then I used the $20 off one to buy some accessories like iron on vinyl.

  • Is this available in 1m wide?
Make trimming car vinyl and window tints a lot easier

    • If you need it that big, then you get a professional machine. Search for "Vinyl Cutter" on your favourite online marketplace.

      Eg, $328 on eBay

Cheaper than OP's bargain, but doesn't come with the accessories and community. But then if all you're wanting is to trim car vinyl and tints ..

      • cool. I thought these would be inthe thousands. thank you
Now if only I could buy the skill for vinyl wrapping

  • Thanks OP. Finally pulled the trigger!

  • Is this the one that teachers go crazy over? I know nothing and looking for a gift.

  • +1

I just phoned up Office works customer service centre. They were able to do it for $398.73 including postage to Rural W.A. They were really lovely and said they have had so many calls today about this machine to beat Spotlights price. Looks like it's getting OzBargained! :-)

  • Cheers OP. Great timing! My wife has wanted one for a long time.

  • +1

    What accessories are must have?

  • Won one of these in a competition I found on Ozbargain.
It's actually pretty cool. The kids have cut labels from vinyl to put of storage boxes. We've made a few self designed greeting cards and simple stuff like birthday voucher books for each other.
If anything I think the closed ecosystem sucks and everything besides a handful of free fonts and basic shapes costs money.

  • Well, i purchased this 4 days ago for $600! Havent collected it yet. I've sent an enquiry to have the price matched.
Doubt they will, but worth a shot.
Think i'll cancel yhe order if they dont honour.

    Damn you Ozbargain!

    • What you needed per project.
Paper craft - papers, cutting mat, glue, etc…
Vinyl craft - vinyls, cutting mat, transfer tape, etc…
Printing - infusible sheets, cutting mat, infusible markers, infusible pens, laser paper, iron-on sheets, easy press mat, easy press, etc…
Printing on totebag using infusible marker - https://youtu.be/GV5pOzmg8Cc

Maker3 also possible to cut wood and leather.
I think there are so many 3rd party products compatible Cricut original. However, if you use Cricut products you don't have to know proper cut pressure value, otherwise, 3rd party or custom materials have to test cut till you got the proper value or buy more cutting mat.
