don't put it in front yard where fast moving objects may be passing by (cars, bikes, jogger.. all becomes a blur). And every damn 5pm, scenery becomes pink due to sunset (even though cam is under eaves and not in direct sunlight). Ended up replacing with a dahua 2mp (which doesn't produce these artifacts such as with the reolink 810).

Link to where you bought your dahua camera from?

      • oh yes sorry if i think of it.. low light situation like in the afternoons were the issue with motion blur. as the other user here pointed out.. sensor size. Also was using it with BlueIris and it can pose a prob with clarity if its not optimized (i have 17 cam around :(). Works better direct with reolink app.

But for 99$ its a good deal having paid 135$ for mine via aliexpress which took 3 weeks.

      • is this camera really that crap compared to the 4mp imou cameras?

    • I rate them highly. Ive used dahua and hikvison and these cameras are comparable in quality at a fraction of the cost.
I installed my own reolink system and was super easy. no issues.
I clearly pick up regos with my added 4x optical zoom camera. which cost me around $200 extra.
small potatoes when a Hikvison system can be $2k+
( capturing registration plates are probably one of the most important features of CCTV system IMO)

      • Which reolink camera models do you own?

        • RLK8-800D4, 811 and a lumus.

          Im considering adding a 823A.

  • I have 5 cameras, 2x511, 2x811 (recent upgrades) and the other is a dome. So I don’t have the 810, but my understanding is the difference between 810 and 811 is the spotlights that come on when movement is detected at night in the 811. For POE the spotlights are very powerful and enables the camera to record in colour whilst they are on. Mine record to synology nas. $99 is a good price. Reolink is not the best but excellent value for money. The cameras are quite heavy and none have broken on me only upgraded to get 4K after we had intruders.

    • Which brand/company do you consider to be the best? Just curious

      • No idea really, check out the reviews on “the hookup” channel on YouTube. The cameras are hopefully a mix of deterrent and event capture. As mentioned below, hoodies and masks at 4K. My backyard cam has caught lots of funny things happening while the kids are playing, can see whose been to the door and the lead up without subscribing and generally keep an eye on the house at work etc.

    • Now you can get a man of average height in a black hoodie in 4K

      • Wearing a mask! Cause he’s health conscious

  • That's a chuckle - "1m network cable" in one part of the description and "One 10M/100Mbps, RJ45" in another part.

You might need to put it very close to your NVR either way.

    • i have this model on a 30m run with no issues. The supplied cables are more so for testing - no one would use them for a proper installation.

    • It's comes with a 1m cable and the port is capable of 10 or 100 Mbps speeds. The 10M is 10 Mbps not 10 meters.

The 1m cable is for if you have RJ45 outlets already installed next to he camera location or for connecting the NVR to a patch panel port.

  • These will perform poorly in low light, which is probably important to most people. The cameras here are 8MP and have 1/2.49" sensors which is way too small. Also, this shape of camera is prone to attracting spiders, which build webs that can obstruct the view/cause focus issues.

    • It’s interesting that in a lot of tests lower res cameras (eg 5mp) work as well or better than 4K cameras in the dark. It’s something about the the higher resolution picking up or creating more noise.

The 4K will of course look better in daylight.

I was interested in changing over to Dahuas with “starlight” but it seems to achieve that better low light function, they slow the shutter way down, which would mean lotsa blurs.

      • The reason most often is sensor size and price point. 4K cameras with a 1/1.2” sensor look good in low light, but they cost a bunch.

Dahua 5442 (4MP) is more than enough for almost everyone’s needs IMO. Comparison video here, even the 2MP being compared in the video looks great.
