I know this game has its memes, detractors and the like and rightfully so. The level design is horrid, the gameplay can feel repetitive and the stat upgrades feel misguided. However, this game can truly make you feel like an Avenger at times, especially once you unlock all of your characters core abilities.
If you were a fan of the MCU Phases I - III, you owe it to yourself to experience the single player campaign in this game at the very least.
The story telling, characterizations and interactions/introductions are all very well done.Our whole family did the Beta to earn the Fortnite Hulk Hands pickaxe cosmetic. That was more than enough. It was a frustrating button masher.
So just watch all the cutscenes on Youtube and we'll be better off?
Campaign is fun. Worth your time if you enjoy fun superhero games. You're definitely better getting Spider-Man if you have a PC or PS4/5, the open world, longer better story, free roamy stuff, all that, much better value…but this game is still quite fun. Honestly the only complaints I have are Spider-Man being locked to PS4/5, and the install size. It's (profanity) insane for a game that doesn't even have a full open world city, to be a hundred odd gig. I installed Gotham Knights the other day, picked it up for $9 at EB, it's 43gb, got a similar length campaign, 4 different heroes not unlike the different Avengers in this game, and a massive ass open world to boot…43gb, Series X version.
I'd happily have kept this on my Xbox (since the PS2 emulator is gone and I no longer have Spider-Man 2 on there), if it didn't take up to much goddamn room. Got it for the Steamdeck for this price via Humble a couple weeks back, will give it a go on there when I finish Doom Eternal and free up another 90 odd gig space. Wish I'd have got it from Steam direct here, at least I could return it if it does end up running like shit on Deck, I've heard mixed things.

Yup, has been for a hot minute. Can't see it magically staying on there after the September shutdown date though, since despite still working, it's being delisted, so get in while you can.
I would only recommend that if you can’t get into the main game itself. There are certain story beats that occur in-game outside of the cutscenes.
