  • This or ozito pxc?

Bosch Made in Europe (Hungary) vs Ozito: Made in China - sometimes more of a political than a quality choice for some.

Bosch has a long tradition in power tools and many other well engineered products. At this price, I'd go Bosch.

That being said, people typically buy into a brand's ecosystem for battery powered power tools and don't buy the whole lot at once. So, Bosch will eventually go back at the usual premium price for its quality and then the best bang-for-buck is Ozito (IMO).

As a DIYer, I was a Ryobi owner, then ditched them for Ozito. Bosch (and Makita) is good but I'd never extract the best out of it anyway.

        Bosch Made in Europe (Hungary)

        Are you sure about that?

        • +1

I reckon he is confusing Bosch Blue with the cheap consumer Bosch Green.
My older Bosch Green tools are made in Malaysia, but I'll bet most of it comes from China now.
          https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/company/0180873D:CH

Bosch Power Tools China Co. Ltd. manufactures electric power tools. The Company produces and sells rotary hammers, impact drills, jigsaws, demolition hammers, grinders, planers, sanders, measuring tools, and other power tools.

            @bargaino:

I reckon he is confusing Bosch Blue with the cheap consumer Bosch Green.
My older Bosch Green tools are made in Malaysia, but I'll bet most of it comes from China now.

            That's not true at all.

I've had a few Bosch 18v Green tools for a while.
            Hammer Drill - Hungary
            Impact Driver - Malaysia
            Sander - Hungary

I bought the Catch pack from a little while ago to go along with these tools:
            Brushless Drill - Hungary
            Angle Grinder - Hungary
            Reciprocating Saw - China

So, while my sample size is only 6, 5 of them are not made in China.

          • @bargaino: A lot of these electrical/electronic brands that have products made in germany/europe are really just assembled in europe/germany using parts made in china.

        • +1

that's what it says on the listings for the products, e.g. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/384874017130

          ====
          Country/Region of Manufacture
          Hungary

          • -8

@hvbarg: I'm almost certain all of the green tools are made in China. False advertising.

            • +2

@MS Paint: They are made in several countries, including China and Hungary (Miskolc). Bosch also announced expansion of power tool production in Miskolc, Hungary a few months ago so I doubt production will cease in there anytime soon.

              • -1

@bean_counter: The top end blue tools will likely continue to be made in Europe.

                • +2

@MS Paint: I have 4 x Bosch Green power tools (drill, impact driver, nanoblade saw and jigsaw). The model/serial number plate on all of them states they were made in Hungary. I also have a Bosch Green Zamo laser measure, which was made in Malaysia. Some are a few years old but some were purchased in last 12 months, so combined with information previously provided, I am absolutely certain all Bosch Green tools are NOT made in China.

            • @MS Paint: I bought these, they are made in Hungary.

            • +2

              @MS Paint: This isn't true.
I've got 6 Bosch Green tools, only 1 of them is made in China. 4 are Hungary, 1 is Malaysia

              • +1

@whitey1212: Same here, I bought an 18v Bosch green kit that looks almost identical to the picture on this listing from Bunnings in 2015, drill is made in Hungary & impact driver made in Malaysia.

      • The Makita outdoor 18v is really good value.

    • +1

Look at the specific tools you want or will want and compare the 2 brands for spec and price. I have both brands and don't really see much difference. Ozito has better warranty and normally a quick and simple process to sort at your local Bunnings. If you buy when Bunnings is price matching similar cordless tools and batteries at Aldi then Ozito will be even cheaper. Ozito batteries are cheaper and occasional special deals make them even cheaper.
Ideally you would only want one brand so you don't need to have more than one brand of battery/chargers. Having said that, it's pretty hard to pass up cordless tool bargains of any brand - and that's why I have Bosch, Makita, Ryobi and Ozito cordless tools. I'd happily just have Ozito. YMMV.

PS I think Ozito's range of tools is broader - making it less likely you'll need to buy another brand to fill a gap.

    • Makita

@BoschPowerToolsAU quite a few of the links don’t work OP

    Grabbed hedge shears

  • +3

Possible to include line trimmers OP?

    • Yeah would be keen for that also.

  • @Lorenzo100

Would somebody please remember this poor dude.

  • Yeah but I heard that this range of Bosch isn't very spectacular so you guys are just trying to flog it off

    • They're a little better than Ryobi but not as good as proper trade tools (such as blue).

  • @BoschPowerToolsAU Can you do a deal on this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/bosch-universalaquatak-…

  • +1

Last time this deal came up I read a lot of terrible reviews of their circular saw - serious problem with the blade not aligning to the edge of the plate causing jams and subsequent motor burn out.

    • I just bought a bundle for the circular saw. I guess I'm going to find out if it's bad or not.

  • +2

Wished a deal on the 18v pruning recip saw with battery kit.

  • Im no professional but I can't still understand the difference between Bosch Green and Blue :|

All I Know is that 18v batteries are compatible regardless, am I wrong?

    • +1

      No they are not compatilbe

      • Thanks mate

      • I've asked the OP to clarify. This seems to say they are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91UYzgjR8k8&ab_channel=Bosch… but other websites say definitely NO

      • +1

No answer from the OP. Seems he/she's gone, never to return. Given there are adapters for blue/green I think it's safe to assume the batteries aren't interchangeable. Makes you wonder why Bosch isn't up front about battery interchangeability.

        • Well there are adaptors out there. I was looking at one so I could use my Makita battery on a different brand tool but it can be a bit expensive but still cheaper than buying a battery and charger.

  • Bosc batteries compatible with other system?

  • Sorry
I’m new to this and is looking for a motorised screwdriver
Does the 18V cordless compact impact screwdriver comes with different heads?

    TIA

    • Same question tho. I still purchased the screwdriver and hopefully at least I can get some heads from Bunnings.

  • which ones are the best for just occasional use at home (that ideally has a cheap set of tips)

    • Sorry, was thinking about the drills.

      • +4

I called their customer support line (ph:1300307044) because I was in the business for this.

Here is what I learned. There are 2 types of those power tools.

        UniversalDrill18 & UniversalImpact18
        AdvancedDrill18 & AdvancedImpact18

The one with 'impact' are basically hammer drills which are primarily used on masonry (think double brick or concrete) & really tough surfaces in terms of drill.

The main difference between universal & advanced from what I can tell is that they are brushless (advanced). Generally last longer in the longer term.

I bought the advanced as it can AdvancedImpact18 as it can drill & drive and I live in a old school brick house. She mighty mighty… lettin it all hang out..

        anyway. hope this helps.

        • +1

That was super informative, thanks for that mate

        • Handy info, ShoeJunkie, Thank you for posting that.

  • Looking for cordless impact driver with battery but cant see in this deal..can anyone recommend any deal for it? Thank you

    • There's a 6.0Ah batt + charger deal going for $120, 37% off RRP.

    • Much like children toys, batteries are always sold separately xD

  • Thanks OP. Got the $179 kit.

  • Can ozito pxc battery use in Bosch green with an adaptor?

  • -1

Don't buy the green Bosch…. There's enough bargains on here to buy something decent/safe

  • Arrived in poor condition

Appeared to be secondhand/refurbished stock chucked in

And one of the boxed parts show inked year 2016, coming with scratches, debris, oxidation
