  • Will this be OK for raising a large SUV (Mazda CX-9) ? I've got a 1600kg toolpro one and it struggles with each corner, barely get the tires off the ground.

    • -1

      Mazda CX-9/Kerb weight
      1,881 to 2,010 kg

A shiver went down my spine.

      • Thanks

      • +1

Considering it's a large 7 seater wagon, I'm not surprised at its weight

      • +5

@gbinitt Why would you shiver? they're not trying to balance the whole car on the jack, they're only lifting a corner or end of the vehilce so maximum you'd be lifting is 1000kg.
No danger in using a 1600kg jack @bozzabear.

        • Yeah I only raise each corner, throw a stand under and lower it. Only do front or back, never raised the whole car.

Hmmm I wonder then why my 1600kg is struggling to get up to a decent height… Max height is 375mm according to website but I feel it's way lower than that before it struggles (I feel like if i try and crank it up more it'll pop)

          • +1

@bozzabear: Perhaps more a reflection of the max height the 1600KG jack can lift to, rather than it's weight capability, even though the height is further than when you say it starts to struggle, it may be a function of how far through it's stroke(?) it is and when it's at it's most effective.

It'll be more than capable and alot easier especially with the twin cylinder lift. I use my 2T jack to lift my patrol up from the axles and it does it more than easily enough

    • maybe get the 3ton all steel one? way heavier, but similar price when on sale.

    • how high does the toolpro one lift?

This one goes to Max Height Range: 465mm

Should give an idea or reference point

  • How does this compare to the toolpro jack from a few weeks ago?
I know that one had the proper slow release when lowering the car..

  • +2

I think the Toolpro one from SCA has a higher rating?

I have that one and been happy with it.

Wait until it goes on sale.
Not quite as low as this one, but raises higher.

Some cars I've used it on have low bumpers (Mazda 3) so it doesn't fit under unless I drive the left front wheel onto a piece of timber (easy enough). Once the left wheel is on the would, it then slides under to the jack point easily. Once raised, I then put the jack stands in place also.

Never work on a car with just a jack (shouldn't have to be said), but I saw a youtube vid the other day where someone was doing just that. It was painful to watch. A scissor jack to top it off!!!

Toolpro one looks good but at 42kg it may be a problem if you have to carry it any place

    • +1

have the exact same one, very heavy, dragging it around should be fine, but carrying it over anything is kinda pain.

  • Can I use this as a scooter?

    • Nope. No brakes.

      • No breaks on the deme train

  • Would this be a better buy? Higher load limit, seems to be same specs otherwise apart from being low profile…

    • 35kg vs 26kg weight. Aluminium vs steel

  • Hey guys. I don't know much about these but Costco are clearing the Omega Low Profile, $657 @ Repco one for $299.97 delivered.

  • Have this one, heavy as anything but rolls fine. Lifts my Sportage easily. Only niggle is it is a bit touchy with letting the vehicle back down again, tends to release more quickly than I would have thought so take it easy.

  • Could I use this to jack up a bearer under my house to replace a termite cap that has rusted?

    • the stump will have a pin which is folded over going through the bearer to hold the bearer down …..so you need to fold the pin straight first , it’s not just weight holding the bearer to the stumps ……

      • Would this apply to a house built in unit 70s?

    • Bottle jack maybe better depending on the ground and weight

      • Yeah was going to use the bottle jack from my car, really just need half a mm of movement to slide them out and in.

  • +1

I love this jack!! Low enough profile for my hot hatch, enough weight capacity for the wife's Tiguan, and because it's not a full steel jack (unlike the Toolpro 3000kg) it's not as heavy so I can even carry it around if I really need to.

    • Thanks for sharing….Looking forward to testing it out

  • Do people find 465mm a good enough height or prefer bigger range?

I'm keeping an eye out for a low-profile high-lift floor jack to use on our cars. We have a 03' Nissan Pulsar which feel low to the ground. Iirc, non low-profile jacks hit the bumper so had issues lifting from the front, but we also have a 21' Hyundai Tuscon which is a bit higher off the ground (at least at the front).

Is $204 for a 2t jack good or have there been other better deals for jacks that Ozbargainers like? I see there's a 3t jack mentioned here, though I think 3t would be overkill, no?

    • +1

Totally car specific - a jack for a sporty sedan is generally useless for a high 4WD and the same in reverse.

Be prepared to drive onto wooden sleepers or similar to get the front of the car high enough to get the jack under 👍 You can use a higher-profile jack if you do this…
